Theryon Wars: Eye Candy nr.2 (Image Intensive Thread)

  1. Hi all!

Today I'm bringing you the biggest entry in the Eye Candy series, at least for quite a while.

Bigger, slower and packing more punch than the ship you've already seen, you could conceive this 'not-so little beast' as an anti-mothership bomber. The twin cannons near her nose are shorter than those of the Interceptor, intended for shorter-range and slightly faster RoF (Rate of Fire). Atop of this ship there's an special hardpoint, for yet-to-be-seen attached equipment. In this configuration, it's unused.

Again, as a disclaimer, these are concept pictures and concept 3D models, not yet in-game.

    Hope you like'em!

The side foils at both sides, near her belly, double as stabilizers and as armor plates; we came up with some sort of canard configuration, trading the tailplane for a polyhedral vertical surface which... Oh, maybe those details are boring for you...

Here you have her in action... Well, fulfilling her intended role: kicking some bigger ships right where they hurt. You can also notice the retracted landing gear.
The two-door belly compartment is not yet final, even for a concept.

Now some shots of the concept 3D model.

I hope you'll like these pics and will be looking forward to your comments!

    I mean, please, don't be shy ;)

    * Places MS9 into deep freeze :cold: with an auto-timer to unfreeze (via setting her hair on fire) in 2012 :hot:

  8. Nor Alien

Woot thank you for the posts and the pics!! :) I would also like to be on the preorder list!! :D

And more info on the stabilizers would be nice as well ;)

  9. Not sure if you can reveal anything here but will the two factions have different syles in terms of ships (and uniforms!)?
The current ships you have shown are nice but don't appeal personally, they are very metal gear Rex, I'm more of a metal gear Ray kind of guy :p

    .

Oh geez ... who's gonna do my magazine work then, huh?

Funny thing, I lived in the cold for a long-ass time, and now I've lived in the hot for a long-ass time!

I run hot and cold in this universe! :p

  11. HEHE I thought you would like that :giggle:

The magazine work, well um ok ... I didn't think that far ahead !

  12. Not a good thing to do, she might end up with an alien in her stomach!! :alien:

Ship looks nice buy a bit bulky in the front... I´d like it more pointy like X-Wing but not as long.. Looks a bit more speedy that way.

  13. Lerp

    Lerp blind combantant

I would play with the plastic model. Just sit on my bed an varummm i would fly it around in circles and chase the plastic mother ship. Oh yea baby, bring it on. It looks like fun.

  15. Ok, reply round... Fight!

Just in case, mates: I'm taking those comments into account.
We hafta be fair with all players and listen to you.
More news on that when they become available.

Welcome, welcome... I'll ask Viperstrike to unfreeze you as soon as we are there.

Didn't your mother tell you not to use your mind-reading powers on strangers?!
Oh, well, better aim next time: You're yet to see the Viper <Strike Craft> Class.
Then, you'll possibly hate me

    Short answer: Yes.
Longer answer: We have planned a (relatively) low unlimited/(L) ratio but we'll have to discuss it in full with MA. They are the Keepers of Balance, you know. I'd also like to remind some of the answers from the interview, because we've planned more than a couple of sizes/classes of ships.
    Longest answer: Oh, c'mon...

Hey, Nor Alien! Remember when you asked for a two-seater? This ship is a two seater.
Just in case, regarding the Interceptor... I guess most people 'round here might have heard of the F-16. Multi-role, single-seat. But then there's a trainer version and, more interesting to me, the F-16D used at Dryden (NASA) for the ACAT. I mean, we could add special versions of our 'default ships', with either advanced, experimental or specialized technology or configurations... later on.
Oh, I've been advised not to talk 'too technical' (stabilizers and such) for your own safety.
Mates have told me I become excited and too talkative about that kind of stuff, to the point of making people's heads go boom. And I like you all better than that...

The two main opposing factions have indeed different looks, styles, uniforms... and philosophies, and approaches to 'waging war'. This Eye Candy series is showing you bits of one of these two factions, the one some people have called 'industrial-looking'. The other faction has rounder shapes, so the Rex/Ray comparison is pretty accurate. I can't guarantee you'll love the basic color schemes but hopefully you'll find an alternate scheme to your liking, not to mention custom (C).

She is bulky, and slower than the 'ceptor. How about that pointy nose?

Dear Lerp... If I get enough time from task to task there's a lil experiment I'd like to make myself:
Making papercraft models of several of our ships.
I know they'll be complex and hard to build, but once I print a buildable sheet there's no need to keep it for myself, right? When one of your hobbies meets your job, there's one thing you need to get things done: Time.
And time is often something I don't have in store...

    You too :p

Whoa! It's taken me quite a while, but I've replied! I have!
    Did I miss something?

hehe but you wouldn't harm us pacifists now would u :)

Well I can tell you what MA are likely to say ;) They will say something along the lines of new players brought into the game i.e. every x number of players you bring into the game equals y number of unlimited goodies. x could be 1k 10k etc depending on the item and rarity they are after.

Say for example for the current playerbase they are allowed 70 hangars. If Theryon is to double the playerbase then 140 total hangars may be allowed hence the hangar to player base ratio would stay constant.Which would mean 70 new hangars for Theryon :yippeee:

Thanks for answering everyone's q's. It is very much appreciated.

  17. Hey Ordaz,

Thanks for the reply to all of us :)

I would like to deep freeze MS9 but I know it would bring me virtual harm to do so
So we will reserve a secret operation to try that one

And about the Viper class, no I won't hate you as long as it goes fast and shoots heavy hits ;)
