Are planet partners leeching from Calypso?

Ah when was the last time you and I had a nice debate MS9.. oh yeah NeverDie.. LOL much fun.

I have to say the only real thing that is keeping me here is the new planets. (like harmony) I never stay on a particular planet for more then 2 months and in the end, I always end up on Caly. I cycle my peds, and in the biggest share always goes to MA. Just like any other planet.

For me, once space has a lot more updates, I think that will be where I will play the most. This is one of my favorite ideas since joining in 2006..

New planets were needed to keep EU alive and MA new this, that's why they came up with planet partnerships. It was said earlier that Calypso was becoming stagnant because uber players had a monopoly and so low to mid level players were losing incentive, well this is completely true... RT was the first p-partnership that actually brought about this vital change without which the EU platform would have faded. RT created a domino effect; NI, Arkadia, Cyrene - and this surely will continue as there are many other slots still available.
The point being that new planets are a good thing for the EU brand/platform as it democratizes the whole thing and what one person thinks is gimmicky another person doesn't. Fact is often stranger than fiction - if that means being gimmicky, well sometimes you need a gimmick or two.

 

Disagree with OP on all accounts. Classic alarmist sensationalism and absence of validated statistics.

initially wrote some text as a reply for here, stopped then. Would have been too aggressive. Re-used some of it at another forum, but some paragraphs still would fit.

So, at a dieing forum I wrote this:

But, according to the OP, "Arkadia is a parasite on Calypso". He further claims that:

Then he declares any other planet as "failed", right. And they shouldn't exist, for the better.

This is what CLD's have made of some ppl of our community. They don't care for the game anymore, after having bought enough CLD's they get busy doing anything, even spreading plain lies, for the short-time benefit of their PED card.

To be honest, I was shocked seeing "Skywalker" posting such. And I was very angry, and had written a long, aggressive post to counter.
But then I slept over it, and now things are less of a drama. For sure, George got consumed by his financial interests, and maybe opened the thread in a time where he'd not really wished to to do.

Nevertheless, the thread title is good for a laugh, anyways ;-)

As far as i know george has no CLD, only useless stuff he bought for way too much markup (including shops on RT and arkadia). He does have a point about parasiting though, you can't just throw it all away because you disagree on some points.

I'm sorry, but this talking about other Planets parasiting on poor Calypso is plainly hilarious. It's very obvious that it's exactly the other way - Calypso does it's best to leech from the efforts of the other Planet Partners, especially Arkadia. Utilizing its unique position of being owned by the Platform Provider company, in an IMHO shameless way.

Tbh, I don't know what made George posting this. He's not known for such, at least for me. I'm wondering. Something must have happened.

I hope I made my post w/o actually hurting anybody, and/ or attacking someone directly too much. This wouldn't have been intended. But I admit, it has made me very angry.

Do planet partners leech from Calypso? Not sure... probably sometimes... probably not others.

Currently though, with Calypso being the main hub for sales and things, MA should seriously consider re-implementing auctions between planets and/or maybe alternatively going a different route, accepting it, and re-arranging things so that Calypso sits in the center of the space map, surrounded by the other planets so that all the new planets are equidistant from Caly. If they do go with the auctions, they could do like a +1 ped fee to normal auction fee and use the global auction setting for that... so one auction anywhere would be visible anywhere else and could be used anywhere else to buy. If/when they do that they ought to add in the shop directory in to the auction too...

Imho the space and planets are a big plus for the universe and calypso.
if you get bored of caly you can make vacations on other planets, there are ppl flying back and forth bringing us items and stuff of other planets which adds some spice too.
arkadia imho has done very well from scratch.. I know lots of ppl that have moved to Arkadia and arkadia has brought lots of stuff and items to the universe.
everything - even next island - which is a bit boring in its current state - adds up the sum of things to explore and do in this universe. but you can still go and explore it for a while and have some fun and a little break of the normal calypso life

 

Exactly Leeloo. I think there is probably always something to do now. There really is a LOT of content unless you stay on top of it every update. I'm sure there are (interesting) missions I have yet to do more or less everywhere now except Next Island (cause I think I did them all... all the realisticaly possible ones anyhow)

not to mention new places to explore. Sure there are still OLD places I've not been to on Caly let alone the new ones!
