The rock formations in the second video remind me of Kinder Scout. Climbing 2000 feet to see them however is increasingly a challenge for moi. Impressively real game engine though.
I've never been a fan of Kinder Scout... but maybe I should get up there again and take another look... Makes me sad that you can't get up hills so easy now. Same happened to my friend, he used to do Dark Peak Marathon and stuff like that, now he has breathing difficulties and struggles to go a mile.
Well, I'm afraid that I will have to replace my three years old computer by a better one soon. Especially to be able to enjoy VR experiances. VR is still at a very low level regarding photorealism. But we will see some improvements there as well.
Still hanging on to my 10 year old steam engine :D (the motherboard/base tech is 10 years old but I did upgrade the rest of it a fair bit over the years). I wonder if intel with ever make 10nm chips available... TBH though I'm tempted not to bother. Severe case of CBA here. I'm guessing CAD could be slightly faster, especially on the re-compute stuff that occasionally happens, but really it isn't often enough for me to care and isn't even that long anyhow. A nice chance to look out the window for a moment.
A while back I was on top of Kinder in fog and misty rain. There were deep ridges in the peat, pools of water, muddy areas and the ‘other worldy’ rocks. You felt like you were on another planet! I managed to climb up there (Kinder) about a year ago very, very slowly. But my knees are shot and I just do what I can these days. Re Dark Peak Marathon. I never ran that one, only a few road marathons, but a friend’s sister and her husband were in the Dark Peak Fell Runners Club at one time. That type of ‘hard-core’ off-road running has always been beyond my capabilities.
