Low budget 3D-printing again ...

Problem is: the amount of fun depends to the amount of money I can spent with :-( This thread about 3D-printing became a blog about bad engineering and bad manufacturing of a printing device. I hate it.
The plan: I will try to print the missing parts of Tamara V2. By any chance it'll work. I came too far with this model to let it be so easy. Additional I had some other parts in mind for two speaker stands for my wife ... let's see. I will keep the bad printed part with the shift and use it as a proof to be able to give this baby back to Pearl. Even if it prints the missing parts correctly.

 

I doubt this. 3D-printers are another kind of device than ink printers or digital cameras. Everybody is able to fill a sheet of paper with some text or pictures and can print it. But only a few are able to build propper 3D models. It is not part of our daily life compared to write something or take a photo. 3D prints will stay exotic for a long time if not for ever. Most things are buyable, many are cheap. No need to design and print them. There won't be a mass market soon.

 

ROFL! Okay okay, I was too optimistical. Now I can't boot the printer anymore. Software error.
They scoop all imaginable problems. I will reset this story completely soon. Stay tuned.

 

Well, got the retour voucher from Pearl last night. This will end a very exiting charpter of experiance (1.5 years). I've learned a lot - and probably you too ;-)
Additionally I got a promising offer for a freelancer job today. So hopefully I'll be able to continue with this projects soon. Damn money!

 

Yep, I will get the money back from Pearl via PayPal. That's the good message. The bad message is: I will subscribe a freelancer contract with my customer next days. That means I'll have to buy a SolidWorks (CAD) license soon ... no new printer, no Rhino license, no new 3D models :-( ... kk, I don't complain about that. But it means also that I cannot continue with this issue until I earned enough money. Stay tuned!

I saw it printing ... one of the Tamara-parts btw. In PLA this time. It is really promising. Next week I will get it. Stay tuned!

I don't know yet. atm I'm busy with adjusting everything and learn about what to care for ...
The print of Tamara's head wasn't that good. But it was made with high speed (3.5 hrs only) and 0.2 mm layer thickness. If I can't improve the results it's not a good printer.

 

Back to the roots!
Finally my modeller Ievgeny and I managed to build a good model of the original photo. It's still work in progress. But looks promising:

Printer is running. It delivers astonnishing results for a $450-printer. TBH: Why to pay more?

If this one works I will do some metal prints as well. Feels good after all this years and after all this attempts ... ***leans back*** ***has another whiskey*** ***wide grin***
