Planet Calypso News: Secret RDI Laboratory - Sector C1

Discussion in 'Planet Calypso' started by EP-Newsbot, Apr 20, 2021.

  1. A secret off-grid Research Center, utilized for illegal biological research by the Research and Development Institute (RDI) was recently discovered on Calypso.

It was revealed that the Research Center, situated underground, south of Fort Medusa, had been used by the RDI for experiments on the Calamusoid species. The experiments, aimed at creating new super bio-weapon creatures, seem to have gone terribly wrong and left the Research Center in a state of horror and chaos.

Colonists quickly explored the Research Center’s first level, Sector A1.

Fighting through waves of experimental creatures abandoned in the hazardous lab environment, colonists have begun to collect bits of experimental equipment developed by the RDI. Passkeys to another level, Sector B1, were also discovered.

Sector B1 revealed evidence of additional and even more horrifying experiments conducted by the RDI. The creatures found in Sector B1 were even more fearsome than those in A1. The rewards to be found were hard-earned, but worthwhile.

Now colonists have found keys to access yet another area of the laboratory, Sector C1.

If Sector B1 was terrible, Sector C1 reveals new depths of RDI’s megalomania. The sheer size of the laboratories and the structural damage visible in images shared by the few intrepid colonists who have dared to enter Sector C1 are almost unimaginable.

Many questions remain unanswered: What was the purpose of Sector C1? Was the RDI experimenting with something even more fearsome than the Calamusoid? What treasures await those brave enough to delve so deep into the Secret RDI Laboratory?

As someone who has written RDI based fan fiction, I have to say I am super chuffed that MA have been drawing upon RDI for new content, especially the calumasoid stuff as that always really interested me in the original storyline.

This said though... waves of creatures doesn't inspire confidence that it's something I can experience or participate in. It's a real shame everything about Entropia has to be so money driven. It would be nice if MA just did something occasionally for the love of it that everyone can have a go at without being uber, without everything being a thinly veiled excuse to create another mob spawn.

Anyhow, really I need to withhold comment until I've actually checked out this addition... if indeed I can.

In short +1 for old story revival and RDI... possible -1 for everything being about mob spawns.

Do you really still play this outdated game, Wis?
It is soo old, graphics and story are pretty lame and it's expensive if you want to enjoy it. I play TESO since alpha in 2014 with some breaks. They want my money too, but at much smaller amounts than in EU with same result.

Hey @Jamira sadly not really but I still have a love for the old story so don't mind saying I'm pleased MA are putting it back in the picture even if only a little bit or an inaccessible way. I've not been in* since probably November or maybe even earlier. I even forgot about Christmas gifts and possibly even Halloween ones.

Mostly I'm working on my own projects in my spare time. Games wise I play Elite with some friends and also enjoying Tales of a Neon Sea. Had some fun the other day exploring Guardian ruins for the community goal. It's a bit of a cheat but we discovered the relic obelisks that grow out of the ground can be re-triggered with a re-log so enjoyed flying around in the SRV using the jets over these trenches. I'd do a couple of bounces to get to the first one from my ship, then a big one to get to the second one, then could fly over the whole lot on the way back with a decent run up. Kinda reminded me of Armageddon movie. I do like playing around with the SRV.
