Tweaking of the site. I made some minor changes here and there when I came across certain issues. Did some tweaking of the layout as well, so now the Mission Tracker, Teleporter Tracker, Conquest System, Arcade, and the frontpage wiki-module all fit the rest of the forum, and slowly but surely, things do seem to be coming together nicely. I'm hoping to soon be able to run yet another patch, which will bring some exciting functionality. I'm waiting for the creator of our skin/style to adapt for the latest version, and as soon as that is done, we ought to be all ready to go :) Mission Tracker HOF List Speaking of the Mission Tracker, a new feature has been added tonight, which shows you a live calculation of the amount of missions everybody registered. A soft of Mission Tracker HOF List so to speak :) We hope you will enjoy it! New games 27 new games have been added to the EntropiaPlanets Arcade, so all you game-lovers out there ought to have plenty to keep you occupied. We ensured all games are ready to play for everybody, as a way to celebrate the new forum Added Share button to forum threads and blogs Above all threads and within blog posts, you will now see a button that allows you to share a thread or blog with other people on any of the major networking sites. If you for instance like a particular topic that is being discussed, you're just a few clicks away from sharing it with everybody in your network. Simply hover over the button, pick the service you want to publish to (log in if neccessary), and you're all good to go! Added sidebar options On the forum page, you will now see a neat sidebar on the right-hand side of the screen. A few of the modules we added will ensure that the latest blog entries can be easily seen, as can the latest replies on the forum, and the latest few threads created in the Entropia News section. Reply button issue Regarding the issue with the reply button that was registered in our Bug Tracker, apparently the behaviour of it taking you to the Quick Reply editor instead of the full (advanced) editor is by design. I find it confusing and annoying as well, but have not yet managed to find a working fix for it. I toyed with a hack for a bit that did ensure the "Reply to thread/Post reply" button would default to send you to the advanced editor, but found that also completely disabled the Quick Reply functionality, which I deemed to be undesirable. Therefore, I figure it's best if I would explain how the current system is designed. It might not be the way we like it, but it's the way it works and until the people publishing the vBulletin forum software decide to change it, that's what we're stuck with. If you click the button once, it will take you to the Quick Reply editor. Double-click it, and you will get the behaviour you are used to, where it takes you to the Advanced Editor. I have added my vote to the list of people asking for a change in the system, so while that might not mean much, at least it will show that the designed functionality seems counter-intuitive to our users. Issue with adding pictures There was an issue when using the "My photos" option when replying/editing a post. This has now been resolved. Picture links should show up again, rather than the link leading to a blank screen. ********** Update with news from the August 28/29 weekend ********** EntropiaTracker integration vBulletin SideBar available in more places than just the Forums section Profile tabs in threads/posts Show your status Quicklink to your threads/posts For details about these additions, please check post #7 in this thread.
Wiki Missions Browser The Missions Browser is a little tool to access mission pages on the wiki more easily. (And it's just the beginning)
Rather than starting a new thread altogether, I figured I would merge this weekend's updates into the existing thread. Maybe you already noticed, but since last weekend, we offer you the latest 15 HOFs as recorded by EntropiaTracker. On the frontpage we added a module at the very top. Another place where these HOFs pop up is in the SideBar. Let me elaborate a bit on that. The SideBar is a new functionality in vBulletin 4, and it is a modular approach, much like the modules on the FrontPage. By default, it is only available on the Forums page, but since this weekend, we offer it in other places as well. It's not available everywhere, due to limitations in some of the products we use, or simply because there's no available room for it, but it has been enabled whereever I thought it would be feasible so far. The Sidebar can be found on the right side of the screen, and so far offers the latest blogs, latest threads in the Entropia News forum, and now also the latest 15 HOFs. I will look at possibilities of adding additional datafeeds to the site, so if you are hosting a service that is able to expose data to external clients, drop me a note and we can see what can be done. I already have one more integration task planned :) Also related to integrations and additional stats on the site, perhaps you noticed that your profiles next to posts look a bit tidier now. While working on the internal tracker bar before, I fellt that with the additional icons added, and all the other information, this lead to a situation where a single line post would still end up consuming a lot of space due to all the information in the profiles. Recently, I discovered a modification that allows for multiple tabs to spread the info across, and that was implemented this morning. As a result, you will now see some bullets, each containing specific information grouped by a topic. At this moment, it shows Forum statistics, real life info, Entropia Universe info (like information about your avatar), and Arcade info. [STRIKE]The Arcade does not work yet, but I will patch that up soon enough[/STRIKE]. I plan on adding additional information and tabs over time. One tab will, for instance, be dedicated to the icons bought from the EPD store, and I have plans on adding some more little info bits from tools from the forum to the profiles as well. Under the Forums section, there now is a dropdown menu for easy access to threads and posts made by you. Lastly, also in the profiles, I added a status option, similar to the one found on FaceBook. This allows you to share your status or mood with other forum users. This was activated briefly last weekend, but I ended up having to roll back some stuff when the profile tabs did not work out quite as intended last weekend. So it's back now, and this time, it's back to stay. That's about it for this weekend's work :) I know it's not exactly much, but it's pretty cool functionality (in my book anyway) ;)
You are doing a great job, keep up the good work Arcade is awesome something I miss... having a user cp type of thing button wise, is that possible?
On the upper right of the screen is a link called Settings. That is the User CP. I can change the wording on it to read "User CP" if that makes it easier... Done.
The Arcade tab should now display a list of all games you hold the high scores for. I also added a bit to the forum statistics part, allowing you to easily send PMs, Mails or Friend Requests (if the user has selected to allow for these types of actions)
The link on the front page that connects to the forum is broken: It points to http://www.entropiaplanets.com/forums/forums.php should be http://www.entropiaplanets.com/forums/forum.php
Bug Tracker CSS issues Earlier this week, the CSS code for the Bug Tracker was fixed so it supports the dark skin. Added new missions to the Mission Tracker All 17 known new missions were added to the mission tracker. Posts - Profile Tabs Within the tabbed setup for profiles in posts (which was implemented last week), the bullets now are a bit more centered. We also added counters for the Mission Tracker and Teleporter Tracker within Tab 3 (which covers the Entropia Universe related info). Stats for the EntropiaPlanets wiki were added earlier this week under the Forum Statistics tab.
