So, now we have several more types of vehicles. What's your choice? A list of what we have so far: valkyrie mk1 -0.85 oil/km, 61.2 km/h valkyrie mk2 valkyrie mk3 saehrimir mk1- 0.95 oil/km, 46.8 km/h saehrimir mk2- 1.30 oil/km, 46.8 km/h saehrimir mk3 brunhilde (looks like a valk)-1.75 oil/km, 68.4 km/h jormungand mk1 (boat) - 0.85 oil/km, 55.8 km/h jormungand mk2 jormungand mk3 - 1.45 oil/km, 61.9 km/h sleipnir mk1 (flying craft) 1.10 oil/km/0.55 oil/min, 57.6 km/h sleipnir mk2- 1.45 oil/km/0.55 oil/min, 63 km/h sleipnir mk3- 1.80 oil/km/0.55 oil/min, 64.8 km/h hovercraft CC mk1 - 1.00 oil/km/ 0.10 oil/min, 46.8 km/h hovercraft cc mk2 hovercraft cc mk3 - 1.70 oil/km/0.10 oil/min, 51.5 km/h these are the vehicles I could find now at the auction house. My personal opinion is that the flying thing is slow but looks cool, the hovercraft is slow, looks nice but is useless really (more than the others I mean), the oil consumption for passive use while logical to exist is quite a deterrent really. I like the boats and I'll probably buy an mk1 when the curent madness ends and they cost ~60 ped :) what would you like/dislike?
They are all pretty cool. They all need to be considered for a speed boost. The current speed seems suitable for a boat or the low lvl valks but the better vehicles need to be faster. It's bizarre that a mk3 car is as fast as a mk3 aircraft!
My question is ... why couldn't they just call them Vehicle Mk1, Vehicle Mk2 ... Boat Mk1, Boat Mk2 ... Spacecraft Mk1, Spacecraft Mk2 ... Hovercraft Mk1, Hovercraft Mk2 ... instead of making up these weird-ass names that I don't think half the world can pronounce. :D *I'm in a mood today ... probably because I need sleep!*
the brunhilde is the buffed up version of the valkyrie. same description, same looks, just a huge tt of 30 ped and some armor that would equal shadow...
Don't forget that the flying thingy might be slow, but it can go everywhere in a straight line, without having to move around every little hill or avoid trees. And the hovercraft can go on water! But i guess i'll just aim to get the VTOL when the price falls to something i can afford, and rely on friends to take me out with their boats :D
just took a ride on a sleipnir and I can say it was damn fun. it moves quite slowly but you're right manny, moving in a straight line helps. It should go down in price if bp drop more cause the cost of crafting it isn't so high and from what I understood the bp for the mk1 is a level 1 bp
well, it makes sense that a scandinavian company would name things after scandinavian things, mythology in this case. As to why names and not just "car", "boat", "vtol" ... because what would then happen when plant partnrs finally get around to designing their own? If axes were just called axe, what about the new Rocktropian ones? At one point you need a name. Never mind that generics are just so utterly lame. I don't want to just have carbine I ... carbine XXI or rifle I to rifle XXIII ... items that allude to a back story are much better. Of course it would be best if the "Loughlin" weapons had a description other than just "crafted weapon", but its still better than generics.
I´d like a personal rocket backpack next so that i don´t have to use a tp chip everytime i need to go up a steep hill. Something like this! >
Wow I made it in to EP..... Phew! I have been tracking and compiling info on the new Vehicles. ...been a wanting this vehicle variety for a very long time. Here are some key points to help you purchase: The Valk Buggy Mk1 and the Boat Mk1 are THE most economical on fuel What you can do with a VTOL.. well I believe its going to completely change the perception and public view of the game. Only the Cars and Hovers are PvP capable Blowing up a Valkyrie Mk1 via a PvP Machine Gun cost 10 pec in decay and creates a wicked Special FX. The cost per attempt on making a Mk1 Car is 9.35 PED Mostly vehicle components The cost per attempt on making a Mk1 Hover is 3.33 PED Mostly Ores - Lyst and Melchi The cost per attempt on making a Mk1 Boat is 14.36 PED Still working out the VTOL but that will be higher again BUT CHECK IT OUT! Hovercraft will or should be cheaper than Cars (depending on the BP drop rate) But there have been plenty in just the last 16 hours. My guess is that the Hover and Cars get balanced according their PvP abilities and the fact that they will hypthetically be in more danger of decay they will therefore need to be more common and available. A Boat and a VTOL (no PvP) will have less chance of getting attacked by Mobs and for that reason they are a better long term investment of your planning to customize (color and/or texture) JUST hold off before you buy until your choice of vehicle matches a scale based on the cost to make one... The prices in the first few hours were insane!!!!
When there are many different types of boats, cars, VTOLS, you need to be able to distinguish the models. So, currently your idea would be perfect but later on it will be very strange and hard to use.
Oh my goodness ... you took me seriously! I was being silly Hon, probably due to sleep deprivation, but thank you for setting me straight. ;)
Woah just looked through my latest post and damn I sound serious. =( I was as well.. Which is a major facepalm.. I blame canada and the lack of health lately ;(
I'm pretty unimpressed with the speed difference, on the basis that for every 1 km/h lets remind ourself that every HOUR you'll travel 1000m further. So if you're doing basically 60km/h and you get 2 to 5, at higher end, you'll go 5/60 or 8% faster. So to get from a to b 8% faster will cost around 25% more. Not considering the other stats justify the excessive oil difference (difference, note I think the oil consumption is pretty good in itself) I intend on sticking with the Mk1. It does seem slow at first, the handling is awesomely well executed, the relative speed is far more important. I own(ed) a 4x4 and buggy, these are fun and have their place, but for the requirement of getting from A to Z, if C, D, E , F..... consist of mobs, impassible structures/land formations, sea/sand banks, etc. then everything sucks compared with flight. Clear a hill under thrust in a VTOL is quicker than climbing it in a car. Getting down is free (jump into 2nd seat and back to first seat just before hitting the ground so thrusters have enough time to break from descent (no this isn't an exploit, it's what real pilots call 'flying cold' - all electronics off) can't do that in a car. Their are just too many reasons why flying aces the other transport modalities over distance, being so high up, seeing the world, going in straight lines... And of course, you look really, really, really, really cool :D My only real niggle, is that I'd like to see more carrying load capacity, something like 300Kg; Considering this is supposed to be capable of towing aircraft, I'd think something more like 300Kg would be more suitable, with say a more restricted number of items, like say 10. This would have the benefit of allowing people to move large items. It's a real pain trying to move house, I've done it without a TP chip walking at 1km/h across the map!
