We are pleased to offer you the third issue of EntropiaTimes magazine – EntropiaPlanets.com’s free online magazine (also available as a printed copy by order only, and for a limited time for each issue).

The first issue of the magazine was published in September 2011 – and became, to our surprise, a much larger success than we thought it would be - not only as an online magazine but definitely also as a printed copy. With the release of the December issue we saw, that there was a growing demand and interest, both for the online as well as the printed version of the magazine.

This March issue is on 68 colorful pages, which takes us on an exciting journey to the not yet discovered Planet Arkadia, with new exclusive interviews, pictures, info and stories.

To find the magazine, go directly here: EntropiaTimes - were you can also find the earlier issues.

    ---------------------------------------

    The magazine brings you:
    • Exciting news and updates
    • Contests
    • Planet Partner interviews, made exclusively for and together with EP for the EntropiaTimes
    • Interviews with Players and Societies
    • Interviews with investors and MindArk
    • Articles about the game and new interesting features

Having a printed copy gives you an opportunity to show friends and family what all this Entropia Universe business is about.

    ---------------------------------------

    Interactive magazine
The EntropiaTimes is created in an interactive way. Meaning, that it contains links to wiki pages and websites. This is the case for regular info links, but also for the advertisements within the magazine. If you hover over a link, your cursor will change to a little hand, and if you click, the link will open up a new browser window. This gives us an even better opportunity to provide you with background information.

    ---------------------------------------

    EntropiaTimes Forum
An EntropiaTimes forum was created for discussion of the magazine. This will also be where we will add a link to each edition of the magazine to make it easier for you to find them. The forum mentioned can also be accessed directly by browsing to www.entropiatimes.com.

There are two versions of the magazine. One is an interactive version where you can navigate between the pages by using the little arrows under the pages, and the other is a regular PDF version. Be aware, that it might take a few minutes to download the files

    ---------------------------------------

Did you order your printed copy?
If you find that you really like the magazine, and would like to receive a printed copy as well, you can still order but ONLY until:

Monday, the 14th of March 2011.

After this date the magazines will be printed in the ordered amount, and we will not reprint the magazine. This goes for all former issues.

To order, please pay $18 USD through PayPal to admin@entropiaplanets.com – including your avatar name, a specification what you're buying (Magazine, March 2011) and your real name and shipping address.

    ---------------------------------------

    March Contest
Do not miss out on the contest in this issue of EntropiaTimes. You will find it on page 6, and will be able to win an exclusive spot in the next issue of EntropiaTimes - which will be published June 2011, and themed Planet Cyrene.

    ---------------------------------------

Forum Theme and Conquest System (Forum Community Game)
We changed a few things on the forum to mirror the theme of the magazine, which is Planet Arkadia. As always the theme of the forum will stay up for a month, and then change back to normal.

Another change is the Conquest system, which will again contain mobs from the actual planet, Arkadia. As a part of this, the Conquest system has been reset, and will feature actual mobs from Planet Arkadia. Don't miss out on the opportunity to fight against other forum members.

    ---------------------------------------

We at EntropiaPlanets.com wish you all a happy reading and a wonderful Spring :)

    How to read the magazine:
    ---------------------------------------

    The Interactive PDF File Procedure:
    • Open the file - it will open up in your browser, and might take a few minutes to load.
    • You will see the file as a real magazine, with the front page first - and you can turn pages by using the arrows shown under the magazine. Scroll up and down if the page is too large by using the wheel on the mouse.
    • It is possible to zoom in and out by right clicking on the pages and chosing that setting.
    • Be aware that the interactive file setting is not a 100% sized file, because that would be too big for some screen settings. Use the zoom in and out function - though it is not working perfectly yet.
    The normal PDF file procedure:
    • Open up the file
    • In the PDF program head menu choose View -> Page Display -> Two-Up
    • Also choose -> Show cover page during Two-Up
    • This will show you the magazine as a real magazine too.
    • This file is better, when you wish to view the magazine by using zoom

  7. MindStar9

    MindStar9 Floating in Space

Thank you from me too AG ... your support of the magazine at your website is appreciated. :)

And thank you to the E-Team in this labor of love for the 3rd go-round, it's always a fun thing.

Thank you BIG time to the Arkadia A-Team for making this production an absolute pleasure. You guys are a class-act, and consummate professionals. We appreciate the content you afforded us in order to focus on Arkadia. I just can't say enough about you guys. :)

I want to give a very special  to my VBFF and marathon partner in our magazine productions. When it gets close to the publication date, we're like siamese twins connected at the keyboard. If we're not on email or at the forum, we're on Skype or maybe at times texting if we need to, but the bottom line is ... we go the distance until the magazine is published. We then have our exhale moment on Skype and relax, usually with breakfast (Beer not included - that's Peter's fault though). :)

People see the finished product, but the behind-the-scenes is definitely a 3 month process, and not without its challenges. However, we always seem to come together in the 11th hour to accomplish our goal. Lykke has the most involved job of all of us, and she does it superbly. I have such a comfort level with her, knowing that whatever I throw her way, she's going to work her magic and make it special. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this Lykke, because it absolutely makes my job easier in the overall scheme of things, so thank you.

