Entropia VU News: Looking forward to VU14.1

UPDATE 12 March 2013:

Tomorrow our servers will be temporarily made unavailable while we implement Entropia Universe Release 14.1. The servers will be taken down at 2013-03-13 09:00 UTC, and we estimate a downtime of at least 120 minutes.

We had hoped that this week would bring what we expect to be called VU14.1 Planet Partner Updates, but it looks like that may be delayed another week now.

As you know MindArk as well as most of their Planet Partners are tight lipped concerning any changes before they happen. They do this to keep the markets stable and prevent any fire sales just before major changes to the system.

It is however frustrating for us as players to always be in the dark, so we spend a lot of time speculating and trying to read into any hints they give in hopes that one day the VU is implemented with all of our personal hopes and dreams.

From reading announcements by MindArk and their Planet Partners we can form some ideas of what we expect in this weeks VU.

Entropia Universe​

A new Quest Tracker interface will be implemented which, as the name suggests, makes tracking currently active quests a breeze.

Another nice new feature is that the item information panel now displays the actual level of protection offered by unlimited armor parts which are below maximum TT value.

Lower Global Thresholds for low level creatures mean that it will be possible to get a 20ped (for example) on a puny mob, while still needing 50 ped to get a global on a higher level mob.

500hp will be the highest mobs that can have their global threshold lowered and 10ped will be the lowest value it can be set to.

There will be global messages when you loot rare or special items, so more chances to get your name on the boards even if you are a low level player.

Planet specific TEN Edition items will be introduced on each planet as already mentioned in each of the planet sections above.

The change to global thresholds have some players concerned that we will have non stop spam in chat, so hopefully there are additional ways we can control what we want displayed in our individual chat windows.



Mind Ark just announced that the Big sale that has been on hold since Christmas will be a newly discovered Moon with the following assets,

• A start room for new participants to become acquainted with the Entropia Universe user interface and basic gameplay.
• A Lunar Command Center with teleporters, terminals, storage, auctioneers, quest NPCs, four (4) premium shops, and portals to the subsurface caverns.
• Two (2) Lunar Habitats, each with 50 apartments and 5 shops. These apartments and shops are individual estates which can be traded to other Entropia Universe participants.
• Eight (8) subsurface caverns filled with unique creatures and rare resources.
• Four (4) unique creatures.
• Four (4) hunting quest chains, one for each creature.
• Mining within the subsurface caverns, including two (2) new mining resources, exclusive to the moon.

The starting bid for the new Moon will be 1.5 million ped (150k USD) and early speculation has the final price in the 3 million ped range.

Hopefully this VU will bring a preview of the moon so we can all get an idea of what it is about. But the FAQ about the moon MindArk released today suggests we may not see much of it for a while.

All in all it looks like an exciting VU ahead of us, and although we should be prepared for the usual bugs, I feel that regardless of which planet we are individually on, there will be new and exciting things to discover and figure out together.

 

Calypso​

Crystal Palace Mercenary Recruitment Advisory

This seems to imply that a new area or instance will be opened up on Crystal Palace open only to those who have completed the 5k Aurli missions and is promised to be there for at least a year.

Calypso has not yet held any TEN events, so it is possible that one may be announced.

This is also the VU when TEN items are supposed to be put into the loot pool but we do not know what mobs are expected to drop them.

From other Planet Partner announcements it appears that only some mobs from each planet will have TEN items added to their loot pools, and since Calypso has not named their mobs we can only guess on which ones those will be.

Items for lower lvl players perhaps from Daikiba or Combibo while higher end items would be in the more difficult mobs most likely on land areas to reward Landowners for their investments. (Proteron and Furror would be good examples)

 

ROCKtropia​

There will be at least one new mission on Rocktropia, and Neverdie has hinted there may be more.

He also has said that the new oil rig at the Docks will be turned on this VU as well.

• Young Pop Dragons

Last week NEVERDIE also launched QuestBomb.com as a way for players to earn peds by writing reviews for Rocktropia based items, areas, mobs and misisons, if you are interested in writing or are tired of sweating, you might want to look into this interesting new idea.

 

Next Island​

Any communication from the Next Island developers remain at ZERO. (if they even exist)

What does this mean for the VU and for the TEN event?

Will MindArk put TEN items in some of the Next Island mobs and drakes, or will it be a dead planet in terms of this event?

There was some speculation that Next Island could be sold as part of the long delayed Christmas Sale, but with the Moon sale announcement we know this isn't the case.

Wouldn’t it be cool if......

• Next Island started developing their storyline and time travel destinations again?
• Next Island was sold off as shares like the CLDs were and MindArk invented the development into making Next Island meet its potential.
• Time Travel Destinations on Next Island became the new route to adding player owned content into the game. (create a new mini map with parallel time lines/universes that can be owned by players like huge land areas)
• (Insert your strange ideas here)

 

Arkadia​

Herman Industries new and renamed weapons

​

Arkadia announced that they will be re-naming their Herman weapon series to match the new profession level requirements that were adjusted a few weeks ago. At the same time they will be adding new weapons to fill some of the SIB gaps.

So we can probably expect some new discoveries coming from Arkadia this week.

In his interview David Dobsen mentioned a few things as well.

• New missions that will involve the Race Track.
• There will be location markers on the map for where the starter missions begin.
• There will be a new PVP Event Area with fort type battle zones.
• There will be new Event Areas for Caraboks and Gallards.
• The Arkoin Brokers will be Activated!
• The door for the Gold Key Instance will be unlocked.
• Big improvements for Celeste Harbour performance
• Fixes to Furniture, Clothing and Textures and they way they are displayed
• Lots of un-announced stuff to be discovered once the VU goes live

We dont know what mobs will drop TEN items on Arkadia but favored event mobs could include Oratan, Korwil, Carabok or Nusul.


Congratulations to Svena svena Faraday for crafting the first Arkadian Golden Key!

She turned it in for the One Million Arkoin prize instead of waiting to use it in the Instance, so It is just a matter of time before someone crafts one to use in the instance and discover what the Mystery has been all about.

 

Cyrene​

Cyrene has been working on fixing some bugs which delayed the TEN HUB event. Hopefully those fixes will be implemented this week and perhaps a new announcement on when to expect the event to take place.

Possible mobs to look for TEN items to drop from on Cyrene may include Dire Weeds, Rhino Beetles or Dusters.



Still in their soft launch stage, Cyrene continues to have weekly discoveries for their dedicated early colonists.
