[IMGALIGNLEFT]http://www.entropiaplanets.com/gallery/pics/1/pac-man.png[/IMGALIGNLEFT] You might not realize it by looking at him, but exactly 30 years ago today, Pac-Man was born! Few game characters have been copied so often as this iconic little guy, and even 30 years down the road, the game is still fun to play. Google, known for marking memorable events with a customized version of the Google logo, released a playable version of Pacman yesterday, and productivity in many a company promptly dropped as their employees went and played the mini-game.

Toru Iwatani, an employee of the company Namco, an his team developed the game in roughly one year, and released it into the arcades on May 22nd 1980. The original Japanese name for the game was Pakkuman, Pakku being a phonetic version of the sound made when one quickly opens and closes their mouth. I don't think it's a stretch to make that had Pac-Man been released today, he would probably have taken a different name. Omnomnom-man, perhaps?

For those of you feeling nostalgic, try the playable logo on www.google.com. There's also a website that is the official site to celebrate this memorable event at Pacman 30th Anniversary | Pacman Official English Site.

Here's to you, Pac-Man :beerchug:. Thank you for revolutionizing the video-game world 30 years ago.
