  2. When people do the replies to the questions they should use the trade chat.
It is annoying to see numbers and numbers on the chat and not being able to filter it.

  3. i agree i was trying to get some help and asked 4 times in chat but the numkbers and stuff were so busy that i couldnt see any replies.

when i asked about it the people at this party were so rude to me, i hope this isnt what the whole game is going to be like

  4. Ive been to more than a few of these parties, and though the spam can get annoying nobody in the party is outright rude to new players --- most people in the parties are new players and want to know the same things.

If someone was legitimately rude to you, it was likely an isolated incident. I have however seen question askers be rude to party attenders, spam their questions over and over again in attempts to get attention, and adopt other tactics which are generally regarded as poor form not only in Entropia, but across the internet.

Fortunately few if any attenders of these parties judge Entropia based off the actions of a few disgruntled newbies who happen to be frustrated by an event happening they dont understand (even though theyre invited to attend over and over again throughout the event).

  5. ok well firstly Magyar i would say that i am not in any way rude and i dont like spamming, which is what some may call the page upon page of numbers flying through main chat from the "event"(i would consider that as Bad Form in an area thats there to help new players like myself).

secondly you seem to talk in a very negative manner about newbies i fully understood the so called event and i am sure it would be a great thing elsewhere or in the other chat channels but in main chat and at that place it is annoying to anyone that wants to learn the game and doesnt want to stand around dancing

Hippity, if you have any questions i'd be more than happy to answer them if i can or direct you to someone if i can't. PM me if you like and we can go from there.

The majority of people in EU are decent folk but when you get a mob of people together like at Swamp, it can sometimes degenerate into a bit of a mess.

Hope this experience hasn't put you off though as EU can be very rewarding in the long run.

I think Magyar and Hippity both bring valid points to the surface ...

First, I can appreciate how very challenging it is to get someone's attention in a quite crowded place where the chat channel is constantly involved. I think many of us have been in that situation, and ... as one who has hosted radio shows and on-air coverage of events, it's quite easy to miss a request or question in the chat channel, only later to have to apologize for doing so. I don't feel it's intentional, but rather the result of a fast moving chat box when there's so much activity.

Second, I can also appreciate the efforts on the part of Entropians who have been around a while and who want to help our new colonists. One of the things that is very common is taking a place like Swamp Camp where (obviously) newbies congregate, and give them a flavor for other things within our environment that are available for fun, along with creating activities and events for prizes that in-turn offer help to someone new in their exploration.

Third, there's also appreciation for those who are a bit more serious about learning the ins and outs of our universe, and seek help in navigating such. It's easy to misinterpret a request for help as spam when it isn't responded to, and (perhaps) be seen as being rude or intruding, when the intention is far from the truth.

Swamp Camp is a starting point, and certainly considered a learning environment where new arrivals can be guided by the more seasoned veterans of our universe. Maybe a step back to determine how this particular environment (location) could be best served as a teaching ground might be something to think about. :dunno:

For the most part, I think those who get involved like Roni and other groups are very well-intentioned with what and how they engage with our new colonists. Unfortunately, it may not always be the most pleasant experience for everyone.

Also, I think Hippity was offering his experiences based on the event, which MG Mighty did as well, and saying (in so many words) that perhaps some thought could be given to how the event was managed to make it a better experience overall.

As a final note ... perception and interpretation of personal experiences is quite subjective and real, and perhaps experiencing a perceived rudeness on the part of some players as a brand new colonist very well could make one wonder if this might be a general attitude throughout the game. I can also see where it might put someone off, but perhaps not so immediately that they would walk away without exploring further.

To Hippity ... I would encourage you to hang around, and get to know this community as many of us have. It's a great community, and as Magyar has mentioned, perhaps it was just an isolated incident, because this is not the general behavior throughout the game. I also don't feel that Magyar has a negative attitude toward newbies, because he is quite involved in helping our new colonists, and has done a wonderful job.

Give it a chance ... there are many available willing to help. :)

  8. Hi guys and thanks for the offer of help EwoK, and to Mindstar for a nice post, i have found a number of good people as i went exploring and they are been very helpful in advising me what to do and how to get myself started after i deposit in the game.
i may accept that i was a little harsh to magyar and maybe i misread his post, however the initial post was in reply to the spammed numbers at sweat camp during that competition which i stand by as been very annoying and offputting, but thats my opinion as a new starter.

i hope to bump into you all soon as i explore the great landscapes and find new places.
