A lot of stuff is happening … Since Entropia Tracker started in 2008 I have personally always had a feeling that with the data Entropia Tracker has, we could provide a much more complete Entropia Universe experience on the web, compared to what it was providing. Up until now Entropia Tracker was merely a “pretty interface” into the database. For almost a year, I have been working on a new version of Entropia Tracker that would incorporate a lot of the ideas I have had for Entropia Tracker since the start. (Hey! I also have a full time job!) Now it is time to show a preview of this site. Since the idea were that the site should be much more than just an interface to the global databases, but more a site with a social and news orientated twist. The name didn’t feel right anymore. This is why the new site has changed name from Entropiatracker.com to Entropialife.com. After careful consideration and quite some time of collaboration in an unofficial sense, BIG Industries and Entropia Tracker have now put their heads together officially to bring you Entropia Life. The new site is a mixture of facebook, google maps, Entropia Tracker, Twitter, forums and ideas from other social media sites all mixed together in a way that is unique to any Entropia Universe related site. All custom coded – no google, facebook or twitter API/code used anywhere. I could write a long post about what you can do on the new site, but then the post would be a few pages long. Instead I would like to invite you to test out the new site. There are however, a few things you should know. The site is running on a COPY of the Entropia Tracker database. This means that any changes/profile updates you do on Entropia Life, does not affect Entropia Tracker and vice versa. Once we fully launch the new site – we will take a fresh copy of the Entropia Tracker database and apply that to the Entropia Life website. We will be working diligently to reach our official launch goal of May 29th, so please understand that support cases may have a longer than usual wait time. The site at this time IS NOT COMPLETE, so please understand that not everything is working as it is supposed to yet, so hold off on those support cases until we launch please. www.entropialife.com
Will the new site Entropia Life be on the Tapatalk app? Entropia Planets is all ready on Taptalk which is pretty handy when away from the PC while at work, out and about, etc, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hi, a quick critique. Checked entropialife.com, and found this: Firefox doesn't work well. Quite some of the menus to the left are bugged, in "mining" and "settings". Turned off AdBlock and allowed in NoScript, didn't help. Menu is scrambled and some items have no links. IE works. . Another site that assumes that I have a browser window width of estimated 1190 pixels :( Me not like such. My active browser window usually is one among many, and anything that requires a width beyond 600 pixels is regarded as a pain. Human eyes are not well suited to read long lines of text, and even if the site doesn't contain such, having to read other sites too automatically leads to an adjustment in browser width to accomplish lines with an acceptable width. Going then to entropialife means switching to fullscreen (eeeekkkk!) or to drag the width. No fun. HTML is made to work with any screen size available on the given device, initially. . Data sources still give me an 404, so nothing yet to test for my most desired feature. Sorry for the rant. Not meant to give you a bad time, more to point to things that could be done better, maybe. It's your decision how to valuate it, and what to accept. Feel free to ignore 'em at all (maybe besides the menu problem from #1?), #2 wouldn't hurt me this much, and #3 will be done when it's done, I assume :) What I'd like to propose: Tighten the restrictions for participants that prefer to play in "hidden mode", at least as long as they are running a tracker client. I myself have my reasons to play in such mode, and I don't think I have to explain why. But I don't think that I, running a tracker client religiously for the benefit of all the community, entering any tiny oil claim into Mining Info, and having set my "Location Privacy" to "Everyone", so that everyone can see the location of my tiny Oil claim, should be restricted this much. I'd be happily ready to allow all of my rare globals to be published - under the name of "A participant", for instance. I'd be happily ready to allow all of my rare globals to be shown to Soc & Friends (a limited group that I can control myself), too - I just don't want to spam my player name all over the uncontrollable internez, together with time stamps and values looted. That would hurt me, sooner or later, I fear. Proposal: Running a client for sufficient time would give you access to your own global data. Let it cost a certain amount of the earned gift credits, maybe. . Running a client & opening your data to Soc & Friends would give you access to their global data, too. . Entering data into the mining info, provided you'd allow to be viewed by all, would earn you gift credits, too. As I see atm, when having these settings I can view the claims of others too, in the mapper. . Charge a small bit of gift credits for any data dump, to prevent abuse. You're fine and successful already with the ppl that happily give out their data. Now embrace those that are more cautious. This only can add to the success of your service! I value your service a lot, and propagate it as much as possible. I have trust in you. The changes you have talked about are absolutely awesome, especially the export functionality. Don't be mad at me 'cause I prefer to stay 'hidden', I have my reasons. Doesn't mean that I'm not ready to contribute, read above. And doesn't mean that I'm not ready to support you, at all. Thx for your work, "Gratz!" to what you have done yet, and "Best Wishes!" to your future projects! Keep on the good job! And have fun! Edit: Typo ...
