The space mob misery again... Of course space mobs are imaginable. Of course space mobs work somehow, Hitchhiker's Guide to Galaxy works too and even B-movies can work somehow. We, current players, cannot be shocked anyway. We are used to fire a Sci-Fi plasma weapon from 1m distance 50 times on a tiny dinoaur in hope to find a Shopkeeper Pad in its body. We are lost anyway. But space mobs inside Entropia Universe might not work for everyone. I think there's simply a lack of creative direction. (creative director of EU? Does that position even exist?) Many little discrepancies might add up and reach a level that's just too much for some people. And that's the real issue, how to attract or at least not distract those that do not play yet. Making playing cheaper, adding a few instances, writing stories, add 50 missions, etc... All of that might make EU more attractive but such developments cost a lot of money. Other things don't cost money. For example design space enemies in a way that they work for as much people as possible. And in that respect many ways are possible. Why not a couple of Asteroid fields where large scale mining operations of a several organisations (good/bad karma) exploit the available resources. Utilizing, scouting ships, mining ships, probing drones, guarding ships, freigthers, etc Besides that I think space should not be crowded. It is probably called space for reason: because it's almost empty. To make space exciting it doesn't necessarily need another curiosity every other AU. There could also be somethig like a 'incident system'. With a theoretically endless amount of possible incidents from getting a rescue call from a tradeship with technical difficulties (go there, repair them, get rewarded a coupe of space tokens) to the ordinary birds of prey uncloaking directly in front of you... Lol, pragmatic solution. There is some migration going on already, fx the Meteor Worm space mob became a Hussk on a planet:
Realism ! Realism! nah I don't want it ...I want entertainment :-) Fancy space creatures to shoot because it's fun. Not some stupid asteroid...that would be boooring.
The asteroid would not be for shooting. It'd be like a small challenge game within the game. Perhaps to introduced real life skills into the blend? As in you need to succesfully navigate to the asteroid field in order to get to a specific instance. The harder the asteroid field you pass, the better the loot in the instance. It could also pose as a defence mechanism against pirates chasing you. Pirates attack, you dissappear into the asteroid field and make them actually work for their booty.
