Farewell - A much needed lifestyle change is required!

Discussion in 'Greetings, Hello, Goodbye' started by Viperstrike, Feb 12, 2012.

  1. Hi All,

I wish to bid you all farewell for the next few years while I get my fitness in order in RL.

I have diabetis and after my last specialist appointment I have had some fantastic news in that if I treat myself well with diet and regular exercise, I may have the opportunity to come off all medication for diabetis - In effect practically reversing the situation I am in.

I would like to thank Mega MegaVolt Volt and all society members of Kaos for being such brilliantly fantastic people ... Easy going and fun loving :)

Thanks to all of Kaos for trying their hardest to keep me ingame as well, however this is something I must give a shot. Health and RL is number 1 for me ;)

Do not fear, I am sure I will return in a few years once fitness and finances allow.
For now I have several other goals (mainly financial) that I wish to achieve first along with the fitness being the priority!

    Take Care All !
    Viper/Andy :)

My Dearest Viper ... as you have supported me in my time of challenge, so shall I continue to be a friend and support your efforts, even if it means that we don't connect that often. I'm only a PM or email away Hon, so feel free to exercise that choice should you be inspired to do so.

I certainly understand health coming first above all, and that should be priority #1 indeed, so I wish you well with that, and I hope once in a while you will keep us updated if you're comfortable doing so.

Much love and many hugs to take along with you my friend.

    Viperstrike,

Even though I do not know you very well, it is always hard to see a 'friend' go, but as you said, RL is the most important thing of all en your RL health even more so. I hope you can find a good way to cope with this illness of yours and that in a while you have the finance and drive to get back with us.

Even though you will not be playing, feel free to drop by here and let us know how you are doing, you know we are always interested in the life of the EU people and will support you all the way.

Blessed running on the tredmill, VS :) Diabetes is a pain, and if you were given the opportunity to get out of it, of course it's something you should jump on. Not too many people have that luxury.

Godspeed, and when you are ready to return, we will still be here :)

Dear friend - I wish you the very best and luck and success in your fight against diabetes. I'm sure you will reach the goal with inner strength and love from people around you - and that you have a lot of great adventures ahead of you.

Please, keep us updated about how it goes :) perhaps make a diary? It could be a great inspiration not only to yourself but also others in the same situation.

And I know for sure that you will return ... sooner or later :D

    Lots of

  7. Thanks for the kind words all :)

I greatly appreciate the understanding of the issue at hand.

My goal is to lose 32kgs to get back to 87kgs for 187cms.

I am looking at purchasing some gym equipment and trying out a new diet.

Also I will treat myself with the cash out from Entropia and buy a new small 40" 3D TV and 3D Bluray for my bedroom.

Something I can relax too after my gym workouts and hot showers ! ;)

Other than that, there is a new small car on the horizon as my current car is on its last legs.

Once I am able to purchase the new car outright, I shall return to Entropia shortly after.

Thankyou friends for being there, MS9, Lykke & Peter, Nor ya lil alien :)) and razer ! And everyone else.

And grats again Lykke and Peter, hope you both find your way to happiness with the new bundle of joy(s) on the way.

And MS9, good luck and good health to you with what you are going through atm ;) I sure all will be fine.

Ofc I will still drop in to say hi and let you guys know how I am going with my challenge. Never fear it shall be done !

    Take Care All,
    Andy/Viper :hugs:

Mate it's great news to hear you taking control of your life.

Even if it doesn't work as you desire, the general benefits of being healthy are bloody fantastic anyway.

When you threw out your stats it rang a bell: I'm exactly where you want to be (87kg and 187cm), but that's 23kg lighter than I was at my heaviest.

So you see, I know you can do it because I did it myself :)

I reckon gradual changing of ones habits is a far more long-lasting, beneficial and satisfying path than diets and lashing out on equipment. Hell, just going for a 5 minute run every second day is a great start. But that's just what works for me.

I cannot recommend zenhabits.net highly enough. If you subscribe to it, I daresay you'll regularly have words of wisdom and advice in your inbox that will make a difference to you.

Good luck on your new path, and don't forget to take some "before" shots for future reference!

    Tim.

  9. Good luck. Sorry to hear about the diagnosis. I was diagnosed early last year. It is possible to get in shape and fight it, but I'm told that once you have the dx, it's impossible to completely reverse it, but at least you can do something about it to keep it from progressing.

  10. Aye that is what I am hoping, any medication you can come off is always a positive ;)
If anything it will keep me motivated to keep in shape and eat healthy !

  11. Thanks bud,

I will check out that Zenhabits.net too.

    Cheers,
    Viper/Andy

  13. LOL, It is feeling like that already .... I have been sifting through treadmill & upright bike offers and new diets while being sick ! The summer flu I picked up last weekend.

Anyway the PT-400 in the attached catalogue (page 37) is the one I am looking at getting first @ $ 25/week

That's some serious heavy-duty quality stuff in that catalogue. Nice to see they lease that stuff out, too. How many weeks will you be obliged to sign yourself up for for one of those?

  15. Hi Peter,

For the 25$ deal it is a 3 year lease with the option to re-lease a new platform or purchase the current at the end.
Their minimum lease is 12 months, but it works out at ... checking ... 40$ /week.

I am actually considering purchasing the treadmill outright, I got the quote in today.

For the PT-400 it is 4703 AUD, it is their commercial treadmill designed to be used 24h/7d/5y

The only reason I would buy it outright is for asset purposes & that it would last 5yrs+ guaranteed.

    From quote received:

  16. I should mention that after speaking with the diabetis dietician today,
In making life simple since funding will not be an issue, we have decided to go with the Lite n Easy 1800 Cal diet plan.

It is amazing the number of breakfast, lunch and dinner options they have.

You can tailor a weekly plan to suit your hearts desires.

I was stoked when i saw the variety of food on offer.

    Here is a sample plan - http://www.liteneasy.com.au/nova/sample_menu_1800.html

And get this, 55 dinners to choose from - http://www.liteneasy.com.au/nova/food_dinners.html

Oh man, can't wait to try this out, and budget wise, it works out about the same as what I spend on food per week anyway ~ $ 160 (I have a budget of $ 25 a day for food $ 175 a week)

Heh, here comes the desert ...

  19. Yes the dinners look great !

Some fantastic news, I have a $ 30k personal loan approved.

So all goals will be achieved at once financially,
However returning to EU will still be 12+ months away until I get back down to 87kgs.

Here is the car I am buying ... small picture included ... Satellite.jpg
Total price $ 19900 complete with insurance, onroad costs, delivery, no more to pay.

Fitness equipment. Total $ 10,000 delivered and installed.

    Included: PT400, IS400, IB500, IE500

    PT400.jpg IB500.jpg
    IE500.jpg IS400.jpg

So yay, I go to sign for it all tomorrow :)

I can say this - It feels fantastic to get ones shit together for a better future !
