I realy dont wanna rock the boat and make waves. But this is what we get to see. First Joe Jeff buys a dome or two from ND. Then he hits a 11K USD mining tower on RT. Wouldnt it have been kinda easier if ND just handed him an envelope full of cash? Are stupid blonds like me supposed to understand that we should purchase domes first before ever hitting a tower on RT? Your thoughts on this pls :) Then again Joe is a guy who deffecates 109 amps on a regular bases. So it may be pure coincidence cos 109 amps is not quite the most popular amps baught by every miner due to the insane prices. It could be just the 109 amps :)
Isn't he also the guy who has that unlimited amp though? And he DID even before get most mining loot (at least one of the top something in the trackers) ...? I would not conspiraze much about this :) - doesn't mean I don't see were you're coming from. When I saw his ATH I just smiled and nodded as if that was already meant to happen ;)
I saw the HOF happen in game and thought about the same as you are saying now. I really hope it was a coincidence.
well it eems fishy yes. But neither ND nor FPC controls the HoF flows. Is it funny to watch yes but is it a conspiracy nah. I think Joe depoed and sold a lot to where the system think time for a big hof.
Aight, but when I see him crafting so many 109 amps at times, do you realy think he sticks to using his UL 104 amp? I am as much a fanatic miner he is albeit the female version, yet I know deep inside, that I shall never hit a jackpot like that or a UL amp dropping into my pretty lap.
There's no scam or conspiracy here. How much did he buy the dome for? At a purchase price of only $10,000 USD that tower is a 10% return. At $100,000 USD its a 1% return. Either way you look at it hes still in the hole for most of his money. The fact of the matter is this: Squall plays alot and has a very advanced character. A character that spends as much as he does through resource use and exploration ingame will at some point hit a very large strike. Its simply a numbers game. The large finds wont pay off the debt necessarily, but to an outside observer they seem like great gifts from the heavens. To say that hes getting a kickback because of one very large purchase just isnt logical. If it was his only purchase then perhaps something could be drawn from it. But this is failing to take into account all of his other purchases hes made over the years, all of his deposits, all of his activity. Yes it happened at this specific moment in time. But do we know why? How often does he mine? Where? How long todes a ATH take to build up on Rocktropia? Were there any other miners competing for it during this period, or was it just time? There's alot of questions. Its also failing to take into account the ratio of return vs expenditure, which frankly is not very good at all. Its like saying "Well.... an asteroid hit the Earth 65,000,000 years ago, therefore it can be said that we have deciphered natures design, and that design is all asteroids will eventually hit the Earth."
Don'tcha just love variables ... a bit of critical thinking like Magyar presented and other information given by Lykke and others, and ... the fact that Squall now owns more than one dome (therefore more personal expenditure), it makes better logical sense that it's not just some grand gift dropped by the powers that be in the Swedish Magic Kingdom at Gothenburg. I understand the conspiracy theory here, but for me? ... no deal. ;) *I choose case #9 please*
Each dome is being sold by ND for USD$25k, the loot is worth ~USD$11k, so it is actually a fairly large chunk of one dome. As for the loot itself the one thing that I am curious about is where was it drawn from - the activity levels on Rocktropia that I am seeing suggest that building up such a large loot in such a relatively short period of time would be difficult. - Deathifier
Point taken. I missed a digit somewhere. I thought the HOF was 11k PED not 110,000 PED. Thats quite a lot. Id agree RT isnt producing that kind of money, at least not in a single loot pool. But you know what? Worrying about what other people get only makes a person frustrated. Instead I prefer to focus on what me and my guild accomplishes. I suggest others do the same. Its healthier. :-)
i thought of that too Deathifier, for me further evidence that loot return is based at least in partial on a personnel loot pool. At the very least suggests a centralized loot distribution system or perhaps ND isnt taking his full share and is letting extra cash into Rock to help get the ball rolling
You gotto be kidding right? Which person in his right mind would waste 109s in that manner? if he does, he must be insanelly rich to do it. Knowing him, I know he wont waste mine in that manner. But what youre sayin is pure speculation and no way whatsoever to coroborate this MO as fact. But heres a little fact, neither Joe or Jon would post a reply here on this matter and thats just sad. I for one would want to know what finder, amps and enhancements were used and how many bombs were dropped before the swirleys appeared. But just out of curiosoty, how many bombs & probes can be dropped with a 109 amps before its rendered useless TT-food? Anyone?
Yes, I'm kidding. :p But in an extreme case that person involved were really rich, and economy would need boosting (assuming that lootpool is separate on separate planets, which is sensible), that would be the way to do it. Point being, even acting like that might be rational in some cases. But never mind that, I'm not that good in economics anyway :D And I don't really believe in conspiracy... put 50 unfortunate active hunters and as many miners in Rocktropia, each spending 500ped/day with decent 90% return, of which lost 10% half is taken to accumulating ATH (if it works at all like that, I don't know). That would make 2500peds/day, and the Peds needed for ATH would have been accumulated in only 44 days, no?
