I fully support these statements. Rather than seeing stuff as competition, see it as things complimenting one another. However, I do agree with wizzszz that this thread is about the EPTracker. I'd be more than happy to see if I can facilitate SF with a specific section of the forum for discussion of his tracker, though. I still think the idea behind it and the work done on it is great, and I would be more than happy to recognize that by giving him (and other tools that add a lot to the community, for that matter) a dedicated spot on this forum for discussions.
This prolly goes as a "which list" thing.. but wizzszz and I were speaking on skype yesterday about some way of sending data between the sites.. ensuring that EPtracker would be able to pick up any lost globals via Entropia Tracker.. and vice versa..
A "master client" feed to each other does sound like something that could be very beneficial to both projects. I have used the original tracker alot and like it, and I really like what you guys are doing here as well. I think it is really cool to see you guys helping each other out and working together. Kind of what the whole "community" thing is all about :P narfi
One thing that would be nice to have for this tracker is to show the amount of globals you recorded in the User CP on the front page and not only under your name in one of your posts. This way you see what you have tracked a bit easier. And somehow it would be nice to see the globals you had while hunting in a team to. I realize that is almost impossible because of random names teams can have and you not being part of the team and all sorts of other problems, but it would be nice ;)
Hey RAZER, Your first suggestion would be fairly easy. All the major work has been done, and all I will have to do is figure out how to get it into the proper fields. I'm also pondering adding it to the memberlist overview, so when you list all the members, you will see some of the basic stats there. Your second suggestion will most likely not make it into the tracker any time soon. There simply is no way for us to accurately verify someone was or was not a member of a specific team (well, not in the current version of the tracker client anyway). That said, I do believe the next version of the client will have some checking on teamloots. It should be possible to somehow accomplish a check for people running the client, and having a new flag for teamhunts, though I'll instantly state it will not be a priority, and it will only work from the moment we added the functionality onward, with no support for already scored teaming globals. Unrelated, but jdegre's earlier suggestion of using k's and m's to indicate thousands or millions has been implemented for the global box in the posts as well. I also added some minor tweaking, where if you set yourself to be anonymous, or have not filled in your AvatarName in your profile, it will remove the whole tracker box from posts, and if you do not run the client (or have never reported a global through the client), the GlobalsReported icons are auto-hidden. We had a minor bug causing the PED totals for globals to be shown as 0, that has been addressed. Some monthly statistics were added to the Stats page as well, containing information that can be used for trending purposes. We'll soon be adding charts to support this functionality, and allow for easier data interpretation.
Question: if nobody is running your tracker client, nothing is registered. Are there such gaps at the moment? Wish: can you add missed globals manually - I had a couple before your tracker was born.
There are gaps now - but they are very few and far between. Im surprised how quickly this tracker became as stable as it is... Good work EntropiaPlanetsTrackerStaff.. EPTS :D
Welcome to EP, Cea! :) We still have minor gaps during the times where only a few people are playing (around 4-6 a.m. MA time, sometimes a bit later - not every day tho, i have shifted my own playtime a bit to cover these where possible) - that means we do catch the vast majority of the globals (because during these gaps there are way less globals because less people are playing), but we haven't yet reached 24/7 coverage. The number of people running the client is growing all the time tho, and i guess the next tracker version will give more incentive to run the client and hopefully we are able to close the gaps then. Feel free to contribute, the EPTracker client is fully automated, so there is nothing you have to do, just install it and check the "Autostart with Windows" option, that's all - the easiest way to ensure that we catch all of your globals. It is not possible for forum members to add globals, this could be abused too easily, but if you provide a list (maybe starfinder is so nice and verifies the globals) we can add them for you. :)
Its already possible via the Entropia Tracker API. www.entropiatracker.com/api/api.asp Get last 50 globals (all 3 professions included) for any team or avatar Note: If the player is hidden on Entropia Tracker the result will be 0 values in all fields. Input: - getLastGlobalsAvatarname - avatar / team name Output: - profession - what (Atrox old, Lysterium stone) - value - timeStamp Knock your self out. :)
Yes, being a new player I have 6 globals of which EP shows the 2 latest ones. All 6 are shown in ET (here) and a screenshot: I think ET manual adding is done by user input, then the admins verify them before publish. There's a fee too (ofc) :o.