Thats really odd. The site has been tested in FireFox 11.0, Opera 11.50, IE 9.0 and Chrome 18.0.1025.162 m to cover the most used browsers on the site. All of them shows the site the same (working) way. Have you perhaps seen the site before we "soft launched" yesterday, so it would have cached an old css file? The site consists of 3 columns. Left column is the menu, at 150 px. Center - content - column is 800 px. Right column - advertisment - is 240 px. So your "content", where text is... is only 800 pixel. That center column is often divided into two text columns each at 390 px - beause, just as you say, "long lines of text" is hard to read... Not done yet. :) Good idea.. will think about it.. :)
Under 'My Favorite Mobs' it shows the headings, MoB, Language Error, Number of Globals. I am guessing Language Error is not the right heading. There is a 1 showing in my notifications icon, but when I click on it its empty. I would really like a way to go back through discoveries history further than just the 1 page worth. Hopefully that helps some, narfi
Hi, Oh, I have to apologize - tried again and found out that I had forgotten to allow the site the use of its own fonts (thought I had allowed it ...). So my Verdana was used, more font width, scrambled menu. (Temporary links to pics: As it should be and with my font) I have to apologize again, you are right. As long as I ignore the Ads, 1024 width (my setting for "broad sites") works well, for menu and content. For your viewing pleasure, here another temporary link to how I see the site now, with my "grandma's browser settings" (I used a reduced window height to keep the size of the screenie smaller, usually it's nearly quadratic): Xandras ELife I realize I'm ways outdated. I still use CRTs, and am constantly searching for good ones to replace mine, in case they die one day. I just hate the modern flatscreens, the more the wider they are - I don't watch movies on my monitor(s), I have better suited gadgets for this. Most flatscreens just hurt my eyes ... And I hate fullscreen mode, besides games where it's often unavoidable. But I'd bet that me and my kind will be extinct in a few years anyway, mostly because of the lack of replenishment. Acceptable (new) CRT's are now only available as pre-press proof thingies anymore, for prices beyond good and evil :/ So no reason to go long ways to cater a few weirdos. The site works, even for me now, and that is what counts. Thank you for your patience and the hints that helped me to find my mistakes! Next time I'll double-check before writing another rant ... So better don't think further of my rant, goto work! Now! ;-))) This is ways more important to me :) I bet most of the ppl that are "hidden" atm wouldn't mind to shine up without revealing their player name - "An avatar" or "Avatar 04711", as name, should easily do the trick. Those players might love to fully contribute, just don't want to make themselves "trackable". Anyways, have a good time!
Thanks Narfi for pointing out the language error, is fixed now. Also what you see on discoveries is everything that has been discovered since the system was implimented. During soft launch we are having to periodically adjust some aspects of the database to allow implementation of new planet data feeds so that may affect some discoveries in the table, but after were up for "official launch" it should start building quite a few tables of discoveries for ya :)
Including all discoveries before may 2nd? And will there be possibility to see discoveries by avatar? For instance on my page I could see a list of discoveries I had made?
I'll let kasper answer your first question there, but your idea for personal discovery section sounds like a good one, I don't foresee a problem implimenting that, might be a bit since we have quite a bit were working on currently, but I see no reason not to implement a "view my discoveries" page :)
Done a little work in this area per your request today ;) Currently discoveries list compiles the latest 100 to help speed up site, however you can now click on any users page and below their hunting stats options on the left, you will notice a "View Discoveries" tab IF they have at least 1 discovery, so feel free to check out your page Narfi, you got a nice list going there i see :)
