  1. It was just an easy way for an fast sum of the case.

What I mean is that if u got raped, wouldn't it be great if your case was taken to court? Regardles who the prosecuted was. And then Assange using the publicity round this as adverticing for his website, IMO, just rude.

  2. His name shouldn't have been stated, these things require privacy, something he was never allowed to have.
    Think about it.

If I would go to trial on a rape case and let's say I'm accused of rape, it sends alot of signals to my friends, co-workers, me employer etc etc and eventhough the charge is cleared and I'm proven to be innocent, the damage is allready done.
I've lost credability from friends and other people in my close vicinity.

All because I was falsely accused.

Julian Assange was never given the chance to enjoy this privacy that we Swedes are guaranteed by law and you call him the rude one?

  3. Someone LEAKED the initial hearing protocol to the press(Jan Helin at Aftonbladet), the press decided to publish his name, probably since he was a PUBLIC person. More or less the same thing Wikileaks do with all other leaks. I don't see a big problem here.

There are lots of examples where prosecuted rapers names been published by the press, this is not an unique case. I agree with you that it's not OK to publish peoples names before the case is closed. But still, this has nothing to do with Wikileaks, this is something regarding Julian Assange as a person. I understand why new services like Openleakes is on its way. The real message from Wikileaks comes in second place behind Assanges person and most of the starters of Wikileaks dislike this and several has decided to quit, not cause of countries threatening them but beacuse how Assange is leading Wikileaks and playing rock star.

I think I stop here, as in so many discussions, people in different corners has there mind allready set and the discussion doesn't lead anywhere, and as I stated in my first post here, I don't think this discussion belongs in a game forum, even though I was enlighten that it was in the off-topic section.

    Sionkiewicz One of those Americans

Wiki Leaks isn't posting anything unknown and the ones outraged at the tactics used during war are just naive. I'm personally ignoring the whole thing and think it's a waste of time to follow it. If he doinked those girls then he'll go to jail for that otherwise, he should walk back into those dark corners where few fear to tread.. with a flack jacket on..

I like transparency. I hate secrets and lies which is quite a bit of what this guy has revealed. And governments of course don`t like to be made to look bad. I also think a lot of his publicity attention is a small form of protection just in case he goes mysteriously missing, drives off a cliff or turned up dead of an apparent heart attack. Enough people want to assassinate him already. Too bad there are`nt more people especially here in the US who are willing to stick their neck out to reveal how we are regularly screwed by government and big corporations. Then again there never seems to be enough people that actually care enough to do something about it once they have the information. They are too cozy on their couch watching tv, eating corn syrup and posting to Facebook on their Iphones.

  6. Sadly your posting kinda implies that you condone those killings of civilians or you voluntarily choose to turn a blind eye to it. It does seem to be a common attitude amongst americans from what I could see... That is very unfortunate. I have been appaled by some of the TV shows aired there and how news aren't really news but more a compilation of instructions on how to think about a certain topic. Fox News is one of the worst as an example. So probably all that brainwashing made through your mainstream media is causing this dead sheep type of attitude.
As for those who say that wikileaks have not released important documents that have had a positive impact please watch this short video on TED talks with Julian Asange himself about how wikileaks changed the 2008 kenyan election by exposing corruption:

I agree with Narfi and a few others. This discussion does not belong here. We tried to see how it would evolve - but the community did vote the possitility of having discussions about politics and religion down once, and we will respect that.

We are a bunch of individuals with different opinions - and these kind of discussions always end up becoming personal fights. I therefore close this thread, and will ask you kindly not to start political discussions of these kinds again.

    Thank you.
