PRESENTING Photo by: Chrome / Graphics assist by: Lykke On Sunday, May 22nd, the Arkadia Pre-Launch Party was held at Athena Spaceport at 18:00 in-game time. The party was hosted by Mono “Chrome” Monochrome, and was broadcast live on MindStar Radio. Chrome arrived at the party location early to set the mood with some incredibly creative decorating. Mindforce was used, and as nightfall would be upon us at the start of the party, the effects were simply amazing. There were also two dragon heads that flanked the entrance to the covered platform, but you’ll be able to see Chrome’s creative decorating in the photos that follow, and especially in the video that has been included. At the stroke of party time, Entropians began to arrive, and it wasn’t long before we had a nice group dancing and chatting, and of course, sharing their comedic talents for everyone’s entertainment. The fashion of the evening was eclectic to say the least. Some came in their armor, some came in their finest threads, some came looking sporty, and a few came almost in something. Even the EP Media Center’s Manager showed up! As the party goers continued their dancing, chatting and laugh-a-thon, I began announcing the names of those in attendance on-air. As new people joined the party, I would catch their names and shout out a greeting. When the pace picked up and more and more people were arriving, it became a bit of a challenge, and I was hoping that I didn’t miss anyone, but there may have been one or two, even a few since our small group had grown to a nice crowd size. The music was a mixture of rock, electronic/dance, and alternative to keep the beat at some semblance of an adrenaline pump. Some took the time to post their favorite tracks in a thread I created at the Arkadia forum prior to the party, which is something I like to offer to patrons attending a live broadcast of an event. As the evening progressed, more decorations started showing up on the floor of the platform. You really had to be there to appreciate all of the work that went into decorating the path to the platform, as well as the platform itself. Chrome did an amazing job. However, there were a couple of people who had a different idea of what the platform needed in the way of decoration. I won’t mention their names (Ash and RAZER), but a Chopper and a VTOL miraculously flew under the cover of the dome and onto the platform. Ash RAZER As I made my way around the platform just marveling at how many friends, familiar faces, and new people showed up, I noticed something rather interesting. Perched atop the laser fence around the platform we had our own shadow dancer. Stave Petty The celebration of the coming of Arkadia went on for hours, but I think the highlight of the evening had to be a very special gift that the CEO of Arkadia (Dave Dobson) gave me to present to those in attendance. I was able to premiere 6 Arkadia music tracks to give the party goers a sense of what the musical flavor would be while exploring the planet. It was very well received with a collective thank you to Dave for his generosity in sharing. I actually played the tracks twice during the evening so that those who showed up after the original preview were able to hear them. At the end of the night, our Host Supreme caught a reflective moment during sunset with what I’m sure was a well-deserved exhale. A lot of work went into the preparations for the party, not to mention the exceptional decorating that was done. Thank you Chrome – your efforts are deeply appreciated. Photo by: Chrome During the party, I was able to capture some footage that allowed me to put together a video. It presents a more visual offering of the amount of decorating that was done prior to the party, but also additional decorating that occurred while the party was in full force. Past experience has taught me to be ready for anything, and this party was no exception. I am always in media mode, and hope that I am quick enough to capture the animated activities that leave thought-prints in our memories. At the beginning of production on the video, I had my Skype open, and Dave happened to be online. I thought I would ask if it were possible to use the 6 Arkadia music tracks in the video since it would make it more authentic. I had my fingers crossed while I awaited his reply. And there it was – YES! And now those who were not present at the party will have an opportunity to listen to all 6 tracks in their entirety on the video. My videos are rather simple in nature, but I believe I have a bit of a talent for sync’ing music with video footage, and what I’ve done is arrange the tracks in a specific order to suit the content of the video. I've also half-timed certain segments of the video to be more in line with the music. And speaking of the content of the video, there’s not too much variation that you can get when a party remains stationary, other than the spontaneous activities that take place that change it up a bit. However, throughout the video, pay close attention to the little things that may pop out at you, and if you were in attendance, then you may very well see yourself. It is my pleasure to present to you the Arkadia Pre-Launch Party video, along with the 6 Arkadia music tracks that were premiered during the event. ENJOY! >
Awesome story and awesome party !! Very well done MindStar for the cover up on a great evening :dance:And thank you Chrome too for arranging such a great event! Thanks to Dave for sharing some AWESOME music from Arkadia. I can't wait stepping my feet there and go on adventures! I have been missing that feeling for years! :pac:
This is where reading the article and looking at the content is of help. It doesn't make sense asking questions if you don't take the time to read what you're asking a question about.
Ok.. Cant find the "Quote" button.. So.. I guess at the Arkadia party.. there were.. no one from Arkadia..
If you're asking if any Arkadia Studios staff was there, then no. And the quote button is actually the word "Reply" down in the right corner.
Arkadia isn't live yet. It will be live on 5/24/2011. It is kind of hard to understand your questions.
