Just to clarify I was just being light when I described priorities. When you have a company you are chief cook and bottle washer even if you have staff. So I was just spouting about the things that needed to be done. Apologize if I was taken literally. I have built two companies before so I know the drill. Doesn’t mean success. What would be great is some idea that helps put your company on the map. In Page America I had the same situation but my wild idea to put the first phone on a plane got my company recognized as an innovator – even know Sky-Tel was not a good business. I need a stunt that is low cost and gets attention from blogs, Wired, even Business Week and TV – then people hear about you. Any ideas? I will get you something really cool on Next Island if we use something plus being a VIP for a virtual lifetime. Continue reading...
How about a real-life murder because of a dispute over a large virtual property? How about real-life taking of hostages to blackmail someone to handover the deed of a virtual Land Area? But seriously, even full control over whole Timer Warner, Walt Disney and Newscorp will not help you as long as Next Island (and EU) is what it is right now. Maybe read comments on your last blog entry here. Platitudes suck, but still: "Content is king!".
Mmmm, an AG-compatible pulling device ;) I like that. (I'm biased from 6 years as a raid puller/co-leader in Everquest, I made my own javelins. Nothing like throwing something at a dragon or demigod, especially sharp pointy things you made yourself.)
Ahhh, the gimmick. Getting them there is easy. Keeping them on the Island is another story. You've got two, solid, promotable features: Scenery, and history. Buff the details on both, seek accredited historians for advising. Then maybe, have them promote it witin their community as a learning tool or virtual reference. That might be newsworthy.
Next Island is like a stage set without a full cast (needs more than a storyline quest, a hunting quest, and that's it.) Ancient Greece, I just found, is the same. (a storyline quest and a hunting quest, and that's it.) Also, you have lovely building exteriors but they are entirely undecorated on the inside. There is no reason to enter any of them unless the radar indicates there's an NPC inside, and in the case of the prison guard, she isn't guarding anything. Scenery rich, content poor. That's my shortest analysis. Since I'm on a roll about analogies, the resources on Next Island, are like a supermarket full of food you can't eat. (Nothing on the planet uses most of it. Nutrio Bars and Fertilizer pointless to make, only two blueprints that use local materials only.) And...333 Brontes Cyclops with just a sword and no armor? I'd bet PED no one ever completes that hunting quest. Even if you could kill them one at a time by dying over and over since they don't regenerate. Someone listed the lowest Brontes as 3600 health on Entropedia.
Im building up a new game, and a game with farm and wood chopping features, if anyone is interested on investing send me a pm. Thanks in advance.
I remember something MA did a few years ago that involved a TV program and wove a storyline into the game... Simply put. Make a storyline that involves small items, long quests and big public announcements and stretch it over time. The tension and expectation should be enough to generate buzz. But you need to work in the meantime to implement a full-on raging economy, otherwise people will get disillusioned. Maybe try mixing Facebook in the equation? I want a luxury spacecruiser named after me! It doesn't have to be entirely functional. It can just hover about lookin' good... X-D
I might be just repeating myself, so I will be brief: I was supporting NI fully and building a successful community, untill bps were removed, the funny pub papoos eliminated, no places were put for sale, nothing was happening, loot was failing (and it still is) so after I killed 5 sharks in a row with no loot(§!#&/()=?) and some of my most active members were fading away I decided I had to leave with my society in order to save at least our team spirit, as I was having no reply whatsoever from DP or his crew about any suggestion we gave. I am willing to give it a shot yet again now something seems to be happening, and I have even offered to drop everything Im working on and jump in to help as I am on the spirit of developing the planets we have before accepting new ones now that improvement seems to be finally arriving, some of the members of my soc are already there and because we moved (saving the society from collapse) we are now 186. The only question is: will the dev team at NI listen to the pleas of those who play that planet? On Arkadia I didnt even need to ask to give a hand, somebody had offered me if I would be interested in giving tips and helping up. Heavens, I am even willing to join that development team if someone from NI team asks me, however I expect the usual silence combined with the customary "we dont care and we wont move just because you want to help, thank you for wasting your time, money and efforts" from Next Island. There is no point promoting what is not ready, can they hear me here? People talk about an economy, Ill give tips!: 1) For Fafnirs sake, throw in bps to all the useless crystals, boar and papoo parts clogging the storages all over entropia universe and you will see that planets activity skyrocket and I give you my word that if this is done Ill maintain it high with monthly events to noobs and ubers! 2) sell all the cute houses on that planets for prices similar to those in FOMA (lower of course as FOMA at least is profitable) by not allowing monopoly (lets say every owner must just buy one each for a starter) so it wont turn into those ghost towns like in Caly (however caly at least also gives return) to fill it up. 3) NI team, dont claim you are willing to listen when you are not, that you want to help new players when you make their existence miserable giving them nothing and taking from them everything and when you kind of ignore the societies that are (or were) willing to help, listen to them! Dont just pretend to listen while you are thinking about big bucks from the outside that will never come because investors in a crysis are not foolish with their money and can see the planet is not ready AT ALL and besides being cute is a huge, massive FLOP because they wont listen! If those three things are not done this planet will fail, fail, fail! As it has done so far, since we left it to save our socs from the same fate! But no, I have been there before and they are too busy with their real world "promotions" and "re-launches" that only angers players (and potential investors too!) when they realise nothing is ready causing them to avoid it like the plague, to give a damn about what one of the societies that made them thrive as a planet for a while (even with the frigging bugs of former times!) before collapse was emminent has to say. By the way, I didnt even get any halloween preps, and I am kinda active all around. Guess Im not popular althought I am kind of popular by running a very popular society. Is this game rigged or what? As I promised, I tried to be as brief as possible.
