We were actually talking about this yesterday ... Peter and I. The new updates have been great, and I'm personally impressed with both the vehicles implemented and the new gateway. There seem to be a better communication with MA too - and I personally tried the new support system, which I also really like! Despite my own stupid mistake this week, I have been crafted for 2 week, and I have to say my returns have been much better than the last half year (at least) before that. When I look in the tracker I see a LOT of globals coming in - and so is my impression when I'm in game. The new missions might bore some, but I find them quite entertaining - also, the vehicles gives so much more activities and makes everything more fun. There are still some things I personally believe the game is lacking - for example a better PM system, a mail system, the possibility for searching people in game, a possibility to delete a bid from auction, if you're the last bidder (DOH :D ), less lag, and some bugs, which would be great to get rid off - I could probably mention a lot more if I really think about it - but this is main what I remember at this min. I wish to flush my negativity and I somehow feel hope again. Am I the only one??
Time will tell. The new stuff is refreshing now, how will it be in 6 months? I sort of think that to keep this feel they need to maintain a certain level of new stuff rolling in. Games like atlantica have the new content flow thing down pretty good, something new every week.
I agree that over the last year, since (and including) the cryengine update, there have been many positive updates. The game looks better and many fun stuff has been added. That being said, the latest financial reports do not look good and the player base doesn't seem to be growing. The biggest problem which they have not addressed yet is the cost to play. It is too hard to progress and have fun on a budget of 10-20 usd a month. I hope there is a bright future for this game.
The game sure has a much more positive vibe when I log in now. Always heaps of soc members online which certainly improves the social side of the game. I agree that there is room for improvement, a mail system would be great to have in game. To think back when MA/FPC were saying that following the introduction of CE2 that new content would come more regularly I think they have definitely done that. And yeah I agree that their communication has been really good lately. I've always played EU with a certain eye to the future, so with the current rate of new content I sure feel positive about how the game will be in 12 months time.
I've always been biased towards the developers, ok I'm quite the fanboy. Recently however, I've seen much more positivity and activity, especially since the vehicle update. The recent updates have been implemented amazingly well compared to the old ones and MA seem to be managing the Cryengine surprisingly well considering it's not even built for MMO platforms and how they literally had to learn it from scratch last year. I'm convinced that this is just the beginning. Things are starting to move now and I'm positive that we'll see all kinds of growth from the Entropia platform in the months and years to come. Nice to see you regaining that spark Lykke :)
Agreed Lykke. I think an obvious test is just looking at the fact that every new update is nolonger greeted with a torrent of angst! People either seem to stay quiet, calmly report the bugs knowing full well they will be fixed in a mini or next update or say positive things. It certainly seems a happier planet to be on. I agree on the missions though. MA claimed the mission system was pretty darn epic. I havn't properly tested the crater ones yet but from what I hear people are not generally knocked out by them. After Entropia Gateway | A Man with a Mission that: Maybe they are introducing complexity with time, ie to get us used to such things and FPC themselves to writing them. I was hoping for scripted events (not just dialog but actual things happenning in game) and such forth to come out of missions. I get the impression that hasn't happened to far? Wistrel
I've only been playing a few months, so from a certain perspective Im really not qualitifed to say much about the game itself. What I can do though is comment on what appears to be a higher level of communication between FPC/MA and its customer base than many other MMOs. When I first came to Entropia in January I read alot of complaints people had about the new player experience. People said it was not adequate, and essentially railroaded you into depositing to play a game you knew nothing about. I tended to agree. In order to try out swords I either had to subject myself to quite a few weeks of sweating in order to get the capital for a sword, armor, a heal kit, and plenty of repairs --- or I had to deposit. I chose deposit. While this particular situation has not changed (theres no sword mission) a new player can at least get a sense of how the combat works ingame -- and they get it in an atmosphere that explains the game and provides quite a bit of history and ambiance. It appears FPC/MA have listened to the players. How long it took may be a topic of discussion, but in the end they listened and thats what counts. I think everyone agrees vehicles were a great addition. Im not going to go into that. Ive also experienced some good returns while crafting lately. Im sure they tweak the system over and over again to fine tune deposits vs expenditures. While I dont expect this run to last I do find it refreshing -- and if it is a response to player outcries of poor loot -- well great. I dont think it is, but anything is possible. My point is this: FPC/MA have their own schedule and to a certain point need to keep things secret until just prior to release. Otherwise folks would start investing long in advance and like insider trading on the real stock market, it would tilt the scales abnormally towards the profit of a select few. Regardless of FPC/MA's schedule though, they do seem to be taking player opinions into consideration, and adding tweaks to improve things based on what we say. Thats a nice thought to have about a game developer, isnt it?
To give a short answer: Long term, maybe, yes - for now, it is just too much stuff added, heck i didn't really find the time to try the new MF system (except some focusing and healing) - nor visited RT... now we got cars, and a shotload of other stuff... and somehow i can't catch up with all the new things atm. Maybe it's only me, due to lack of time, but EU feels less and less like the game i loved to play. It may target a lot of new players with the cars and new graphics, but it certainly has lost a good part of it's "me vs. wilderness" charme with all the "vehicle mounted guns" and such...
