A Game for Wistrel's

Episode 1 is for free on Steam.

I promote GOG & Humble (maybe a little bit too much) because:
    1. GabeN is rich enough (got more than 5 Billion USD from poor gamers)
    2. GOG is always DRM-free, Humble often
    3. Games are usually cheaper on GOG and Humble, even if they seem to cost the same, because a small share of the price is added to your wallet for each purchase
    4. GOG is usually cheaper too because the difference between USD and local currencies is added to your wallet too, while on Steam USD price = EUR price for example
    5. A share of the price on Humble is going to a charity instead of in GabeN pockets

Just now, both Humble and GOG are running a star Wars sale. I did a quick check yesterday and Humble seemed to be slightly cheaper...

Wistrel already turned into a cat ;) (but hasn't finished with Edith yet).

I did enjoy Gone Home btw and intend to replay through the story clips because it was so darn well acted and I really liked the story not to mention it felt like a 90s simulator :D. But it took me about 5 attempts to even make it through the porch I should say, somehow I wasn't very compelled to start (but glad I did in the end)

Here is another one. Obduction from Cyan, the makers of Myst and Riven.

And wow! it's available for PSVR! But ... only teleporting, neither walking nor running ...
    So nothing for me.

That name rings a bell... quite interested.... I liked Myst but only played Myst 3. Incidentally, not sure if anyone would be interested in this fella but with any luck the game will finally come out this year.

Hehe, that was a good series of adventures. When I got MYST I owned good computers already with - what was it? - 12 million colours while most computers at this time had less abilities. But the installation program demanded me to set it to "high colour". No way to use my better graphics - LOL! Later my daughter was in the USA for one year and smuggeled "The Real MYST" for me to Germany because it was forbidden to export this software. Crazy! I even testet URU until it was closed. Revelation was my last contact with the series.

Jamira I just thought... given your experiences, do you have any thoughts about North Korea?

I do have thoughts. I was trapped for 35 years in GDR - east germany. The people in North Korea don't have access to informations about what's going on in the real world. Same with the poor guys from IS. They simply don't know much and do crazy things. Like I did while living under restrictions.

FAR: Lone Sails could be a little game for Wistrel's. It's brand new, mainly features exploration gameplay, a little bit of puzzles, a little bit of Steampunk, a tiny bit of urban exploring and a pinch of vacation at the sea. It's probably not a game for Jamira's although its heavy machinery might be appealing ;)

Hehe, it looks cute and slow and relaxed. Add a pinch of steam punk and you got me. I will definitely have a look at it!

So I guess, given I cracked a little on my resistance of the summer steam sale, I should mention the latest games for Wistrel's I've picked up.

First up, since I already completed it, "We were here". This is a 2 player escape the room game (I'm quite a fan after the Zero escape series) where you and a friend have to work together, describing what you can see to each other, in order to guide each other through the various rooms and puzzles you find yourself encountering.

It's really good fun and you should try it because it is totally free! (and even supports VR!)

Other stuff I picked up are Jet set Radio (an inline skating game), Qube (a portal-esk puzzle game), The Turing test (a space puzzle game? not actually sure yet) and Homesick (puzzle urban exploring?).

Two unexpected purchases were a game called Orwell where you are investigating terrorists by looking for clues on the net in blogs and social media and even intercepting phone texts, and another called hacknet which, as far as I can tell so far, seems to be something of a linux simulator! Still, it seems quite interesting so far... and has an awesome soundtrack. For example:

I don't know if an ego-shooter game fits to this thread. Since I believe that I am at a comparable level with Wistrel, I want to mention "Dishonored 2". Mainly because of its steam-punk envoirement. Like Assassians Creed: Origin it offers a very easy way to play to enjoy the story.

A friend showed me dishonoured 1 once. It sounded good. He was a big advocate of brothers also. I played on his recommendation.

Actually I liked it a lot. Been replaying with a different friend from the first time I played now I have 2 joypad support

So tried this one out just now (homesick). Didn't get too far. Strangely it depressed me too much which is odd as normally I like this sort of thing... I wonder if it was the music or perhaps just the heat. Ho hum.
