I agree, balance is good. It doesn't matter how smart you play if you are unlucky you are going to loose. Also it doesn't matter how stupid you are if you are lucky you will win. Those two simple facts are what make this such a complicated game. I don't know the answers and have spouted off too much already :/ sorry. But I believe that the complexity of this game and the RCE is what makes it such a fun challenge for me. Because it is a RCE you are competing with thousands of players each one of which wants to loose the least and profit the most. This makes even the solo activities extremely competitive. It isn't just about lowering your defensive decay or increasing your dmg/pec. It is about finding the nich items and resources that you can profit from when your lucky, or slow down your bleeding when your not. These things will usually not be from popular activities or mobs since people are willing to pay to participate in them. But you can still do fun things, you just have to be willing to do them in a way others aren't. You have to be able to watch the markets and understand when there is an imbalance that you can take advantage of. Because it is rce though, these are always changing on an almost daily basis.

A couple of examples from my experience,
I wanted to study skill gains so I did a project with an S30 and then a CB5 so I camped merp with them. (yes I know low level, but I was studying and knew It wouldn't cost me anything) It was within the month or two after blazers were introduced and I profited + skills for over a month because you get the same number of blazers regardless of mob size and they had high markup. I would have significantly different results if I tried to do those same projects today because blazars have droped in markup and with the introduction of merp missions everyone is hunting them so the wool also has low markup.

I had access to an unlimited Bicak Kek so I camped drones. The Kek has lower dmg/pec than I like, but during that period Gazz had a markup of 135% and so I profited. When it dropped below 125% I stopped hunting drones.

With the introduction of the missions everyone started hunting like mad so I switched to mining which I hadn't done since the first year I started playing. With the increased markup on resources from fewer miners I had a profitable month mining and skilling.

The day of the first car givaway there was a VU download. As soon as I logged on I crafted some basic components and looted 4 car component bps(L). Realizing that the drop rate on them must have increased I auctioned them as fast as I could before the market dropped out from under them.

I don't know everything, and I have lost a lot of ped trying things that didn't work out. (for example I'm learning that my MF-104 and OF-105 that worked great on calypso can only find oil/lyst on rocktropia :/ ) But that is the beauty of this game, its a constant competition against everyone else for the ped.

  2. Seconded. My first 3 months in EU were spent using Eco gear and having the EF community insist I was doing something wrong. I could have screamed till I was blue in the face (in fact I might have) but nobody heard the facts, instead they spouted whatever they thought might get them a gift HOF from MA.

It was me who ended up having to restructure my gaming to a point where I felt like what I was doing was actually worthwhile. Did that make me profitable? No. Raw hunting/mining/crafting will never be profitable for me. Im not one of the lucky few. I ended up having to get creative. The game is now socially fulfilling for me, and I help make the starting process better for alot of new players now due to my change in philosophy. Some of those players can even claim substantial profit based on what I have taught them. As for monetarily fulfilling, well --- we cant have it all.

I can also Second your longtooth experience. Over the long term the Longtooth hunts have been a break even experience for me, but I have to be willing to lose 2000-3000 PED before I make it back.

  3. I'm very sorry, sad that so many experience the same thing I experience. And yet I'm still glad that one person in the entire game (narfi) is intelligent enough to break the barriers.

I'm specializing in ecohunting, since I have done so for maybe 1.5 years now using only my

    1. Gun: Unlimited HL8 + (A105 or A102 (got one of each)). OR (L) things below 110%
    2. Armors: 100-110% armors (Aurora (L) // Bear (L) // Boar (L) // Polaris (L) and so forth), but never oldfashioned armors like ghost UL and 5B plates.
    3. FAP: Lowest % boublefap for chrisis healing (rare healing in fights due to lvl 50ish evader) and an Unlimited Adjusted Hedoc SK-20 for inbetween combat healing.
    4. Selling: EVERYTHING over 105-108% when I have enough of it, rarely TT anything other than below 105%.
    5. Hunting: Mobs that drop markup oils, guns, items.. Like Sumima, Scipulor, Chompers when gambling (which is super rare). I hardly ever hunt regenerating mobs - other than tiny trox at NW ithaca when everything else fails.
    6. Skills: I also try to take my skills into account as well - skillgain is also profit when you get them..
What I dont think is ok is that doing the above and keeping an eye on everything, still always results in max 80% return.. THATS what Im pissed about 2bh.

And narfi - I do somehow take it as a insult that you say I'm doing the mathmatically incorrect - I'm not, Im not so blonde that I can't calculate the logical in game and if U read above U might notice I also has some knowledge of the game.

@LVL 85-86 Laser Pistoleer HIT + Ranged Laser DMG - one should expect to be able to be able to use P5A or HL8 at max with biggest chance of break even. :umn:

  4. I understand where the OP is coming from.

I recently, for the first time, posted an absence announcement on my society website. I just wanted my soc mates to know that I was alive and well despite not logging into EU for weeks.