Not sure what your point is. for your information the 'quote' botton is the 'reply' botton. About the arkadia staff ... Ozi's avatar retired, so no, he wasn't there personally - but if you cared reading the thread you would have seen, that MindStar was having a convo with him on Skype at that time and was allowed to share the Arkadian music with us directly from her MindStar Radio show. Also, the Arkadia Launch Party was made for the players looking forward for the planet to launch and made by players as a cadeau to the Arkadian Team.
I must say it was the best party I went to in a long time and it was great to see all the Arkadia Colonists there. Hope to run in to all of you guys soon on the Planet ! oh and MS9, a nice article as usual ;)
Absolutly genius MS9 ;) was a great party, a awesome video and and a real good article about :) thx a lot for a great work :)
Not all of us were there. :( Stupid work calling me in with an emergency. I was really looking forward to the party with the people and the music. Still, thank you Chrome for planning. Thank you MS9 for covering it.
Wow MS9, great vid! Really enjoyed the synching and the text at the end - it's great to have comprehensive footage of the event on the records!
Likewise. I was working on getting some more forum work done, but could follow things by peeking over Lykke's shoulder and listening to MSR from her machine.
To RAZER ... it was really nice to see you at the party Hon, and the way you were flying your VTOL around the tower and then eventually getting through and landing it on the platform was fun. Guess maybe you wanted to show Ash that yours was bigger, eh? :p I too was surprised to see so many familiar faces at the party, and people I haven't seen in a long time. It was like old home week for me, and I became a bit emotional about it because our community is everything as far as I'm concerned. There were also some new faces too, and I always like meeting new Entropians. Glad you had fun. :) To Melena ... thank you very much for your comments, they are appreciated. I truly enjoy myself when I'm writing the stories of Entropia and creating videos of people enjoying themselves. I've been doing this now for years, and I never tire of it. I haven't been as active for a while, but I'm kickin' it into high gear, and I attribute that to Arkadia and Cyrene. To Calin ... definitely missed you not being at the party, but I know how RL can interfere at times, and perfectly understandable. There will be plenty more parties and events that you can attend in the future, I'm sure of it, so there's still opportunity to get nuts with us once in a while. :) To Nova ... you could be right about there being another Arkadia party, you'll just have to hang tight and see what hapens. :D To Tim ... well hello my friend, and glad you enjoyed the video. It was funny when you popped in on me on Skype and said that I signed on right when you started watching the video. I love sync'ing music and video, I think it adds a cool effect to the experience. And ya, that mindforce was awesome ... I've seen it a few times before. That's a group heal I believe, and I have no clue who was doing it, but it seemed to have been generating from where I was standing in the middle of the circle, so not sure how that worked. Prior to one of those explosions, there was other mindforce going on at the Southwest corner of the video screen that was in sync with the music too, just before the group heal happened. There are a few little sync spots like that throughout the video if you're tuned in to the detail and the music. Like I mentioned, it was a challenge getting a variance in the video footage because of being so stationary, so the fact that there was other activity going on made it a little better to change it up a bit. Besides, I think the video was more to listen to the music since it was just premiered at the party. With regard to comprehensive records of events and activities in EU, I've always been about that with my activities, and why I've done the picture storytelling since the Summer of 2005. I have progressively expanded how I record things, be it storytelling, news reporting, front page articles, player profiles, in-game radio events, and now the magazine. I love to see our community involved, which is why I'm kicking it up even more and developing my MindStar Media presence on a few planets ... you'll be seeing it expand even more. I am definitely attached at the hip with the EP Media Center and the E-Team though, and my work there is basically focused on front page articles and the magazine, with the occasional EP-sponsored in-game event that is connected to MindStar Radio for live coverage. MSM is more related to MS9's personal relationship with planets, rather than the professional work I do with EPMC. It's all good though, because I'm right in my element and what I love doing the most ... showcasing our universe in a fun and entertaining way. To Admin (Peter) ... during the party I was connected with you, Lykke, Dave, and others on Skype, and I knew you were all listening in. I also know that you guys have been hard at work sorting out the new forum environment, so it was a total surprise when Lykke showed up at the party. Was able to give her a shameless plug in the video. :D And since you were plugged into MSR, I thought I would throw one of your favorite songs into the queue (Walking on the Sun by Smash Mouth - I love that one too). Lykke said you were dancing around, or singing, or both, it's all good ... I'm surprised you didn't drag out your guitar and have at it too. :p Thanks everyone for the comments, I'm glad that you enjoy my contributions. There will be plenty more in the future, so stay tuned. :)
woot! I even appear on the vid! XD Ty Chrome and MS9 for organizing parties, looking forward to the next one! :)) .LeZ. edit: "Now let's kick some Oratan ASS!" :stomp: Bring'em!
Looks like it was a lot of fun. Shame I couldn't be there but i was trying to catch ZZZzzzzz's at the time. Hopefully I'll make it to the next party whenever and where-ever it is. Great job on the coverage though :D
I feel like I will cry with joy. It looks like a group of people standing around dancing. We know it is so much more then that. I hope I can grasp what work and money you have all put into it. Entropia is alive and healthy and growing. Good work to everyone. Thank you for all you do.