Well thats indeed the question. You aunty Lykke havent always been part of the virtual "elite", so the question arises, would your response have been the same back then as it is now? It is a known fact that by association the uber-pedillionaires come up for each other no matter what the acusations/speculations may be. Even without association ubers cover each others 6 on forums and in-game. Im not acusing you of anything at all aunty Lykke its just that its very clear you dont like the fact that i may have started this discussion. but allow me to point out that I may be missin the point and be wrong. So please dont be angry :) you do call everything speculation and thats fine yet no definive argument why that is so exept that you think its right that money defecates on money wheras some of us feel that its just not right at all. All I did by starting this thread was to point out something very obvious to anyone who dares to take note. When something so blatently obvious happens in the game, many gamers start losing hope of ever trully making it in the game, no matter how much is deposited and skilled to attain such goals.
No one knows the secrets of how the lootpool works. For example not so long ago a 1 day nub scored a ATH tower, which makes your original argument of individualized lootpools void. Then there the sudden drop in HOF sizes after FPC raids the lootpool, especially after a VU. Some have even theorized that loot-distributions is done by a FPC employee from a desktop. My grandpaw is a software specialist and even looked at the code from my Moms PCs and came to the conclusion that its not all quite as random as FPC would like us to think. Meaning its definitelly alocated and not random at all.
Well, Squall doesn't need me to defend him, however: The UL Amp he "owned" was a UL OA105 not a 104. It has since been sold. ;) As you mentioned, he crafts a huge pile of 109's. (And just about every other size amp....lol) Since he'll never sell them all, may as well use them I guess....:p If you were as much as a mining fanatic as Squall, then i'm guessing you mine upwards of 18 hours a day, seven days a week? Cause when he was working the 105, that was his normal day. ;) As far as hitting it on RT, been wondering that myself. I've been on RT for 3 weeks or more now, and I have to say, the returns are very consistently good. I've been wondering as well if ND is maybe not taking any real cut atm, and just letting it all go back into the pool. Either way, if there's a miner that ever deserved a big ath, it's most definetly Squall. He turns more ped in a week than most turn in 6 months or a year...lol Whether mining or crafting. :) I have been waiting for the conspiracy thread since he hit it.... GL ;)
First of all, I'm not your 'aunty' - never was, never will be. And second of all - I'm not a part of any elite. I don't know from were you got that idea? I chose to contribute to the game both by depositing a lot and by having a forum, but that doesn't mean I'm in some kind of a VIP club! I'm taking part just like a lot of other dedicated people. If you look through my posts and threads during the years you will notice that I have never ever felt any grudge towards anyone recieving more than I have in game. I'm sure we all contribute in our own ways - we choose to spend what we have in different ways too. If I was able to spend more, and more wisely, maybe I would get more too - but I know I'm gambling, so I don't expect anything. And I can asure you, I don't get anything either! But crying over my losses because others don't loose? Why on earth would I crawl down on that level? Envying, questioning and speculating in other peoples luck (or deserved pay-backs) in game, is really just not my style - no matter what 'position' I might have (or in this case, not have)!
I know u are not my aunty, neither was that actually meant in that context. Purelly respect and ofc you are older and more seasoned than me. (Making a mental note not to say that again). Would you have preffered me to call you Maam instead? I agree its a gamble and I also dont mind paying for my Gaming "fun". I have no grudge against Joe for being wealthy and recieving more than me, now thats just plain insulting. Also am I not crying cos others dont lose, just makes no sense at all. You may believe in luck, I absolutelly believe "Luck" has nothing to do with the whole matter at all. Tell me, do some of us trully have the right and freedom to be suspicious of the "dynamics" or NOT? You may think its correct and deserving that money craps on money, I dont. Twist the whole thread into me crying or bitchin about someones elses ath, isnt going to take away the fact that Joe bought 2 domes and immedietly hit a insane ATH on RT. Its based on logic apparentness and I am absolutelly not sore or unhappy bout it, just interested in everyone elses take on it. i can make up my own mind whether FPC is corrupt or NOT and/or wether theres a ongoing financial conspiracy or NOT. We already live in a unfair reality and its interesting also to see that same kind of phenommenon being part of virtual reality. To clearly point out to you, I can depo and play as I always have without a hope in hell to ATH/tower or ever becomming a peddilionaire, its just I like to play EU and pay for my own fun and socializing with fantastic peops especially in my Soc. I am not emotionally distraught about somethin showing up with a logical conclusion. For all I care may Joe enjoy the money and spend it as he wishes lol. But eeven if you dont, others like myself think its rather damn fishy :)
I don't think I ever said lootpools are individualized, just that I assume they are planetarized, that is, each planetary partner has its own. But I do not know that either, its just an assumption. What I BELIEVE is, the great ATHs are slowly accumulated with some method over period of time. Propably not like I presented, but the reason I gave that calculus was just to point that if there are enough individuals, from rather small percentage of their losses a rather big amount of peds could be collected, in surprisingly short time. In that example only 100 players would be needed, which is nothing.
