Test and review of Improved Omegaton M2870

Initial disclaimer: Hi all this is my first review of an item - initially posted on Entropia Forum 2008-09-20 - but now on Entropia Planets - so please bear with me if I get something wrong. I plan to do some future tests with other items, weapons, faps, armors and possible other items so any advice you might have to improve the tests is greatly appreciated.

I finally got myself an Improved Omegaton M2870 the 15th of September 2008, and being like a little kid that just got his Christmas gift I ventured out to play a little with some big boys.

My equipment for this run was:
Ghost + 5b plates Hedoc SK-80 Adjusted and Improved Omegaton M2870 equipped with 2x Hunnir Lasers, Jzar Scope and A105 amp.

Oh well thats the stats on PAPER and facts, but how will it manage with my skills? (Check my profile on Entropedia.info) so I decided to start my own Tom thebuzz Christensen do item tests and reviews

Here goes with Improved Omegaton M2870:

First 400ped ammo blasted through this item went to figure out what this item really can do, so first start of with some Estophyl from provider and up to alpha, of course with no real luck.

While in the area I bounced into an Chomper provider well this being an uber gun, lets see what it can do Im normally just looking at these and then seconds later being flat at the ground counting down from 10 to 0 things goes white and Im suddenly standing up again, shaking my head and try to figure out wtf did happen there.

In this case I managed to shoot it all way down to about half HP and then SMOCK I was a n00b again, with a very expensive piece of equipment in my hands No did I even get a chance to return to the mob after 3 tries I gave up and well let me see what else I can do so went to one of my favorite n00bish places, as I kind of had a huge scratch there in my self-esteem.

Headed out for Limnadian where I blasted some Allophyl and Estophyl again with no luck at all, but it was a nice noobish run where I learned the true potential of what this gun could do. That somehow returned my trust in myself J

Oh getting bored with all the no looters and getting a bit braver, it was about time I headed out to the Hogglos, I usually has no problems with these even with my Unlimited HL8, tagging them with Marber Bravo and single them out has for some time been an easy thing for me.

The Hogglos was kinda fun, A-Bomb had told me that I would cut down my armor decay and fap decay a bit with the gun, kill faster and stuff But I never ever imagined what difference this gun could do to the tougher mobs. Basically I could kill two Hogglos in between each time I needed to use the FAP, finally however being swarmed with a nice blend of Old, Mature and Young I was killed and FAP couldnt help me at all so I ventured back to the revival as a former white dot

Again shaking my head and recovering by a huge bacon mob slapping me to the ground, I realized that now it would be time for me to do some wise hunting instead of changing mobs constantly

Turnover (Probably because I changed mobs constantly on 400ped ammo and 100ped decay on gun/amps/scopes/lasers/armor) was minus 250PED. However my FAP decay and Armor decay was significant smaller than Im used to.



Now it was time for one of my favorite mobs: Scipulor

I now started to hunt what I like to hunt Scipulors, its one of my favorite mobs and I often go okay on them They sometimes drops HL8 (L) and HL11 (L) which has some markup even though its too little but it still makes an plus in most hunts with my old HL8.

Under normal circumstances I couldnt take larger than guardian, and even at these I would have to fap a great lot. Dominants and Alphas were totally overkill and sent me to revival in most cases. Probably due to the HL8 reload time and the longer time killing it.

HL8: Normally I would end up with about 5-8 times getting killed in 450 ped ammunition, having 50 ped armor decay, 40 ped fap decay.

Now lets see what Improved Omegaton M2870 does do it make a difference for me?

450ped ammunition, 2 amps, fully repaired gun, armor and a fap.

First off, I now do guardians and dominants without fapping during battle unless I get the occasional crit from the mobs. Alphas I need to fap 4-5 times on

Compared to old times, the gun made it possible to do larger mobs, without major problems, secondly I died 1 time during a 450PED battle run. (Dont watch the darn TV while hunting I experience this daily to get killed anyway due to some hot chick or whatever is on TV that withdraws my attention from the game..).

After this first initial run this is my results:

• 1x HL8 176 PED TT
• 1x HL11 180 PED TT
• 350 PED oils, wools, hides and general materials.
• Skill gains? A lot
• Armor decay: 30 ped (HL8 gives 50 ped) (Diff: 20ped)
• FAP decay: 22 ped (HL8 gives 40 ped) (Diff: 18 ped)

• Gun, amp, lasers, tag rifle, scopes was decayed 102 ped.

Armor and Fap combined I saved 38 ped decay. Or 42.22 % saved.

I have made several runs afterwards and hunting "intelligent" with this gun results in a constant plus - ofcourse unless the mob is "saving up"...

Here are my rankings:
Speed: Killspeed was very high due to high dmg/sec and fast reload - therefore getting 90/100

Economical: I saved many peds on fap, armor, gun repair, making better turnover than ever - therefore getting 99/100

Coolness: Only thing real cool about the gun, is its fast reload, rather high dmg/sec and its rarity - therefore getting 85/100

Skills: The gun gives pretty decent skill gain it seems, not more green lines than NORMALLY but still gives me it seems more skillgain per green line than Im used to - therefore getting 85/100

Avalibility/Rarity: Not many guns in game, doesn't seem to drop anymore and is VERY expensive due to its reputation - therefore getting 15/100 which is pretty low.... But its avalible if your pockets are filled with gold...

Its REALLY hard not to give this gun 100% in all factors (besides avalibility) However some weapons is even greater so this gun ends up with a combined character of:

74.8/100

Unfort its hard to get a Improved M2870...
The recent financial depression has however
made it possible for many people to get one
cheap, plus it has also dropped in an SGA edition...

I'd love if someone has an item they want tested - something outta the ordinary ofcourse.

Improved MK II
DOA Rockjacker
Adjusted FAP

But ofcourse, any other item - please dont ask me to review an darn FAP5 or LR41 (L)... :)

 

Well I still shoot the gun almost daily.

Why?

 

Dats hard to say... 25-50$ per month using 8hrs a day in game... Is my guess

 

Sure, I just needs to get myself some peds on card first - I cant depo atm.

My I2870 atm is lent to a soc mate, but we can make this work somehow I guess. :)

I did take a few runs with an Doa RJ earlier - a soc mates. U got 2x Hunnir and Jzar for it too?
