Not dead. Most people view as guests as usual. At the moment as I write this there were 447 guests and one member logged in.
Dead in the sense that no one is making new posts other than yours which are repeats, and that none of the admins have made any post for a long time.
It's not the admins' fault, or what could they possibly do about it at all. Do you have an idea? Regardless of all the best intentions, the discussion happens elsewhere. And most importantly of all, a forum attached to a game should be a means to to interact with the developer, or given the sporadic nature of our specific one, at least be heard. They do read what you have to say over there, and occasionally you do get a sign, however subtle, that your opinion or suggestion was considered. This does not happen here because it is not the forum they own. However, this place is an equally important outlet for things which they don't allow you to publish on their own site. Sometimes it's really necessary. But if nothing of that sort happens for a while, is it a good thing or a bad thing? Depends on viewpoint, I guess.
It's been said before that there is traffic here from "certain places". So indeed they are watching. As for discussion elsewhere I hear tell a fair amount is removed. Only evidence I've seen myself though is that there was a thread I posted in and the whole thread was removed. No biggie but certainly interesting. But indeed there isn't much to say.
It would be good to know they are reading elsewhere, too, and that they get the hint when censorship is not tolerated in some matter important at least to someone. But there is no chance of getting any interaction. There is a reason why the link to the Wayback Machine is in my sig now, both here and there. Use it to preserve what is important to you, every time you write something you think might bother someone "up there" enough to wish it wasn't there, or to preserve someone else's contribution in the same vein.
You say it's not the admins fault, but when many of their posts seem to denigrate much of the game and it's developers, then casual visitors will feel that the game is not worth playing and so won't sign-up to the forum; EP won't increase it's active member base. This is not to say that I disagree with a lot of their observations, but I do feel a more positive approach would be a step in the right direction.
I suspect you are confused about who the admins are. Technically "NotAdmin" is not an admin and they are the most negative about MA of the Admins... at least in my opinion. I think NotAdmin may actually still BE an admin but I don't think they have time or inclination to still contribute effort to the running of the forum (whatever that means in practice I'm not certain). Possibly they fancy they do... but just haven't realised yet that the reality is their heart and free time preferences are elsewhere. I hope that is a fair comment but apologies to NotAdmin if I got the wrong impression there. It's not the most helpful name even though. I get that it literally says "I am not an/the Admin". Sorry NotAdmin if there are activities you are involved in behind the scenes that I'm not aware of. I note too that I've not been around of late (I have my reasons and believe me I'd love to have been here more) so it's a bit pot kettle black. I guess that's just a convoluted way of saying switching back to an old Entropia forum name or something might give a clearer message. Anyhow this aside. NotAdmin doesn't post much (plus only a fraction are about MA/negative) and nor does anyone else. There's a simple reason for this. It's summer, people have other stuff going on. There's not actually a great deal of difference between EP and PCF really if you take away all the sale threads on PCF. I really don't think there is any correlation whatsoever between who/what is posted here re. negativity towards MA and the amount of people posting/number of posts. Ironically, it probably makes the site more popular as it kind hangs a lantern that there is free speech here and a thread won't be deleted simply because someone asked about a historical scam... not even a current one... talk about the ministry of truth... Not every site has to be super dynamic either. Nothing wrong with a good archive. That still has oodles of value and I still hope that one day we'll be able to grow that archive a bit more too. That's on me though to put in the time/effort I know. As an aside. The forum doesn't have to be and isn't just about Entropia. A nice thing is that discussion of any games or even personal topics are welcomed and supported. We have threads on 3D printing and boat building projects here not to mention other games. Anyhow just some thoughts Wistrel (and sorry again about my absence)
I had the impression that NotAdmin was still maybe an admin and is one of the founders of EP and that Tass is the official admin. Whatever the admin situation actually is, it was the case that very little was being posted for weeks on end until I put this topic up and that admins weren't saying anything either. So that's why I posed the question 'Any future plans for an EP revival?', as things seemed to be running a bit flat.
The way I see it the admins have done a great job in providing a platform for us. The rest is up to us. There is no compulsion in logging in or posting and discussing things on here. The majority of the people on this site do not log in and post or discuss anything. Why they choose to behave like that is a bit of a mystery to me. However, even on pcf most people do not post compared to the number of visitors as indeed with most forums. The one's who do post are always a minority compared to the total.
I didn't say they hadn't, the forum is very good and professionally done, but it has to be considered that many casual visitors will be very new to EU or won't know anything about it at all. If they see too many posts saying how bad the game has become and that it's a ripoff, then they may want to quit EU or not sign-up and probably won't want to join EP.
This is the whole reason I haven't posted in a while ;-) I've been crazy busy with work, a new relationship and a bunch of other stuff going on in my life. Gaming in general hasn't really had a main focus in the last few months, and if/when I do have some time for it I'd rather spend it doing something I enjoy.
This is probably true for most of us. There is a lot to life beyond Entropia. In my case simply just being able to function in life and do some subset of things I enjoy is about as much as I could handle over the last year.
Same here. Priorities change. I figured out I can put the time, money and stress into starting a RL business instead of a virtual one. It's a whole new fun and exciting game with even higher stakes. Here is our new "Mothership"