Hi Cea, In due time, we will be ensuring data from past globals will be entered into the EntropiaPlanets tracker. However, unfortunately we cannot currently give an ETA on that.
We NEED some kind of indication of how many people are helping with global tracking. If I saw there were 2 people only, I would immidiately log in, in order to "help the cause" And I looked out for my socmates mining ATH @ about 36k lysterium.. Nowhere to be found, and he got it yesterday. http://www.entropiaplanets.com/forums/tracker.php?do=search&username=Scanha Mar-ha Jade
To ask MindArk to place in mining hofs the (Continent, X, Y) information on mining globals/hofs so that tracker can track this information to build a mining database and map overlay here on EP for Calypso (& each planet in the future). Something like as suggested for AW Tracker here: LINK > http://www.afterworldforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3669#post3669 Maybe something you can speak to Hanne @ FPC about ;)
The tracker live feed page has a "Current number of clients tracking" counter now - i don't want to go into detail about the security mechanisms, but 2 clients is already enough to verify the datastream if no anomalies occur, the times with less than that are important. The ATH message was changed from MA in between (a very small change, but enough to no longer pass the verification in the client), this is a known problem and has been fixed already in the upcoming tracker version. I doubt that MA will send such information, especially now that they charge for custom global messages this would render their paid service less usefull. And i think there are more important thigs to fix before they add new stuff, but yeah, that'd be a nice addition, for sure.
Not an immediate thing, something for the future ofc. So far we can track it down to LA# that globals & HoFs are made on for mining with resource attached If MA do not make the addition, keep it in mind for the AW tracker, I have put the request forward to bank also for AW survival since it will be one big fluid world - Likely to be implemented. PS. I PM'd Hanne about it to bring her attention to the idea for the future.
i don't want to make a new thread just for bug reporting so i guess it's ok posting here... what has happened with the global database? i can only see my last 14 globals, but i have many more. also, i have plenty of dupes. even one of the globals has been recorded like 4-5 times (all dupes). so, to turn this post into something "on-topic", my suggestion for the wish-list is to iron out these small bugs...
The current algorithm used to merge the different data streams into one is just a temporary solution - there are some additions that were meant to hunt down duplicates which caused a bit of unexpected behaviour and i.e. deleted valid globals. The new algoritm is already defined, we just need to find the time to implement all the changes - atm, the top priority is the next version of the client, which has some new internal functions to ensure as much accuracy as possible, especially during times where only few client track globals. Don't worry, all the data were recorded and the tables will be rebuilt from those backups, so none of the reported globals are lost! This should automatically adjust i.e. your loot totals and global counters. Please bear with us, if no unforeseen problems occur this should be completed within next week. :)
Hey RAZER, I added the same data as is available in the posts both into the memberlist as well as the user profiles (under the statistics tab). The UserCP is a different story altogether, as it's just a bucket of links. Should you REALLY want this to be incorporated there as well, let me know, though I probably will not prioritize it very highly :)
Ok got a suggestion here. I was going through the globals and wanted to see what the highest globals were on some mob. SO I do a search on that mob and get a list of all the globals in the database for that mob, so far all goes well. What I what to be able to do is sort the globals by Value (or any of the other columns). This would make some stuff a lot easier. oh and I get a lot of double globals in the database (for the motorhead security at least) from this point on 2010-04-09 22:21:55
Hey RAZER, We're still adding new metrics and statistics. One of the things on my to-do list is to add graphs. Perhaps that will help you out as well. I'll have to look through the code we have so far to see how much effort it would take to implement full sorting, so I cannot make any promises yet.
