On a side note... I am going to give win 8 a try right now, so if you don't see me back here in say a day... that's because I am re-installing win 7!!

 

Ok so im back..

Pro's:
- It makes my computer zing!! love the speed.
- Looks cool adds some new dimensions not there before.
- Using the desktop part is like using regular win 7.
- Seems to work for this forum and others.. meaning I don't have to log on every time I visit.. (but it seemed to work again before I installed this)
- Has spell check! Now this I like!!
- Seems stable so far.

Con's:
- If you have a newer router that uses the dual band 5 and 2.5, it doesn't recognize the 5ghz..
-Takes some time to get used to the new stuff. Like the main page..

This is the new start button and what it leads to. It can be configured with what you need and use more often.... just haven't figured it out yet!!

Will post more after I load the vid driver I found for it.. crosses fingers.. all though I'm not sure I have to use it yet. going to try and run EU!! Crosses fingers again!!

OK found some new things out. I figured how to configure the start screen now. It makes a bit more sense

One weird thing was the shut down and restart option.. lol I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to shut off the computer LOL!! After a quick search on the interwebs, I found it and it's a bit strange at first but getting used to it fairly fast.

I'm doing an update atm to see if it fixes some issues with drivers. But so far I can't complain too much. One thing that's fairly noticeable is the speed. It is by far faster then Win 7!!



Update: So some pics of win 8



1st is what EU looks like. As expected it isn't supported yet hence the X's but it still loads and plays. In fact it plays very nicely. I would expect that when a proper driver comes out for the vid card, it will play even better

2nd is the settings tab. Simply put your mouse on the top right corner or bottom right corner and go down to the gear shaped icon seen at the bottom of the next pic. By the way I had one hell of a time trying to figure out how to shut off my computer or restart it as the start button is replaced by a start screen that doesn't have it in there. After doing to searching I found it to be in the settings menu of this pic, under the power button.. LOL

3rd is the search which includes the search, share, start, devices and the settings buttons. You will use this feature the most as it has every thing you need for quick references. Otherwise you will use the start screen which is at the bottom left of the screen.

All in all, it isn't a bad program so far. There are obvious bugs that need to be sorted, but having been playing EU for 6 years, I am quite used to those!!

This new windows is a multi platform device so it can be used on tablets, phones, PC's, laptops, and even Mac's!! This is it's drawback as well as it isn't one device design they may have bitten off more then they can chew. As it is still fairly new into the beta, I would suspect they will get better as time goes on. If Win 7 is anything to reference too, I think it could be a big hit!! It will take some time to get used to but, if it works as well as or better then win 7 then the learning curve isn't all that bad!!

 

As far as I know everyone can try it.. I did the testing with win 7 as well and was impressed by it. I thought I would give it a shot!!

A little update for the Win 8 side.

I found a way to install a vid driver for my 4870 X2 2 gig card, and as expected it makes EU run sweet! I would even dare to say that I am getting better fps now then I did before!! It seems to be stable all though I have had one or two glitches every now and then but nothing that a restart on the EU side won't fix.

All in all I would say it is going to be a great OS!!

 

LOL you weren't kidding!! Now I may just have to do the purchase!!
