At the moment I have a job as engineer for a customer. For two or three weeks. So more or less everything is frozen. But you are right: I will continue with avatars if I'm not too lazy at the evening.

Yep, this is really another field than my Pitbull at one hand. At the other hand it overlaps my theme: to give rein to something. Download content, print it and use it. Probably modify it before printing. We are far away from this. But we are on the right course. A 3d-printer should be as normal as a microwave to everyone's home.

The example you mentioned is very special. Probably I could print the parts. But I couldn't build all the electronics, not to speak about coding the software. And tbh I don't need such a hand so far. Not many of "normal" folks are in need of it. But they do pay a lot of money for simple replacements. What if manufacturer would offer 3d-data of replacements for low costs?

Half a year ago I printed the first full dental prostheses for my own mouth. My dentist made a stiff and aggravating one. I didn't like it. I asked a former colleague to make a 3d-scan from it and modified it with my CAD. Than I printed it with flexible material. That was already way more pleasant than the original. The dentist mentioned, it wouldn't last very long. Well, who cares? I could print a new one. Or ten of it for vacation ...

But I don't want to wear plastic parts in my mouth at all. So I canceled the project.

That would be my part, if I was equipped and motivated to pick up the hobby again. Ah, taking up the soldering iron again... can the boards be printed now? It was always a mess with the etching chemicals. Was just mentioning it here because I think this is really interesting stuff which will take us on a big leap forward, to borrow a term. Playing around with it to gather knowledge and experience is far from useless.

Well, I've checked the store of Youbionic's website:
    upload_2017-11-25_22-0-57.png
    Printing files hand: 149 Euro
    10x actuator: 550 Euro
What about the sensors and the support for the single hand?
    Regarding boards:

No clue if this will be functional.

But I agree with you: such things will change our life dramatically in near future.

One of the things I have permanently on my "list of fun projects to try" is to try and make a robotic hand. Starting with home made bend sensors. I've had the tutorial bookmarked forever.

Sadly this is so far down the list now... maybe when I retire or get too sick to work.

  11. Colors and brushes arrived today.
I guess Ill start around the weekend.

I will need 20 of these cars to use up all the colors x'D

Maybe Ill start with the drone as well...but 1st Ill get deeper into deeptoken ;D

Probably we can print stamps from flexible material for the sign and the text.

  14. Oh meeee gawd...this needs TONS of finetuning now...reminds me of cheap argentinian bootleg toys...I need to fix this, with even smaller brushes.
Also the rippled surface is kinda "not so cool" for metallic color...blah blah blah :p

    LOL ... surprise, surprise!
You don't need smaller brushes. You need a better model (bigger, printed with 0,1 mm level thickness, sanded, filled and sanded again). This one was just a first shot. Not meant to be a serious final product. But since you wanted another shape of this vehicle I stopped this one.

Just a suggestion: Make your own thread about your crafting adventures. This would be a very interesting independent story. I mean it isn't really a Pitbull, is it?

No, at least I didn't. Very interesting. Years ago I made paper models as well until it became obsolet for me because of 3d-prints. Mastermesh mentioned my thread already there. But Lightz didn't contact me to get the more or less complete collection of 3d-models of EU vehicles from me. It includes all space vehicles meanwhile. Even this Arkadia dropship.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to reactivate my old ArkadiaForum account. So I can't contact Lightz. Probably someone else can do this to help him with 3d-models. Aaaaand: I have the permission to use them for private purpose from MA.

Wasn't there some sorta major direct X change in Entropia planned for before christmas? I have a feeling that was potentially going to place a deadline on capturing people in 3d with your software Jamira?

I don't think it arrived and MA are not making any noises about it any more, even failing to post a state of the universe, so we are probably alright for a while
