Other planets but with same resources?
    What you think about it?

That is a question you could ask in our question-threads to the planetpartner interviews ;)

I do believe it would be cool if there will be some diffeerent ressources on the planets - which will make sure to add traffic more.

Say you need to go to calypso for Iron - but on x planet there is a mob that drops x material or you can mine a brand new x material you NEED in case you wish to craft a new x weapon.

If they really are clever enough this could be a way to ensure that the planets will all have customers enough ...

Now that would be a great idea. It would also promote stuff like interplanetary trade and perhaps an interplanetary auction system.

  4. Hiya, I agree that this is a pretty elementary concept however....

based on what I have been told, planet-hopping is waaaaaaaayyyyyyy down the road. :) Right now, it is more like the scenario of "transferring" your avatar to another server (planet).

In practice though, if the economy could be made with a "one game" "one universe" mentality, you will end up with a very strong game and community. Players would be encouraged to go from one planet to another to find things they need. That may be accomplished by simply all the planet partner leaders meeting for some planning and and brainstorming with Mindark.

Right now, it is a unique play-base per/planet that Mindark is looking for (at least, last I was told). :)

    Best,

    :)

    Hi Alan,

That seems to contradict the idea that NEVERDIE voiced, that we should not be starting all over whenever we travel to a different planet.

Somehow I'd also have some real trouble imaginging MA would set themselves up for a mistake like that. There's hundreds of posts to be found where people complain about the lack of entertainment offered by FPC/MA at Calypso at the moment, meaning that all it would take would be a single partner to offer more entertainment-per-buck than the others, and poof, FPC (or other planet partners forced to adopt MA's current high-roller casino model, for that matter) would be out of business.

  6. Actually not. We will not start over. Your avatar ports to another planet and stays there for awhile. All the monies you use or generate on that planet is what drives that planet's economy. Like I said though, it's kind of like a "character transfer service" and goes through processing with Mindark. It is not like just jumping into a ship and going to another planet.

Yup, you are right about the entertainment value. As we talked about on the Talk Tyme show, the planets that will succeed will need to be very creative and offer excitement, content and immersion. Indeed, they will have to work very hard to keep the settlers (like in our storyline's case) / players that they bring onto their planet.

Believe me, if a player hops away, there will be everything to lose when they do so. The only winner in the case of a constantly hopping player is Mindark. The planet that brings in the new player (not existing ones; those are owned by Mindark and Planet Calypso) will always get a cut of the revenue generated by that player no matter where they go. This is why marketing for new players is so important for the new planet franchise. I hope that makes sense. If I confused you, let me know.

    Best,

    A :)

  7. If it is like you are saying Flapman then the business model is kind of like a modified Pyramid Scheme.

I am gonna do a scenario and feel free to comment on it.

That does seem abit odd and I am not entirely sure its legal 100%

  9. This just sucks man! I mean it will contribute to the realism of it all if you can planet hop via taxi. Besides Pilots also support the economy. In this case it should be a Galactic economy and not simply planet based. Virtual Tourism is another big thing to hit the verse I think. For the people I would rather see more freedom in the Verse, ye freedom of movement is one important aspect. it would be wize that certain planets can share the use of in-game items and to accomodate that. So a trader who has wares to sell, can make good profit on a planet very far away.

For example, Mike Fryer Perry wants to franchise and expand his fashion empire. Why restrict him in that. Players want to dress well no matter which planet they are on.

  10. The more commonly named items like gold/iron I'm sure will be used on many planets, but the more "Calypso native" items like Gazzurdite, may not find many uses.

  11. Well, I would say it would be odd if we could just fly to a planet based on rock or some paradise Island and fit it into the "help,we are invaded by robots" storyline. I would prefer if the stories and goals for the different planets werent so far away from the initial storyline.

The part about planet transfer via MindArk and paying a fee for it is very similar to what I been saying all along but got attacked by hangar owners insisted they would be the ones flying and that a hangar is still a good investment:lolup:

excatly. I very much like the idea of interplanetry trade but it can never fit with all planets. I also can not imagine how it would look if I show up in ful armor holding guns on let's say a pink barbie themed planet (I can actually see it before me now). I mean skills might transfer but I'm not sure how rifle skills are going to help me on that pink planet. However on that pink planet you might dig up the most wanted "purple fluffy stuff" needed to build the adjust modified ultimate fap on calypso. Who knows:dancinggirls:
