So the "switching" from planet to area level is now done for Arkadia. Meaning on Arkadia maps like http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/Planet_Arkadia_maps_and_locations you can now get to an Area page and map by clicking the arrow icons in the bottom right of an Area, and on an Area map you can go up to planet level by clicking those icons. Good/obscure/nonsense?

Crap, now I have a lot of info to gather and update :(
Do you think its safe to assume that if the NPC changed for one of the missions in the chain it will also apply for the rest of the missions in one chain? i.e. The Rise Of The Lycans
    I like this as well!

Sooo, I have some input after working on the locations for missions to have a somewhat more populated map :)
    • You only need to draw an item on the map once. Though items which appear more than once will have a more bold look to them, is it a feature or just a side affect?
    • There are items/locations with no NPC, you'll just get the mission if you full-fill the prerequisites. For these items it would be nice if the info box would contain the name of the mission given. Actually it would be nice if we would have this for all items. And if it is an item with a mission chain, show the mission chain name instead of the mission name to reduce the amount of info that you would have to display.
    • There will be A LOT of items in the same area on the map for some locations. Most crowded I think the NWOMSP area will be. How would we handle this? I like how this is solved in LBML graphically, if you need an example of this let me know ;)
Then I have a general question, if you look in the list we have "The Hunt for Captain Petter" and then we have another 6 items which are numbered. I think we could safely remove the unnumbered one if you agree. I've updated the info on the 6 numbered once.

That's all I can think of now. Except that it will take some time to get all of this data together, don't think I will do it all... It's especially boring to have to fill in the same data multiple times, is there a way to do that quicker?

And some comments generally working with updating the wiki,
    • I would never enter data if it weren't for the forms! I don't have any interest in learning wiki markup. So it is great what you have done so far with that. Before these forms I barely looked at this wiki nor thought about contributing.
    • The time it takes for me to load pages around here is not really acceptable. The forum is ok but working with the wiki is really boring when it comes to speed, it puts me of and I don't feel like spending time on it. I've said it in the past and I will say it again about this, there has to be something that can be done about it. It's just to slowish in general, I often don't like browsing for data around here unless I know specifically that there is something good to look at.

Mission documentation in general is relatively old. Back then we knew less and and meanwhile also a couple of things have happened in the universe. So, looking at it today I'd say i can be done much easier and much better. Unfortunately missions are a somewhat complicated subject, so probably we can only improve successively in small steps.

Correct observation. It's because currently the position is documented as a property of the mission, consequently multiple mission with the same location show up on the map. A solution would be to have pages for NPCs/mission givers and instead of the mission show these on the map.

Would be nice to have but no idea how to do that best. One 'issue' is that there is a very small number of items and locations giving missions, yet we would have to implement this for all locations/items if we want to automate this. Also, we might be able to combine it with the NPC solution above, meaning for mission you would document that it is given by an NPC, item, location, all of which would have their own pages and display the missions they give, similar to what creature pages have for missions requiring to kill the creature, example: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/Creature:Tide_Claw#Missions

Yes, example please. I guess it's done with "marker clustering", which is the method we should go for in the end (not very soon though). Besides that Local 'hotspots' most likely would deserve their own page, such as http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/NWOMSP :)

Yep, just change/kill whatever you find strange.

There's definitely room for improvement, I have a couple of things on the list to look into to improve performance. In the end we might need to upgrade the server.

Yep, forms are cool for easily adding values to properties. And it's something we haven't completely explored yet, most forms can be further improved.
And yes, looking back at how it started we've achieve a lot already, but in general I feel that we still have only scratched the surface of wiki customization. I learn something new on daily basis.
Nowadays learning wiki markup isn't even neccessary anymore for basic editing, you'll still see the markup like '''something''' to create bold text but it will be done by marking the word and click a button in the editor. The next step of evolution is called "Visual editor" which means no wiki markup at all, you can test it there: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/VisualEditor:Test

One major aspect of using this wiki for me is the fact that there is active development, even on a relatively large scale by dozens of developers, and it will not cease as long as there will be wikipedia. So it's very sustainable, ensures high security standards, complete transparency, adoption of new technology, etc etc.

Amber Knightley I see dead people.

I have no clue how to do that.
Anyway what I was thinking about removing was this one, http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/The_Hunt_for_Captain_Petter
But I'm not sure... Anyway what is weird is that it shows up in this list http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/ROCKtropia_Missions/Map
But not in this list http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/ROCKtropia_Missions

And thanks for the extensive reply, but I'm not sure what to respond :)
Maybe that the clustering you mention is most likely what I was thinking about.

Ok, found out the issues with Captain Petter. Some of the pages were not in the Mission "namespace" indicated by the pagename beginning with "Mission:". Fixed that but complete removal of the one "The Hunt for Captain Petter" page will probably take until cache is cleared next time.

Usually the best approach for "killing" pages is redirecting them to the most appropriate and correct page. By clicking edit, removing everything in the edit box, clicking the redirect button (next to last in the second/lower button row), and fill in the page to redirect to. Or if you dare to use wiki markup :eek (2): replace all content with something like: #REDIRECT [[Mission:The Hunt For Captain Petter 1]]

Looks like back to the drawing board for Cyrene in terms of broker locations and new tps. Hopefully I'll have enough time after the VU.

Thanks Razer for the shout out in Cyrene Forum. I hope to get my pioneer statue at Supply Depot one day hehe.

No problem, it is good to have people on the planets to get the data, we appreciate that a lot.

So, how do you add another section/link in the left hand side menu?
I'd like to add Secret Island to ROCKtropia...

Hi, any plans to do something about this?
I'd love to see these "static" maps to be improved!