Like Wizz, I havent had a chance to see or do all the new things. Unlike wizz, I think this is a good thing. I can keep doing my thing, grinding mobs, crafting, whatever, and know that whenever I need a change of pace I can just go do a couple new missions. I am hoping to get further and further behind the curve. That will mean I will always have more and more options when I want them. (and my society is getting big enough that I dont as responsible for knowing EVERYTHING to teach the recruits anymore. The soc conglomerate has done everything that a recruit may want to know or ask about and thats good enough for me) Im loving the game more and more even though I am playing a bit less due to RL right now. gl and have FUN :) narfi
There are certainly a lot of new and fun things added in the game, the new NAZ is a bit plus to let new people learn the game. They do need a bit of tweaking there, but the overall idea is great. Vehicles I am still not sure about, sure it is fun to drive one, but thats all they are for now, fun. This was my view also long before they were introduced, I mean why have vehicles when we have TP's and MindForce teleportation. But at least they are adding stuff to the game, which is a good thing of course and I hope they will keep adding useful stuff, just don't overdo it is my advise, take it easy and don't add all the new idea's withing 6 months and then be out of idea's for the next 5 years, spread it out a bit.
well from what I can tell the planet seemed more alive the last few weeks. Went to the gateway today and found a few hundred people there and a fpc oficial asking about bugs which I found pleasing. Cars are fun but they've spoiled me somewhat since now I don't have patience to run from nea's tp to the sweat group cause it looks as if i'm moving to slow. About the loot though I have to disagree. Did some hunts on small and bigger mobs alike and a mining run or 2 and the returns weren't even 80%, they were 50%, of course that's just my luck. Bonus for me: basic filters are used for something and they have a positive mu now :)
I see where Wizz is coming from. The colionist part of the colonist MMO seems like it could be getting smaller and smaller. We have cities, apartments, malls, cars, landlords... I find a bit of solace in two things: There is still a large portion of Calypso that is unmapped and unused. This is a space based MMO. Whats to stop MA from eventually opening up colonies on the rest of the planets in this system, opening up a space station to explore, and opening up the lands around both CND and Crystal Palace to appropriately dressed individuals who wish to explore and mine on foot. Regarding the massive load of content being introduced -- I view this as a good thing. Planet Partners likely have their own ideas on what types of games they are wanting to introduce, but without seeing the basics go live on Calypso first their game development may be hampered. So in short -- new content here means to me that the planet partners are one step closer to their own releases. Not so bad.
Entropia is becoming a harder game to play, because mindark is eliminating Free Chance play possibilities, closing loop-holes, pushing people into more control to pay more and more by encouraging depositing; The trick to lure newbies to Rock Tropia was a genius plan; Today, half the newbies i meet are desperate to write Support cases to become transferred back to Calypso, where at least some people reside; Greed of people will always make this world turn round, just do not forget, that greed is actually a Sin in the world of believers, and it originates from Devil; Those who do not belive in Angels & Demons can, of course, keep on living in "real" world of calculated profit making and disbelief in higher powers; So, this casinoe online gambling is becoming more organised to reach it's intended goal - take as much money away from it's players as it is practically possible! Good work, geniuses of Mindark! I salute you! Don't forget, that very much of money invested into game is being "white washed" by "dirty" investors and parts of it may come from drug trade, prostitution, illegal weapons trade, tax evasion and such!
Lol. So seriously dude, whats different from this and any other form of entertainment? Baseball games cost money, people trade cards, and true enthusiasts pay tens of thousands for collectors items. Bars cost people hundreds of dollars a night. Martial arts classes cost a regular fee per month, plus equipment tournament, and travel fees, only for a chance to win. How is EU different from any other piece of entertainment? I believe some folks in this world just want something for nothing. This is why welfare and communism exist. But its not how the world works, its just a guilt mechanism for lazy people to justify their own personal greed while at the same time excusing their lack of desire to pursue the means to an end.
Oleg sweety, I dont believe Aesstreld is Shinobi at all. You can ask my Mom Evey who is in contact with him through facebook and Skype. His account in EU is still delleted and he is still banned from this forum. Trust me I know. dont be so parranoid . I am pleased tho that FPC is improving with so many things. And I agree with aunty Lykke and uncle Peter completelly. Its great. And Aesstreld, dont start on relligious stuff in this forum, its a bannable offence here and thats what got Shinobi banned. People have the freedom to choose sides, even if it means that the majority in the world willingly choose the losing side. Let them!!! It is Biblically correct for the times we live in and you being a believer should know this. I do know what you mean about Rocktropia and the peops stuck there. The place with all its features and symbolism made me feel like I was in Hell also, thats the identity of RT. To all those desperate souls stuck on RT, there is no escape from Hell, MwaaHa Ha Ha ha! abandon all hope!
