many of us realise that Planet Cyrene may be released in the coming weeks , but another setback for Next island According to sources inside Neverdie Studios (but dont quote me) Next Island will not be released on the 12th of October , so people hoping that David Post lives up to his "Around the 12th October" as mentioned in Entropia Times magazine recently has failed to release any press info. So those saying that 12th October it goes live - according to Neverdie Studios that aint gonna happen. along with its press release failures when the so called launch party was back in december 09, and back then expected live date was february , in turn next live date was March . then April (oh rocktropia launched - no next island) Then the expected live date according to a powerpoint presentation was September , and now we are at David Post's expected launch date of 12th October . and Mindark has just confirmed NO Next Island. This setback is yet another failure for Next Islands team , ill withdraw that comment if we have a release up to the 19th October. We are so eager to check out this new world But when - before christmas would be nice , not 2011 please ..... Planet Cyrene is now approaching the final stages before release. If neverdie studios have all workforces concentrating on Rocktropias development , which is indeed progressing slowly (still no missions), please let the playing group know so we dont get our hopes up after the Entropia Times Interview has failed to deliver... (again i withdraw comments if Next Island is released on the 19th October) - but personally i dont think its gonna happen
Neverdie Studios and Mindark Confirm - No Next Island launch around the 12th Octo For sure "11.3.6 and ROCKtropia content" won't be Next Island. Those setbacks might also be caused by featues of the platform that have been promised but not implemented yet (-> 'time travel'). On the other hand ND Studios are in charge of developing at least 2 planets (or 3? 4?). Sounds like a huge workload considering that whole FPC is 'just' developing one. And not sure how close Cyrene is but probably not that close. Ed? ;)
Neverdie Studios and Mindark Confirm - No Next Island launch around the 12th Octo Perhaps the Planet Partner should consider changing the name to "No Island". If they ever do launch, they may get some 007 fans who errantly make their way in. :)
Neverdie Studios and Mindark Confirm - No Next Island launch around the 12th Octo Doesn't really matter if they don't launch tomm. Yes, I was excited about it and looking forward to visiting a new planet but I also appreciate the fact David Post gave us an honest answer with a date attached to it. I wouldn't attack him for not living upto the date, all that does is cause developers not to give us further information on dates and such. In a game where everyone is soo secretive it really is refreshing to see someone step up and give us some proper dates even though those dates may not have come true.
Neverdie Studios and Mindark Confirm - No Next Island launch around the 12th Octo I agree with George. I do not doubt that David has the will to get it done, but I am thinking that there just might be unforseen circumstances. Personally, I would rather have them delay a wee bit more and get things right, than having the planet released in a rush to meet a deadline, and then having people quit early because it was released in a hurry.
Neverdie Studios and Mindark Confirm - No Next Island launch around the 12th Octo games industry is notorious for missing deadlines, and any ill remarks about it demonstrates exactly why MA have never given us any on anything.
Neverdie Studios and Mindark Confirm - No Next Island launch around the 12th Octo When I connected with David for the Entropia Times interview and asked the release date for Next Island, this was his exact response:"I would like to give you a real specific date but I can only estimate because there is so much to do. Our plan is for October 12 thereabouts - as we are creating a gateway for new users to play while Next Island is downloaded. We are launching an iPhone/iPad game in just a few weeks that is the prequel to Next Island called NEXT ISLAND - ORIGINS." We (EP Staff) began initial work organizing the magazine on the 3rd of August, and contact with David was made on August 8th. He received the interview questions on August 9th and returned the responses on August 10th, so ... he was quite efficient during this process, as well as with the communication thereafter that led up to the actual publishing of the magazine on September 12th. I'm giving this time-line to identify what "in a few weeks" would end up being based on David's above comment. During the time I interacted with David I got the impression from his communications that there was indeed a lot going on, and since there are two planets in-house at Neverdie Studios in development, it makes it even more of a challenge I suppose, although I don't know the size of the development staff. I find it interesting that one planet partner is utilizing the development studios of another, unless of course there's some sort of investment connection. I'm going to contact David to see if he would be willing to give some sort of statement that can be shared with the community. I'll be back to let you know what happens. EDIT: Communication sent to David Post and now waiting on a response. I asked if he would consider either giving me a statement that I can share with the community regarding the delay of the launch of Next Island, or ... invited him to come to EP and share his comments personally. He may not be a forum person, and I certainly want to respect that, but I'm hoping at least that he will share what he can to give us an update.