Oh, and ... thanks to safara for such a cool mutated whatever that was in the Beauty and the Beast article.

December 2010's edition was great - really liked the J.N.J interview, so I know March 2011 will be even better :)
    --- mini edit ---

Just read the interactive version with flash player. This is really good! It's almost like turning real pages... Imagine if you could put links on it like in a web page

  13. Very high quality magazine as always!

Well done to the E-Team here at EP and thank you to everyone who contributed - it takes a massive amount of effort to produce something of this quality whilst meeting your target release date and dealing with the spanners that the real world likes to throw into the system :)

Lykke TheNun In Loot We Trust

Thank you David :) And thanks for being a part of it with an awesome interview!

Also thank you to the rest of you. it DOES take a lot of time (actually we start every third month right after a magazine is released, preparing the next one lol)

If anyone is curious, here's very roughly how it works:

    • when we know the theme of the magazine we start preparing, create a task list in the staff room and come up with ideas for articles and interview, and who's interested in doing what
    • we then ask people/PPs for interviews, create the questions, send them to the people, we are interviewing
    • often we run around in game to take awesome pictures or to interview players
    • we get the interviews back (often weeks after) and from that we create the stories, interviews, articles. There is a lot of rewriting to make them perfect.
    • Whenever a text is done, MindStar9 proof reads it with her eagle eye :D ...
    • ... and I can afterwards put it into the graphic content.
    • ... often I have to put in a half finished text for the sake of layouts, before I get the actual text, because a text can change a lot during the process.
    • I go on a research for awesome looking pictures, which fits. We get some from PP, but most of them I have to take myself in game or find in my archives.
    • Last, but sertainly not least, MindStar9 and I have a marathon proof reading the whole magazine. Often the PDF file flies forth and back 4-5 times or even more, before we find it perfect enough for release. It happens the very last evening before the date for publishing, and there's a lot of stress on. At the same time, I prepare the forum with new header, the front page story for Ep and the other forums etc. It might be stressful, but MindStar and I work extremely well together and afterwards it feels SO good (THANKS MINDSTAR)
    • On the actual day of release it feels like xmas - everything will be prepared, the interactive file will be made with the arrows (THANK YOU RAZER for teaching me that), the PDF etc. will be uploaded on the server, the conquest mobs and header will be in place - I would have made all the threads ready on all forums - inclusing the banner - Peter helps me getting everything techical in place (putting in the files in the forum links) and he also writes the online mail newsletter ...
    • ... then we press the button and hope for the best lol
After this and after the deadline for ordering, I send the PDF to the printer guy with the order. It takes a couple of days and I pick up the printed copy of the magazine (weee xmas again). Then I write letters and envelopes and send all the ordered magazines to people, all around the world.

So you see, it is all a matter of great team work to get it to work as well as it does, and I am impressed about the E-Team and the entusiasm and energy they have in their work for the community. Remember all of us have full time jobs next to our passion (EU), and family's etc. Some evenings, when you come home from work, had diner, prepared kid for bed etc. and also have been working 4-5 hours in front of the PC, it does feel like having 2 jobs lol But it's worth it.

I value a deadline very much and might be 'whipping' the staff (and others 'looks at Cyrus'), but they know I love them :D

A huuuuge thank you and applaud to the E-team for being such fantastic people

    MindStar9 Floating in Space

That pretty much wraps it up in a nutshell ... it's a collective labor of love, not without its challenges because of schedules (including PP's and those we interview), but we manage to pull it off every 3 months. I have to laugh now, because in the beginning when Lykke came to me with the idea of the magazine, I said ... hey, why don't we do this every month. In hindsight, I can tell you I was totally out my damn mind saying something like that, especially after realizing how much work it takes to produce one of these issues.

The variables are many, but they eventually all gel, and we are very pleased that we can bring a product like this to the community. I am going to get as much rest as possible now, because I just know at any moment our fearless leader will be posting the new schedule for the June issue that will be focusing on Cyrene. Ed Robles is standing ready to get into the trenches with us, so I'm sure we'll be bringing you yet another exciting, interesting, and revealing issue.

Don't tell the boss this, but I'm actually ready to get started, and I will be the one doing the society profile with Sanctuary (along with a couple of other things). What a crazy but fun bunch ... I've been spending a little time with them on TeamSpeak ... this is going to be an interesting process. :) Be catchin' up with you guys soon.

Oh, and ... thank you Deathifier for taking the time to provide us with a very informative interview. I'm sure it helped to answer some questions that the community might have had.

And well ... I just can't say enough about the A-Team ... those guys are just simply amazing to work with, but then, look at their track record so far and how much they have embraced the community ... and all before the planet has even arrived.

    I just can't wait. [IMG]

RAZER found this awesome free tool, where we can upload the magazine, so you can watch it as a 'real' magazine, scroll, zoom in and out and turn pages (like our dynamic version, but faster and better).

Tell me what you think and if it's worth investing in ^^
