MindArk would never ever agree to hand over such matters. And what's to say these new people cannot corrupt? As much as I dislike it, I think it's safer and easier to let MA handle it, than handing over control to just anyone. So the police ARE working for MindArk then? That still means everything is "under Draconian control". And about the comment regarding "skilled and qualified" people, have you tried talking to a Dutch cop? "Skilled" and/or "qualified" are not exactly terms that come to mind when dealing with your average Dutch police officer.
The idea does not mean complete handover of control. best if the idea is implemented by Mindark themselves, and choose by merit which collonists are eligble for training. Account and ava Locked for the duration of the investigation etc. You can therefore immagine how stringent training must be and also what kind of responsibility that carries. even PK abilities outside PK zones for example. Not lootable OFC, but in certain curcumstances nececary. avas respawn anyway lol. official Police gear like , armor, weaponry, etc. must be of such a high quality that any ubah, fully pimped out with ubah gear, must think twice before taking on any EPS. Always on patrol in twos, covering each others, 6s:) When logging in for duty at term, you are assigned a budy when choosing patrol-duty, both must log and initiate to resume patrol in twos. Suppose many jobs can be selected, even case-by-case basis, investigating, interviewing avas, stake-outs, APBs, etc. Suppose you can surmise from all my responses that this idea is quite extensive and very detailed and also well thought out. So that they may sollely have to concentrate on tecnical matters and so on. O yeah I almost forgot. Drones and any mechanoids are impervious to the invizibility chip, due to their ability to scan-see the entire visible and invizible visual spectrum. Old scams seem to come on regular waves.. color your armor, upgrade your armor, remove item from trade window.. ect I don't think reputable members of the community would fake screenies to warn new folks on these scammers. The bulk of the experienced community would also smell a scam-scam from 3 pages away!!
Old scams is not really what concerns me so much. Ultimately Lykke+VF will have to look at how this section develops but I am very near to certain that this situation 711 described will again occur here. The good thing is that there is awareness about it from the get go here on EP, so it will be interesting to see how this develops.
while naming scammer can bear a lot of problems it also doesnt help much. discovered scammers usually disappear and make a new avatar with another name to continue ..

MindArk does not support the idea MindArk does not support the idea Even if MindArk supported the idea they will never give players access to the log files If such a thing were implemented you would have all kinds of cases of bias and corruption Even without actual bias or corruption, the entire system would be bogged down simply with accusations of bias and corruption On top of all of that, at the end of the day Shinobi, you are still the guy who threatened to bomb MindArk's offices and your account is permanently locked. It is very obvious that you missunderstood my idea outright. A lot of the tech work is done by MA tech staff. Take for example how Jon managed to run his club CND with MA in a grand symbiosis. Sure Jon legally owns the astroid like property and all that. Just that the collaboration is a great example in implimenting the idea. Good point! Although the naming thing has helped people in the past. Not always shaming, but when an avatar see's a post that sombody mistakenly paid 4k ped on their 40 ped auction.. they usually refund the extra.
To the EP site owners & mods: I see value in this, but ... At the same time I see many issues and child-minding that will need to take place of those who are involved in the process and are not in objective state of mind. Tempers can flare and blow out of proportion causing grief and potentially damaging un-necessarily the profile of a member of the community and the forum itself, especially with reference to those in the forum audience that are impressionable and do not assess all the facts. I would be very careful with allowing this mods, it will require extyremely heavy, consistent and neutral perspective moderation and may tear down the reputation (profile) of the forum over time, including your own personally ingame as a knock on effect. ^^ People usually have issues in seperating the person from the job being undertaken. Look at 711 & Neomaven and the impact that one job (EF) has had on other aspects of his involvement in Entropia and visa versa. A happy medium will need to be sort for and established over time that you guys (mods) are comfortable with. I have my concerns however you never know until you learn from first hand experience if offering this level of discussion freedom will be of benefit or turn away people from EP and to what level it may impact other aspects of your own involvement with Entropia Universe. Addition: Furthermore I am under the impression that Lykke & Peter would like to make EP a place where FPC and other partner world officials can become involved in discussions on EP through directly posting in threads. From a business perspective I would assume by default they would first assess the forum operating practices (ie. Rules/Guidelines of operation and as to when and how they are applied) and to what extent they perceive them to be kosher and conducive to their involvement with EP before making such a commitment to endorse EP as a site audience they will involve themselves with in responding directly to in topics of discussion. The partner world officials will always be quite busy and do not want their head-space taken up with the thought of 'I wonder if all hell is breaking loose over my post on EP' Sure this does occur from time to time, however to have this as a constant thing on your mind while your trying to get work done can become rather distracting. EF has evolved to a point where limits & constraints are in place and enforced by the moderators to ensure a as safe an operating environment as possible for all, participating forum members and partner world service provider(s) alike. I am not sure such naming and shaming and the potential knock on effects (Such as those quoted by Pirx in post # 25) of conflict and the degredation of forum audience demeanor with reference to such drama (topics of discussion) would be considered conducive to the partner world service providers whereby they would not wish to associate themselves on an officially represented level to any significant degree beyond the occassional interview or post once in a blue moon.
mind if I dissagree? MA can initiate an IP adress ban using pingplotter or something not sure. I being the prime example here of a banned player. No matter how many accounts or e-mail adresses i start up, there is no way I can play the game. Kids! You cant talk the talk if you havent walked the walk.
That is wrong, and you don't need a "pingplotter", MA knows your IP as soon as you kick up the client loader. I will not tell you how to obtain a new IP (i could, but then again... noooo ), but it is definitely not too hard, even for a total tech noob.
How does that work with DHCP? I'm far from an expert but I know how to refresh my cable modem/router IP. You sure they don't use MAC? EDIT *nevermind I finished reading :)
You may have noticed my absence for a week. It so happens that my PC got hacked and seriously infected by trojans and some viruses that atach themselves to exe and HTML files. Over 56 in total I think. Anyway it was so bad I couldnt even get myself online or do anything. This morn I got fed up, went into DOS and reformatted my entire C: Even bought me new antivirus software etc. its running now like never before;) Somehow I discovered my IP adress erased and all vallues at 0.0.0.0. Bloody strange if you ask me. Besides my modem has been off for days. I am sure I have a new IP after reformating and installing all my software etc. Perhaps its easy to obtain a new IP, but I have no intrest in starting a new account wihtout MA aproval anyway. I tried once and TBH, the hassle is too daunting. Nah! Dont tell me , I dont wanna know. I am running on a LAN cable connection. Sure the provider can give me new IP if I ask, but wont;) With MA aproval there in no need to keep looking over your shoulder or be carefull what you say, etc. Eh! Correction. Still have same IP adress as before LOL Tried to go to ER and immediatelly got notification that this IP is banned LOL Thats how I know. Strange tho cos my Modem was unplugged for days.
The point is Scammers dont have their options open to them when dealing with MA support. If mindark wants you never to enter the game again, no matter how good a hacker you are, you wont get in, trust me.
If MindArk wants to deny you access to their game, do they not have that right? Especially after you threatened to bomb their offices?
