NEXT ISLAND: ORIGINS - Win a Free Download

On October 27, 2010 - EntropiaPlanets provided an exclusive about the interactive prologue story that leads to the discovery of Next Island. This interactive prologue story is known as Next Island: Origins, a downloadable application created specifically for iPhone, iPhone Touch, and iPad.

Next Island has offered 10 free NIO application downloads (5 iPhone / 5 iPad) in the form of redemption codes, with the possibility of more codes being added. In order to win a free download, the rules of this forum event are quite simple:

• Post your full in-game name, along with your preference for either iPhone or iPad download
• Only one post per person is allowed
• Posts must be made by 23:59 game time on Wednesday, Dec 1st

PICKING THE WINNERS

• Winners will be determined by using the Contest Winner Draw Method
• This method is based on the EuroMillions Lottery numbers drawn each Friday night
• The winners will be announced based on numbers drawn on Friday, Dec 3rd
• Each participant in this forum event will be assigned a Draw Number (DN)

If you haven't already downloaded the NIO prologue story that leads to the discovery of Next Island, this is your chance to win a free download. The iPhone, iPhone Touch, and iPad technology is the most popular at present, and why it was chosen to introduce this back story.

However, the Next Island developers and marketing team are always open to feedback which may lead to other options, but there would need to be enough of a demand from the community in order for them to give consideration to it.

Not sure what the issue is Softy, but Peter is going to look into it.

It's the same type of table used in the first post of the Shameless Theft thread that Tass created, check that out and see if the table looks the same to you there as well. It could have something to do with with the forum stuff. If I start changing things again, then it might make it "not right" for others, so I'm going to leave it alone until Peter has a look.

Now ... more people need to be signing up for this event, and less chit chat.

 

Hey Kal ... not sure about staff entering the event, but ... since picking the winner is not a subjective process, and a process where winners are picked by a method where no one could cheat or manipulate the system, perhaps it can be a consideration?

What does everyone think?

I can tell you this much though - if we don't get at least 15 or more people registered, then this event won't happen. :(

 

I think the plan was to go with the most popular technology, but then ... when you look at how globally-diverse we are, it may not be the most widely used in all countries, nor something that everyone can afford to purchase either. I don't have any of the iTechnology myself, and while I could afford to get an iPhone, I can't justify the cost based on personal usage. Maybe everyone isn't into the "most popular technology" - I don't know - but ...

It would be nice for everyone to have an opportunity to experience the prologue story prior to the release of the beta version of the planet. The other reason why people may not be signing up to win a free download is because it's less than a buck, and no biggie to just download. I have a feeling that those who do have the iStuff technology, probably already downloaded the app.

I think the issue that one can run into with this type of approach to a gaming community is ... not everyone will be able to participate, and that kinda leaves people out with regard to the progression of the game. I can understand how the technology can facilitate a digital game in and of itself, separate from the actual game, but again ... not everyone is going to be able to participate.

Hopefully something else may happen to give everyone an opportunity to have this prologue story experience.

 

Thanks for that Spike, and I keep forgetting about the Android stuff ... probably because I'm not too familiar with it, and maybe I should be, because that might end up being the route I take. I'll have to check into it. :)

Ya, I think there are more than 15 people with iPhones for sure, but ... maybe those 15 or so people already downloaded the app and don't need another one ... guess we'll see how well this goes, and maybe if not so good, then perhaps our NI developers might come up with something else to get us excited about ... other than the beta launch coming up ... can't wait for that. :)