The reason is that it doesn't seem like fun any more. I've had losses over the almost five years I've been in game, but have not minded depositing to pay for the game. However, in recent times those losses seem to be accelerating, meaning I spend less time ingame.

Mindark really need to open their eyes. I'm now filling my time with a PS3. I can pay full price for a game on the PS3 and it will cost me £30 - 40. That something like 500 - 650 peds if my maths are correct. As we all know, 500 - 650 peds can be lost in a few hours if you go for a big mob, mine alot or craft alot. Or it can last months on the playstation.

Really, what option is a sensible person going to chose?

exactly correct and I second this completelly. I rather spend my money in the shop to get me a DVD game for my PC. Recently I played out games like halflife 2 episode 1, Crysis, Prey, Mass Effect 2, etc. So much more worth my money in funfactor.

Swedish GREED has ruined Entropia Universe forever. Sadly I had to do the same thing with my SOC. I miss the old days when I could through ingame activities be a active soc-member.

Why dont MA get it? If they keep it cheap they can milk more people that register and play. Now theyre taking a smaller group of depositors for all they got. Is it perhaps due to so many people who have left the game? If so why must we suffer for it?

Mindark is screwing themselves btw. If they dont fix it, les and les people will play EU. I see people chipping out a lot latelly due to exactly this very ugly side of Mindark. I also see a lot of players simply playin 2-3 days in a month and for the rest of the time no ingame activities at all. I depo 100 dollars and its gone in 2 days mining. Go figure. For the rest of the time I just dont log in anymore. But I am starting to think its not worth it wasting 100 bucks in 1-2 days this way. Yep, I might just cease outright.

  7. MindArk just doesn't realize that the best advertisement is worth of mouth advertisement... And not "THIS HUGE ITEM SOLD IN VIRTUAL LIFE" BULLSHIT.. The best thing is to keep a steady growing member amount that deposit what they can afford - instead of making 10 persons deposit 100k USD.

MindArk might have math I dont have... But for me Id prefer
100.000 members paying 100 USD a month instead of
10 members paying 100.000 USD per year.

Tom do you know whats even sadder? Theyre too damn smug and arrogant to even read what we write here and take heed. Theyre doomed by their own making. I think they prefer to read the other goodytwoshoes brownnosing forum where this subject probably isnt even up for discussion, cos peops starting a thread like this get kicked, slapped around and banned for it. Well tbh I wouldnt know I never step foot into the other forum. It feels too much like a kindergarden for the blind and mentally challenged. I vallue honesty and freedom of speech and maturity and thats where EPF is way ahead of the rest.

  9. Yep numerous ppl are banned at EF for speaking ill about MA, most likely MA control the forum by controlling 711 and moderators in some way - which in my mind sucks balls.. A company can only improve if they listen to their users... which they apparently chose NOT to do... :viking:

  10. This is fast turning into a full blown conspiracy thread. Let's keep the rampant speculation as to MA and EF's business motivations out of this discussion. We simply dont know... and running around pointing fingers just makes us look nonsensically angry. Ultimately that discredits anyone in this position.

Im not saying dont criticise MA, or EF, or Bob the Builder, or even Big Bird. If youve got something concrete to say about anything that can be backed up by verifiable evidence, then by all means say it. The problem lies in the he said she said's of speculation. If you do it whats to stop them from speculating about you and your motivations, rolling their eyes, and forgetting?

Very revealing. They get us addicted and look down upon us as if theyre supperior. Does any drugpusher have the feelings of resposibillity towards his junkies? Clearly this falls under the same.

It surprizes me that no-one started to seriously do a online anti-mindark campaign. You know hit the grass with a cane to chase the snakes. They run the whole thing in a way to render us clients totally powerless to do anything and they force their evil will in greed upon us. Theres gotto be a way to make em listen somehow. How do you get peops with warped perception and blinded by greed to realize their MO is totally wrong and seriously inflicting grief on people around the world? Do they care? Why not?

  12. By getting threads like this indexed in Google - the new users can find stuff they DIDNT think about MindArk and that will prevent them to be roughed down like us :P

I agree with Magyar. If there is solid proof for certain things, by all means, you will find a platform here to post it and make it known to the world. As stated before, our forum has one main interest, and that is providing information to Entropians (and gamers). If there is well documented proof of shady stuff going on, we have no problem hosting that, even if it would mean that the powers that be would feel rubbed the wrong way by it. So be it.

But speculation and hearsay serve no other purpose than a gossip party, which I do not think this forum is meant to be.

Oh, and the Godwin was also not neccessary. Just because you happen to have an issue with some Swedes does not mean the whole of Sweden is rotten to the core, and dragging in stuff that happened during one of the darkest periods mankind ever went through is just not right. As for heavy metal music, to each their own. Let's keep discussion about politics and such for other places...

