As you know, the mission tracker links the various missions on our wiki page. Is this list input manually and is there a way to edit the titles? One of the missions in hunt the thing is misspelled and therefore links to a weird wiki title. For ex: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/Searching_Vehicles..._21) (It should be "Searching Vehicles... 2", or just "Searching Vehicles...") And: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/()_(blank_mission_name) I believe there could be a better title to put in the place of this mission besides "Blank Mission Name". Perhaps something like "Camp Finale Completion" or something along those lines. Also, should we be having a subdirectory for missions like (/wiki/HTT/MissionName) just incase there were two missions with conflicting names? I haven't found any, but mission names like "Pick up supplies" or "Weapons Training" are bound to have conflicting names in the future. (I'm not sure if MA has a rule on conflicting quest names or not)
When we had even less knowledge about wiki than the little we have today we decided to use namespaces for several ingame 'things' like missions So the pagename of any mission should start with "Mission:". A blank mission name sounds like a bug to me. Someone should file a support case. The use of a Mission namespace is also ruling out subpages like /wiki/HTT/MissionName. If there will be missions or anything else with conflicting names I think we should follow wikipedias approach wich is disambigution pages and further defining the item in brackets, fx: Mission:missionname (Hunt The THING) Mission:missionname (Arkadia Underworld) There are more means to distinguish between pages but there are not widely in use yet. These are called properties. Fx you can add on any page [[Entity:Hunt The THING]] to let wiki know that this item is to be found on HTT. Properties are also queryable. However, someone unfamiliar with wikis might find this inconvenient to use. Therefore we are working on forms to add those properties. But that is a shitload of work and will take a while... Though, we just might have found 'someone' to help ;)
Ah I understand. So the missions are not manually added but added through a EU database of somekind? As for this specific one, it's "() Nameless Mission" on our wiki, probably because it's not an actual mission. After looking at my video it was a window pop-up called "The End". So that would probably be the appropriate title. After you close it, you wander around and randomly get the reward. This is why on the HTT missions table, http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/Hunt_The_Thing#Hunt_The_Thing_Missions there is no objective, just walk around a bit to end it. I don't think I understand fully how the tracker works.
Me neither. ;) But for sure admin adds all the stuff manually. If it's a mission it should appear in the quest/mission log with a name. If the name is really " " then I can only imagine it is a bug. If they add more missions named " " we'll run into problems soon ;)
Well then we could ask him to correct some of the titles. No, the name isn't " ", but is literally called "()Blank Mission". Check the Mission tracker for HTT here: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/forums/planet-trackers/mission And the HTT wiki page: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/Hunt_The_Thing#Hunt_The_Thing_Missions
Ok. Just ran into that problem. Ran into the mission called "Hunt the Thing" which takes me to the HTT page. So how do you set up the disambiguation thing, or how do we work this out? EDIT: I made the page "Hunt The Thing (mission)". So if we want the tracker to link to that we will need to change the link. EDIT2: Whew. Wrapped up the HTT mission pages in a few hours. Sorta included a walkthrough in each one and some have tips in case they are stuck due to a bug or something.
The Mission tracker is a complete rewrite of the old system we had on vB. Before, I manually added missions, achievements and teleporters directly into the database. The new system has an AdminCP back-end where I can define planets, for Missions and achievements categories, for Teleporters continents (or areas) (and link them to a specific planet). I then manually enter the rest of mission/teleporter/achievement, supplying the name, picking the proper category (or continent), and entering the wiki name. The reason the " " mission has been called blank is because I did not want to have it appear as a mere space. By adding the "blank mission", that could be prevented. As for changing the wiki-links, I will do a bulk update of all the missions, achievements and teleporters by means of a query directly against the database :)
Great. Can you move them to namespace Mission? In the tab bar left of search field there's a dropdown menu containing the "Move" action and in then in the field labeled "to new title" you would just have to paste "Mission:" in front of the existing name. No blank between "Mission:" and the name. That would make the missions editable with a form and queryable. The form is not completely ready yet and has a few issues, but soon...
Done. All the missions now has a redirect from the previous name to the "Mission:Name". Hope that's right.
Really cool. I decided not to work on the TP form but on the Missions form. Except the rewards everything in the form should work with a few minor issue maybe. Hopefully I'll get the rewards part done soon and then we'll do some tests respectively use it to wikify missions.
Just added. Now there's a "Edit with form" tab left of the regular "Edit Tab". The edit with form tab only edits the form content the regular Edit Tab the whole page. Mh... it's actually not completely ready yet, workflows not established... however, let's call it BETA now. Try form editing the HTT missions. ;)
