Actually, you stated before that MA got scammed out of their money. That sounds to me as if MA was taken advantage of, rather than extremely naive/negligent.
Well yes, but you have to look at the other side of the picture here. What if it worked out? Would your scam idea be bigger or smaller? As I stated some say scam most others say stupid. I go with MA being stupid having too big of dreams for what little they have as resourced to do it.
MA thinks they know it all. Management hasn't realised yet they're utterly irrelevant. I don't see it as big dreams. I see it as delusions of grandeur. If you look back at the press releases in which they keep boasting and glorifying themselves, all you see is a pattern of big dreams that end in nothing but disappointment and broken promises. There's been a guy who has consistently reminded everyone of it...
I landed within minutes of the update ready and haven't left since, therefore dodged all the pirate trouble. "Any good" is 100% subjective but so far I like the landscapes and designs. Loots, mob spawns and interactive content aren't finalized yet. I suggest to wait out the coming patch.
Sounds ok (no worries, we are a diverse community so can afford to be individually subjective :D) but release then immediately patch? again? =_= Does no one test ANYTHING in Entropia? Developer: "So we've just added a door to building that opens when you walk up to it. Do you want it in the next release or shall we get someone to do some testing on it first?" Release Manager (do MA/Ark have a release manager even?): "Nah fuck it, shove it in. If anyone complains, we can fix it later if we absolutely have to"
:) With patch I meant the one for Space, mainly. I haven't had a reason to leave so I'm only taking info from chatter and forums. It's said that the pirate attacks have stopped for now because of a warning against further exploiting of the bug that spits you out in pvp upon leaving either the moon or the planet and unable to even defend yourself because you're in the loading phase while they already can see and attack you, so you would wake up dead and robbed. When that is fixed for sure, I'd suggest it's very well worth a visit. That content is to be added and some things adjusted was announced by the devs and is no ground for criticism. The scenery there is both alien and serene, I believe you'll like it. Some screenies here: http://arkadiaforum.com/threads/moon-me.14684/
ahhh thanks for the explanation. Yeh I saw them announce that more stuff would come as the story progressed which indeed isn't the same as not having everything there from the start. So it was just an oversight about space spawning in the end? Easily done I guess... But MA really should fix space... they put all that effort in just for it to be largely not used. The thing is about space is that it allows you to hunt in 6 DOF in a spaceship then take your loot to a FPS/3PS planet, in an MMO!, which is kinda cool when you think about it and a good USP for MA. Space needs the bugs fixed and some cheaper to use weapons for killing small mobs (I'm thinking the equivalent of an opallo and Snablesnot in space or something maybe a tad larger). It also needs some missions. THEN it might get some people actually using it, rather than hurriedly passing through, or just sitting like a zombie on a Moship clicking the repair button. Space suits would be easy enough to do too by crossing the code for the creature control system with spaceship controls surely? Dreaming on... Wistrel
Speaking about all these bugs... I wonder if maybe the community could put together a group test plan for MA/PP's to implement for every release. This way we could all specify all the things that we really really don't want to get broken each release. Of course... it would probably be ignored... Wistrel
It's quite sad really.... they can't even talk about the test servers. I remember Mr McC saying the NDA was quite scary. This said, I've known people who've visited MA HQ and not had to sign anything... ah well.
Visiting means you see what they want you to see. Becoming a partner means you'll get to see the incompetence up close and out in the open. Which should always be kept hidden from those who are supposed to keep paying the bills. Or those who are intended to be recruited to pay the bills.
Bethesda always run a test-server version for big TESO DLCs. They do it to find errors and to get hints from customers what could be improved. Makes sense, doesn't it?