He He He, I did not think about that. Yet human nature is such that a man must bump his head first to learn a lesson. Word alone might just not be enough. I mean many peops will indeed go ahead and start a account to play just to fall hard financially. Then theres human curiosity, and I suspect MA likes this part cos peops will get curious enough to go see what all the damn fuss is about. Good advertizement for em, yet they cant hold onto the new clients.

Ive been to Denmark once and I liked it. I find Danish peops way more mentally and humanly supperior to Swedish peops in general. Too bad the game was not invented by a Dane tho. I wonder....did the inventor actually foresee his invention to become what it is today? A greedmachine moneyvacuum or a fun-fun-fun game for all?

I still love the game and its well done, just that the way its mannaged and how it evolved over the years is just apalling. I am but a game junk wishing her pedsies can last a bit longer to have fun like before.

Has it ever occured to you uncle pete, that Mindark diabolically manages the whole thing in such a diabolic way as to render us helpless regarding proof? I honestly do not see heavy metal music as part of politics, but hey each for his own huh? I never said Entire sweden is rotten to the core, but if the shoe fits..... What happened in WW2 is past and history sure, what i was on about the possible results of that today.

But i appologize. as a human being I get fumed too u know. I wont say such things again.

Is Tom and myself liars? Do we realy need proof to voice our discontentment regarding our losses? How can we prove to you or anyone else the moneys we lost so fast? Why should we? When I have an issue against someone and he sais prove it, that is an admision of guilt in itself, he has somethin to hide. Uncle Pete, can you prove that your peds dont go as far as it used to before? Is not all the money-milking implimentations and lootpooltweaks proof enough? We are all collonists here talking about the same game right? Are Tom and I liars?

  16. I dont think the proof of anything lies in the fact that you or anyone else lost money, but rather in how you lost money, and whether that how is controllable by you, or controllable only by MA.

An advocate for MA at this point could discredit the arguments being presented here simply by saying that the user has a choice as to how much they deposit and what they do with those deposits.

In short -- you need something more concrete than a simple statement that people are losing money. In any speculative enterprise the speculator takes that risk.

I will let you know I havent changed the amount of my frequent depos or the style of mining. I dont think Tom has either. Not so very long ago a 100 Dollars US, lasted me weeks of fun gameplay, now it lasts a few days. Do the math!!!!

  18. Doing the math has absolutely nothing to do with it. Everyone knows the results in this game are not consistent. Its a speculation whether you or anyone else will do well or not on any given run. You knew this going into it.

Im not suggesting MA are angels. What I am suggesting though is that certain users dont seem to be able to come to grips with the fact that they themselves have caused their own financial losses in the game by continuing trends of large deposits to follow old habits which clearly are not working. You have alternatives. Use them.

    Take some personal responsibility.

  19. Something I want to add to my earlier post. I'm not someone to metaphorically beat Mindark over the head with critisism on a whim or for trivial reasons. But when I see the game (and it is a game, it provides entertainment regardless of the RCE aspect) going downhill sharply in the way that I feel it is, as a participant I have to say something.

Since VU10, we have lost taming, beacons, hangars and other stuff I can't remember right now. And we've gained shinney new graphics, tiers (a work of genius, by the way) and vehicles. But don't MA think that the stuff that wasn't re-implemented at VU10 should've taken precidence over the new stuff? The hangars are a great example of people not being able to earn back their investment because its not been re-implemented.

I truely believe that Entropia Universe/Planet Calypso has the potential to be great, but because MA have pissed so many people off with changes (and I'm not talking about simply doing things differently, like replacing peds in loot with animal oils) and the daddy-of-them-all the apparent mis-management of the loot system that now sucks people dry, I am honestly starting to think that in the not too distant future the EU platform will be on the brink of closing. Closing because people will think "fuck this, there's cheaper, better for value entertainment available than this."

  20. NotAdmin

I never said you were liars, and if you read a few posts back, I actually stated I can totally see where you are coming from. Not sure why you suddenly seem to think I'm after you or anything. It's rather obvious that for a great amount of players, the loot system is totally and utterly flawed, and I have absolutely no problem hosting discussion about that on this forum (though I do expect things to be discussed in a civilised manner). I doubt it will have any effect whatsoever on MindArk, though, as many people have tried stating the same pretty much for years already, and it's not as if they gave a rat's patoot about it.

What I do not want, though, is pure speculations to be voiced, without any shred of evidence other than a gutfeeling. Those kind of "discussions" have a tendency to go way out of hand way too fast. If you or Tom have some form of proof of a relationship between EF and MindArk (as was originally suggested by Tom, which you latched onto and elaborated on, which was when I stepped in) then by all means, post it for everyone to see.

But making blanket statements about what a whole country apparently did (and stating that as fact), has no place here. And the stuff about demons is exactly what ended up getting a certain person we both know removed from this forum...

This forum is not for religious or political discussions, and I will do whatever it takes to ensure that message will be understood.
