LOL! Avatar statues? No need for that. I print my own statues at home and place them at a shelf or at my desktop. Yawn!

At the other hand what about the housing system? Postponed? Forgotten? Cancelled?

Share your home with other players. Craft at home. Furnish your home with thousands of different items. Exhibit your trophies to other players. Just have a look at this:

This will drag me back to TESO.

    Hi McCormick ;)

Well the housing system... if you look around the "villages" (for want of a better term) they are in place and I guess are "ok" in some locations. I note that one or two of the plots have buildings on them now but they are rather small/unexciting. Some have some pots outside that don't seem to have anything in them. All in all rather uninspiring for the cost. I can't help feeling that a "good idea" has somehow been shat upon by management or something. With so much space in Entropia they could have easily been far more generous with what was given out here without the price point even being so high. As for the future... I think "forgotten" will be the most likely end point. I can't see the experiment working with such weak participation. If they want a "system" to work, it needs the level of availability to be much higher. I can't help feeling this was likely just another cock up.

I'm more miffed that space has gone another year without so much as a mention. What happened to that nice sounding idea of courier missions? That one had genuine potential and would be a unique feature really for the MMO market (not many MMOs could offer space courier missions). It even sounded like they had a reasonably well thought out implementation strategy in terms of the economics of it.

One could also ask what happened to the pet situation? OK looking around the game now I see lots of players with buffs hanging off their head - some likely related to pets, makes me wonder if I should be doing similar even. But then I think "meh for what I hunt, does it matter?". The pet battling thing though? What happened with that? They did do the Stable thing for leveling pets though but not sure if this is popular or not.

This all said, I am actually ok with Entropia this year. I think the "details guy" has been out in force which is something that quite frankly is essential and they should have had someone(s) on that role on a permanent basis years ago. So keep those people doing what they are doing MA.

On the Statues thing... well yes someone could make a killing custom building real life avatar models for people but the statues in game isn't really comparable. I have to admit I had a sly smile to myself when I read this year's christmas sale info. I thought, "you cunning Bastards ;)" but in a nice way. I have to take my hat off to MA they know how press buttons.

In all seriousness I was actually considering the idea properly. Here is the thing. We live, we die. Some people might get a tombstone in a graveyard when they cark it, others might have nothing. I remember for my grandparents we put money towards paying for sunday flowers at their church for a time period. I don't know the details but I presume in some way there was an acknowledgement somewhere should anyone want to know. Maybe it was mentioned in the ceremony, I don't know. The point here is that whether or not they themselves were acknowledged or remembered as a result of those flowers being there, people saw them and liked them (cause who doesn't like flowers?). In some small way, they made a difference.

Now back to the tomb stone... very few people even see tombstones. I've probably taken more interest in them than most would. When visiting Tokyo, if there was a shrine I often popped over to have a look round. Some things really fascinated me like graves with an open can of beer on them. I can imagine some friend or relative popping by cracking two cans and having a chat the deceased maybe like they were still alive. This seems a nice thought but maybe I'm just a sucker for sentiment.

The thing is, those people who bring offerings will pass and the tombstone will decay. I've been around enough graveyards in the UK to see tombstones that are now illegible. So... where am I going with all this? I guess really the thought of a statue in a public place in an active MMO is actually rather an appealing legacy. People will come and go and see that statue and think... who was that person? Why are they here? I guess they might have a digital plaque too like the IslandGirl memorial. Even without being dead, I like the idea of a statue of Wistrel somewhere... Tethys perhaps. Don't know.

Assuming Entropia continues it is a good idea but of course I won't be dropping hundred's into the game to get one. It's a nice idea but I'll live with my legacy being my stories and contributions to things like The Calypso Post. These are things I am proud of and are how I'd like to be remembered by players.

This said, I'll be interested to see who does go with it. I'd like to see some names I know. Svarog would be top of my list - the guy's a living legend anyhow and his avatar would make an excellent statue.

Going further with this I actually rather like the idea of an avatar graveyard (beyond the 2 on memorial island - does that still exist?). Would be a nice touch and the sort of thing MA could brag about in one of their press releases. Could do something like, every account that is active for 5 (or 10 if needed) years but then is removed gets a tombstone with the avatar's name on it and the years they were active. One could put these all in one place although I kind of like the idea of them being in different locations around the map so that people might stumble upon them randomly. Heck, if they wanted to monetise it they could even give people the chance to buy a digital plaque as it were, that says something about the person. Maybe sell these + a chance to say where the memorial would be for 1000ped or something. Should be enough to cover the admin cost and still turn a profit.

OK ramble over. Time to stop procrastinating.

Well, I buried this game long time ago (February 2014). I doubt MA is able to attract me to come back. Even with an attractive housing system. But from what Wistrel says it doesn't look attractive so far. It is still simply bullshit. I will return to TESO instead. Just for fun.

LOL! Yep, banned people can still read PCF as guest.

Thoreau posted at the same thread:
"What's the decay on those statues?"
That sums it up from my point of view :beerchug:

"Hopefully NEVERDIE will introduce a tool for cleaning statues, thus making good on his promises to create real economy jobs"

  9. I enjoyed the Fort Sisyphus. Quite decent action...but sound on drones and lasers was totally bugged.
A lot of silence. And the "Go to fort Sisyphus" wont go away if you go there.

I enjoyed it...even enjoyed the near Feffoid village...even if there is nothing to do/explore there...anyway, good job...

But now I read about statues that you can purchase. Ego trip anyone ?
Shouldnt these be added as some kind of reward for something ?
Or are the statues the xmas sale for this year ? xD

Space ? Pets ? Octoagons ? CLD Plot progress ? Casino ? 3 partner buildings at Athena Space Port ? blah...
    Who cares...

And Ashi Oilrig has a gigantic drop radius now ? Like any other rig.
As if it wasnt boring enough standing there already...ah well, at least the regular pickers will probably never come again...

Radar again enabled in Ashi PVP...why ?!?!?!
Next target working on avatars again

At least sounds like a content release adding actual content.

But statues to buy for yourself??? Aren't statues usually build by the community in honor of members of the community that extraordinarily contributed to the community? Well, probably not in MA's universe where buying rewards and then bragging about getting them is business as usual.
