Shameless Theft at AH West

Since PAPD said that they would cooperate with EPMC press, I thought I would put this to the test and see if I could get some answers to nutrageti's questions presented earlier in this thread. Following is the information that was given to me:

• was the house open for visitors? ... Yes
• is the owner sure he didn't put the item up for sale? ... Yes, it is not up for sale!
• was the item inside the house or outside on additional owned land? ... Inside
• is the owner sure his account wasn't hacked? ... Yes, he's sure his account was not hacked.
• NO DETAILS about what house and what item? ... No details at present were revealed.

PAPD knows full well what house and what item is missing, along with other details that they are not releasing at this time. I'm guessing that it's a precautionary measure to insure the best possible outcome in capturing the criminal.

However, they were forthcoming in saying that despite having a top-notch law enforcement staff (according to them), they would still appreciate the help of the community. Therefore, I was told that they would be releasing one vital clue at a time to see what the community comes up with and if it will help to capture this criminal.

There was a subtle hint in their communication with me that they felt the perpetrator might engage in activities in various locations across Calypso, and may very well show his or her hand at some point or another. They offered no further information when asked, so I am taking this as an alert to be vigilant when interacting with strangers. Or ... is this really a stranger?

Well, we've been and had a butchers* at the ol' Museum and everything seems to be normal......

*Taps pipe on chin in thought*

HOWEVER!

Beyond a first glance, three things seemed to be out of place.

1. A display board near the stairs that was conspicuously empty. Other boards within the museum that have items missing, generally have 100 Mind Essence in place of a "yet to be placed" item. This board however was suspiciously devoid of either display item or Essence....;


2. Outside the main entrance on the wall near the tree sits a very suspicious looking Formicacida skull. Disgusting creatures, that are not resident in the surrounding area. However, this may well indeed be a hunting trophy belonging to the owner; and


3. An oddly placed Energetic Bunny on the side of the road.....Maybe dropped by the criminal on his or her getaway....

Interesting developments indeed Razer, and why I went back to the PAPD to make some more inquiries. In doing so, I was told by the PAPD that they can't confirm that something was stolen from the museum, or at least won't release that information if in fact it's true. They indicated that the investigation is still ongoing and that they plan to fully engage the community in the apprehension of this criminal.

My contact at PAPD did let slip however, that a series of tasks were going to be presented to Calypso residents that are supposed to help at least determine the theft location, but I also got wind that this criminal may have ties to the EUWBC boxing event. The EUWBC launch party was Saturday the 18th at Billy's at 18:00 for first round picks, but I didn't witness any suspicious behavior while broadcasting the event live on MSR.

I'll be broadcasting live again on the 25th and 26th when the boxing event actually gets underway, so I guess I better stay more focused in order to announce anything out of the ordinary (I totally get into this event ... it's exciting, and I can get carried away :D).

This guy or gal seems to be rather slippery, so it might be difficult to pinpoint anything overtly suspicious. I only hope that whatever these ties are to the boxing event, that it is not disruptive. Oleg does an incredible job as Master of this event, and any deception could potentially cause an issue.

I'll be back to report anything new, but in the meantime, I caution Calypso residents to be on the alert, and stay tuned for further announcements about how you can get involved to help capture this rogue bandit.

Port Atlantis Police Department - Press Release

The results are back from the forensics laboratory and investigations have progressed, but we cannot confirm that the item was stolen from the museum at Atlas Haven West. We are still looking for relevant information, and asking the community to please help with our efforts.

We want your help because we are low on manpower right now. This is due to our headquarters being relocated. However, we will make it worth your time and effort.
We will create tasks for the community that will be presented in this thread. The results of the tasks by anyone doing them should be posted in this thread as well. There will be rewards worth a total of 500 PEDs. The first task of a series of tasks will be offered most likely within a day, so please stay tuned to this thread.

The Port Atlantis Police Department appreciates that the community is willing to assist in our search for the Shameless Theft at AH West criminal who is still at large. Following are instructions for Task #1 that needs to be completed in order to verify our reports. Please read carefully, and then submit your findings in this thread accordingly.

Task # 1 - 100 PED in Rewards is being Offered

PAPD received reports that a suspicious person was seen frequenting a specific area of Amathera. The person in question was most likely using one of the buildings to hide in and use as a place of operation.

Our investigators have been able to limit the area in question to a rectangle, with coordinates of 34800/36500 as its northwest corner, and coordinates of 36500/35300 as its southeast corner.

Your task is to scout this area and find the building.

Then capture a photo of yourself and the building with the coordinates (“P”), and the time (“U”).

Since we need the results as soon as possible, the first person to post a screenshot meeting the requirements of the task will receive a reward of 50 PED.

As we need more than one screenshot to verify results, the second person to post their screenshot meeting the requirements of the task will receive a reward of 30 PED, and the third person to post will receive 20 PED.

We are quite confident that this task is not too challenging, and look forward to the results of your efforts.

PAPD Press Release - Additional Rewards

Good job on locating the building where the elusive thief may have been hiding out and planning his activities. It looks as though he may have moved on to a new location, but with the help of the community, we won’t be far behind. We still have investigators on this case evaluating new clues and insights.

The individuals who met the requirements of Task #1 in order to collect their rewards are:

• Oleg – who was first to report the suspected location and receives 50 PED

• BBpunisher – who was second and receives 30 PED

• EwoK – who third and receives 20 PED

Thank you for your efforts toward helping the PAPD to find and apprehend the thief.
Rewards will be handed out after the criminal is caught, because you still have more opportunity to build your rewards in the process of tracking this criminal down.

Help is still needed, and Task #2 will be posted within 24 hours. Those who solved the first task are still eligible to participate in the ongoing search and apprehension of this thief.

To show that we appreciate the help of the community, we will be adding additional rewards for your freelance detective work. Special rewards will be given to the 3 individuals making the most contributions.

Even though the rewards for the first task have been accounted for, it doesn’t mean that you still can’t post your photo and verification of the location of the building on Amathera according to the requirements and at least collect a contribution point. Then make sure that you engage in the rest of the tasks that will be posted in order to have an opportunity to collect any future rewards.

Here’s how you can earn contribution points:

• Every task solved will earn you 1 contribution

• The use of the Shameless Theft signature counts as 1 contribution

• 1 special reward will be given to one person making at least one contribution

Well how curious is THAT ... I guess I'm going to have to be on the lookout this weekend at the start of the EUWBC event for any suspicious activities. I wonder if PAPD will have someone on watch as well.

This definitely has me concerned now, especially since there was a hint that this slippery bandit might have ties to the EUWBC.
