I think Jordan is one of the more liberal Arab countries (with a few more) but seeing they are targeting the entire Arab world questions like that could be very interesting. One other example is the fact that woman can run around in their bra's, think that might offend a few people in the middle east as well. Anyway we will see I guess.
At first for me the webpage for Toulan would not load. After waiting for well over 5 mins I decided to cancel it and retry. The retry worked it loaded in seconds. When I joined I got an email pretty much instantly.
It's a planet I'm definitely looking forward. I expect it to be really different from the others. Would be great to read comments from a current Arab/Muslim EU participant.
Don't think I know any Arab/Muslim EU players and that might be the reason this planet is being developed.
LOL exactly what I was thinking of, am I going to have to cover my whole body to be allowed on the planet? Seconded that
As a muslim perhaps it qualifies for me to give my perspective. I'm not an Arab though. What you really need is an Arab perspective. I wouldn't mind reading that either :) Anyway as a muslim I very much doubt the planet would be aimed at muslims or be primarily based on religion. It's more likely to be inspired by Arabic culture. So yes that may include some religious elements but it wouldn't be the main focus. Ofcourse I may be completely wrong and it may just be completely fictitious and original. Difficult for us to know at this stage with so little information. Perhaps something to ask the planet developers in an interview. However, my guess at the moment is it'll be inspired by Arabic culture and based on "cultural stories". Whatever they may be because they have allready said their target audience is Arabs or at least I think they said that. Personally I find different cultures fascinating and so look forward to this planet. Consider this if there was an English company developing a planet. Would we immediately think yes it'll be based on Christianity? Probably not, they'd probably base it on cultural heritage things like robin hood, stonehenge, football, fish and chips, shakespeare, king arthur and ofcourse st. george may also make the cut :) because those stories are familiar and shared by all in England. Plus familiar to a world wide audience. That's if they said they were aiming at an English audience. At any rate will be intresting to see which direction they take.
saw this posted on EU website: http://www.entropiauniverse.com/bulletin/buzz/ So it looks like it'll be based around arabian nights.
I think it won't. Not primarily at least, of course it might contain elements of Arabian Nights. I think that's rather a little insertion by Arachne. Looking forward to the announcement. We just might have beaten them to it. ;)
From what I picked up so far, I agree with George's assessment. It'll be arabian nights themed, perhaps injecting lots of Arab culture into it, but my guess is it will not be focussed on Islam.
I agree that it will not focus on Islam probably, but fact is that most people in the Arabic world are Muslim and if they are targeting the Arabic world this mean we will have a lot of Muslims in here and from what I know about that religion (which is admittedly not very much) some of the elements we have now will not work for them. But then again it might be the more liberal Muslims that will be playing the game and they might not have any problems with it. (is a girl walking in her bra OK with the bible?)
I was actually surprised by this statement My idea of Arabian Knights are women dressed as Belly Dancers showing alot of skin. Then you hear about the women who have to be fully clothed and covered. I also know very little of their religion and customs. Little confusing given the information we hear on the news and from other people. And wouldn't that be the Koran, not the bible? LOL but then again its probably not Ok in the Bible either.
Thank you for the replys. I just got my email, but the site is down atm. LOL will log when it comes back up! :D
No Softy I meant the Bible as a comparison to what is in their and the Koran. Half naked women are not OK in the Bible to I guess (know as much about the bible as I do about the Koran though).
Intresting developments when you try and visit their site you'll get this: Maybe they are updating it or about to release new version or who knows ?? ;)
