You should know that new rules are popping-up on PCF.
Delete threads and posts is the best way to hide the truth, typical antidemocratic and tyrannic behaviour.

But in a way, probably a good thing, more people will be pissed by them, more will leave.

Thank you Kat, I did spot the above thread shortly after its creation, it didnt last more than 5 minutes - who knows how many other similar threads are getting erased.

I'm thinking plenty are.

 

Fair is nothing to do with what is going on, on that other forum. I've been there since 2006 and the rules haven't changed all that much in that time, its about how they are policed.

I've seen Mindbuster, MS9, JimmyB and JohnCapital as well as others moderating so I think I'm able to say in all fairness what is now being enacted is a vendetta.

What I expect to happen is this forum will get pretty busy if this keeps up, and I presume that is what any rival forum wants, whether it is one about Entropia, the BBC or Digtal Spy.

Well i presume its because they are banned that you can not make a thread about them.

They know that there behavior on forum was going get them banned sooner or later. You cant keep poking tiger and not expect them to go for you at some point. I have no problems with them, i like to think me and Taco have mutaural respect for each other in game. He will be first to admit that he can be arsehole and go over the top at times, then again i think that is one side people like about him. Damn i only just come back here after Taco said he will be using it more now and i like some of his posts. I am not a fan PCF, but its the most popular forum and RT one is dead in water now.

 

PCF is holed below the waterline, and will take 6 months to sink completely, but unless you are buying or selling, its effectively dead as a discussion forum now. Any that are raised are quickly leapt upon, posts deleted, and sometimes the whole thread disappears before a lot of people know of its existence.

Incidentally, I noticed S4400Salvation asked for account deactivation today. I dont know what the issue was, but I'd imagine its about his posts being deleted or excessively edited. If anyone knows him, perhaps you could invite him over here where he could post his 'Mining Challenges' thread should he so wish.

About what I was thinking myself. I think Joda's clip shows very clearly that he was the target of extensive provocation and harassment.

Posting of personal disputes is not permitted on PCF, as the threadstarter is well aware:

I have now reviewed the entirity of Taco's Twitch stream posted here: http://www.twitch.tv/tacotuesdaytv/v/44809101 (including the tedious bits like changes to graphics options etc ), and I'll add the following observations:

Taco's TP brought him within scant metres of Joda, and shows that the first mob (and only the first mob) is the one that was shot by both players.
Taco's voiced comment on arrival of 'Oh here's Joda, I'm gonna fucking kill his [?(muffled)]' pretty much makes it clear his intent right from the start of the encounter.
The disputed 'killsteal' happens within the space of only a few seconds immediately after Taco's arrival, while the two avatars are still only a few meters apart.
Taco's following actions, including interposing his avatar and his quad between Joda and the mobs he's killing, along with voiced comments of: "I'm going to fuck with him for the rest of the event" has to be one of the more egregious examples of poor sportsmanship that I've observed in nearly 10yrs in Entropia.
And then to have the temerity to post this thread trying to appear to be an innocent party?

My comment above stands, as does Taco's ban.

I dunno, making a thread called "RIP some people who just go banned" (this is effectively what it said - with the added click bait that RIP sounds like someone really died IRL) does seem like a blatant attempt to start a conversation about people who got banned. And that is against their rules.

Rules is rules.

 

PCF will continue.. have no doubt about that. Others will fill in the holes you all have left and others will get banned or decide to just leave, It will become boring as fuck to read (unless you are buying of selling). But it will continue because MA wants it to. It's part of their broken PR process and they will pump in the needed funds to keep it up. They don't care about the content as much as having the platform available.

 

Well, where I live the council fills about 1 hole in 8 in the public roads because thats all they can afford to do. Obviously I dont want to talk politics to a worldwide audience, so take it as an analogy of "when you can fill some holes of people being banned or deciding the place is no longer humourous or pleasant enough to make it worth a visit". Some holes will be filled, but people will notice the unfilled ones.

You may be quite correct in now saying that PCF will continue, and on reflection (but its purely down to how quickly she keeps banning members and deleting posts & threads that this happens) so I'd revise it to 12 - 18 months.

I actually spent some time tonight trying to remember another forum that 711 owns (owned) and died due to lack of interest. I was even a member of it. It was created in 2009, old time members may remember it.

It is not with a happy heart I've seen the circumstances arrive at this situation, it is from a (now) external observers position.

There is a huge difference between being a leader and a dictator, try saying something controversial on PCF if you want to see it for yourself.

Yes rules are rules. It's still a privately owned/managed forum so they can make and enforce more or less whatever rules they like. If you don't like them then leave.

The problem lies in the fact that it is seen as and serves the purpose of an official forum for the game. In this context having a set of rules that have evolved for slightly dubious reasons and that are enforced in suspect ways is a problem. There is a pretence that the rules can be discussed openly but if you overstep the mark you will inevitably be censored.
Too many worthwhile contributors are banned or simply left. In general I would say that this is NOT because they were too childish or disruptive to follow reasonable rules.

Why is it not allowed to discuss people who got banned?
Why is it not allowed to name scammers/exploiters, even if clear evidence is supplied?

These are the kind of rules that can be superficially justified but should at least raise some red flags. The forum was thriving in the past without them.
There is a history to the evolution of these rules but ofc it's a history that has been deleted.
