Project Version Updates

PLEASE NOTE: Project Version Updates as described below is done. Thread can/will be used to discuss/anounce further upgrades to the VU documentation.

We have been looking into options to make wiki editing easier.

One of those options are forms.

Today I would like to introduce a first basic form and a little project using this form to edit a few properties of Version Updates.

On the top right of the page (Version Updates) there are some instructions and the form should be self-explanatory.

Please try the form and help a little bit to automatize the wiki and make it editable way easier.

• UPDATE 3 Sep 2011: Everything earlier than 7.0 has been completed!
• UPDATE 4 Sep 2011: Everything earlier than 8.0 has been completed!
• UPDATE 5 Sep 2011: Everything earlier than 9.2 has been completed!
• UPDATE 6 Sep 2011: Everything earlier than 10.3 has been completed!
• UPDATE 7 Sep 2011: Everything up to 11.0.9 incl. planet-specific releases is done now. Automatic tables have been added to the planet-specific VU overiew pages.
• UPDATE 8 Sep 2011: Everything earlier than 11.8 completed except ROCKtropia & NI releases. Since everything that has been on the wiki already has been migrated into structured data this means also a change of the project's scope. Now it's necessary to add 'new' VUs to the wiki which is of course easy to do with the form. One just needs to find the release notes somewhere...
• UPDATE 9 Sep 2011: Everything earlier than 11.10.1 completed. NI releases and Rt releases still missing, it's really hard to find any information on them.
• FINAL UPDATE (9 Sep 2011):
  
  It's done. Check out the all new VU pages with automatically generated tables and a form to add new VUs.
  
  There are still some VUs missing, mainly ROCKtropia and Next Island VUs and that's mainly because neither NDS nor NI provide quality release notes or even mention they had an update.
  
  Anyway, as of today we have the most complete documentation of VU's in the entire Universe. ;) Thanks to everyone who contributed.
  
  I would like to draw your attention to really interesting information already available for the following updates scheduled for late September:
  • VU 12.1
  • Planet Calypso Content Release 2011.3

11.0 is the point at which it gets tricky due to all the planet-specific releases.

However, everything up to 11.0.9 incl. planet-specific releases is done now. And automatic tables have been added to the planet-specific VU overview pages.

If we keep up the pace we'll be done this week.

A few improvements have been made for VU docu:

• The huge VU overview page is now displaying an edit pencil for each VU in the right-most column, clicking it leads to directly to the edit mode (with a form) of the according VU
• Polished display of the Infobox (that's the box appearing on the upper right of a page)
• Section added to VU pages showing an automatically generated list of items with documented changes for the according VU, example: 12.4.2.
• Each VU page shows its contributors, have a look a the bottom of the page
• Minor other stuff

 

Another little add:

Release notes they it's 12.5.1 but the Client Loader said 12.5.1 for a week already?




For a really proper documention the VU forms and tables have been complemented with a field to record/display the Build (that's the 5 digit number in the VU name).

 

Added: Planet-specific VUs/CRs are now showing planet-specific wiki documented changes automatically too.
