Entropia Universe Android App Released MindArk is very excited to announce that Virtual Tycoon, the very first Entropia Universe mobile application, has been released on the Google Play app store today. Virtual Tycoon gives players full access to the Construction system, the Auction system, Storage, Accounting, Avatar Skills and Professions, and Hall of Fame information. In short, this is the first step in making the Entropia Universe experience available when away from the computer.” To download Virtual Tycoon directly, visit the Google Play App store on your Android mobile device at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mindark.eu.virtualtycoon The Apple iOS version of Virtual Tycoon will also be released very soon, stay tuned! Wow, that's awesome. I don't have an Adroid phone, so I guess I'll have to wait for the iPhone one to come out. Someone witrh an Android, take some screenshots?
OK here are the first screenshot I got log in screen and the Gold Card security thingy The 9 things you get to choose from Construction let you craft stuff from your phone Did not actually get to craft anything, because it crashed all the time, and there seems to be a problem with names of the blueprints and items in your inventory or Auction (they are just not there) Storage, item info and Markup Skills and Professions, let you look at your skills and professions. Deposit/Withdraw sends you to a website where you can Deposit of Withdraw, not sure what Notifications will do, but you can set an amount for globals, so I assume it will send you big globals and HOF's to you phone (wonder what sound it will make) And if any of you feel the need to give me some more PED to get the PED count up, please do :)
looks promising, still has a few bugs, but it should be nice to have. To bad I have to have my Gold Card with me now all the time if I wanna use this.
Wikified: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/Virtual_Tycoon Considerations: 1. They almost applied the original design first posted in that thread: Mining and Hunting to come in version 1.1 2. Where's the API giving services like EP access to the same data (fx auction history)? 3. Why not integrating these features in regular website for everyone to use instead of/in addition to an app for a single mobile OS?
This is a good idea only I don't have an Android phone either, but why Virtual Tycoon? Call it what it is, something like Entropia Universe Mobile.
yes, the naming is kind of iffy, especially since that name was previously owned by some stock exchange demo thingy for Phillipines stock market if I read google right... bad news since first hit on google for the name has a warning that 'this site may harm your computer' I have not tried it because I can't at the moment due to some software bug/glitch with the installer, but if you don't have android, you might be able to 'try' it out anyways with bluestacks, the android emulator that runs on the PC.
Another funny incident: if you google entropia virtual tycoon the terranova blogs are in the top10 of results.
Thx, I'll try the bluestacks emulator, but what gets me is that you would think that 'Entropia' would be part of the android app name. It's almost as though they're trying to re-brand the platform for mobile phones.
rebrand? My suspicion is more that they are trying to 'hide' behind a new name to change their reputation that proceeds them - something they don't want avatars to do in game itself, ironically.
Yer, rebrand, don't know where the hyphen came from Hiding behind a new name or rebranding, same thing. Either way it doesn't make sense unless MA plan to eventually separate VT from EU.
This may be so.. Think about all though people who don't want to use a computer or don't have one, but own a mobile device.. It's a huge resource of people that can be introduced to the game. More people, more money. A seperation.. most likely not.. but who knows.
Yep, it's a good idea for people who don't use a PC, but unless there are links in the app to the official EU site and or MA's site then those playing the app may never know that VT and EU are linked. If there are links in the app, then won't users think it odd that the main game is called EU when the app is called VT.
This may entice people to go out and buy a pc... it's a trap I tell ya.. There may be a reason behind this name thing, but I don't think it was to hide away from the EU name though..
if they were really serious of wanting to get heaps of people in, they would port it across to console...huge untapped population there
