Entropia Planets Media Center (EPMC) We are proud to announce the creation of our very own Media Center, which will become the hub for all EP activities related to writing, event promotion (to include in-game and radio development), and graphics design (including a new forum product to be released in September :p ). Our goal is to provide not only fresh and revolving front page articles - with interesting and ongoing forum and game-related news, but other more engaging and fun activities, along with relevant sources of information that keep us entertained and connected. At the same time, we are also pleased to announce that MindStar9 will manage our new Media Center, and we will be working closely with her to tap into the talent within our community in order to build a solid staff of contributors. You will see this banner in MindStar's Profile: We feel it is important to have a good-sized staff in order to achieve our goals - and not only in the Media Center - because everyone’s schedule in the staff crew is not always amenable to large blocks of time to dedicate to something like this. It's not a secret that work on the forum should be fun, and that real life events should always come first. At this time, there is no (ped) pay for contributions, but each EPMC staff member will get a banner that says Media Team, and have an opportunity to earn perks along the way ;) We have some exciting projects already in production, and if anyone is interested in exploring the potential of becoming an EPMC staff member, please send a PM directly to MindStar9 and share what your skills are. We can already tell you, that it is important to have a good command of the English language, but an editing service will always be available if needed. ;) Take the first step, and become part of a team that is about to change the face of Entropia Planets. Thanks Razer ... this is an exciting time regarding the Media Center, because the possibilities are only limited by our creativity. The writing will not only be about the front page of EP, but will expand beyond that into other projects that will be entertaining and fun for the community. I have already begun tapping into the talent within our community, and I have a very structured way of doing so. Each potential Media Team member will be given a challenge relevant to what we want to accomplish at EP. The finished product of the challenge will determine where they may fit within the Media Center. There is also the potential for the end result to be published, and/or used as part of a specific project. These challenges are dependent upon how a potential Media Team member presents their skills and/or talents. It could be a writing, photography, graphics, video, or research challenge. Research could consist of collecting information, and/or scouting out something within our universe. The goal is to build the Media Center with enough staff to cover the types of projects we want to take on for the entertainment and enjoyment of the community. Personal schedules are respected, because everyone doesn't have an enormous amount of time to devote to an undertaking of this nature, especially when it is voluntary. Therefore, the intent is to have enough staff to keep things fresh and revolving on the front page, as well as other projects in the works that keep the fun and entertainment coming. With enough members in the Media Center, there won't be minimum requirements to produce a certain amount of work, but rather what you have time available to contribute. There are some exciting projects underway right now, and I think with time, the community will see just how serious we are about all of this, as well as what we're capable of doing. It's all for the community, and we want to give opportunities to our incredibly talented Entropians to showcase the specialness that they bring to our universe. The only thing I'll say at this point is ... you won't have to wait long! If anyone is interested in exploring possibilities as a Media Center team member, then please PM me and give a brief explanation as to what your skills and/or talents are, and we can go from there. I want to thank Lykke and Peter for this opportunity, because it is my belief that the community will be surprised with what comes out of the Media Center. The full purple potential hasn't been unleashed yet, so this could very well be a monster in the making.
Sorry to spoil your party here, but why does someone with 3 (in words: three) wiki contributions have a "wiki wookie" badge, whereas others, contributing way more and for a way longer time have none? That seriously looks like favoritism...
The Wiki Wookies are those who wish to help out with regular wiki updates. It's a public group everyone can apply for, and as soon as it is officially launched, it will be a group that does require certain activity in order for people to keep their badge. Nothing more, nothing less. If you want to discuss this further, feel free to PM me about it, instead of driving this thread off-topic.
I know how things might look, but it's quite the opposite, and perhaps you wouldn't have made accusations if you knew the following. I had actually asked to have the banner removed since I haven't been able to kick it into high gear with the Wiki work yet, but they knew that I would be jumping in with both feet soon, so they left it. We are extremely busy behind the scenes with several projects, and time is divided up to cover what we need to accomplish. Many are wearing several hats, and why we are looking forward to adding more people. As Peter said, eventually there will be a certain requirement to meet in order to earn the banner after this program is officially launched. However, my offer to make contributions to the Wiki is genuine, and there will be plenty that will have my tag, but for now, it's a time issue, which should be resolved in just a couple of days. Thank you for your concern though.
