Show me your avatar before and after contest entry pics !

    Of course big gratz to the winners and i am OK with not winning because i am not active enough to use the skill boost thingies anyway. :)

    But while some of the winners (especially Svarog)look very cool, i am a bit surprised at some other pics they choose...
    So i am really really really curious to see the pics you sent to the contest to see if there are some unrevealed gems among them :)

    Was a little confused about the rules so i told them that "If one entry means i can't enter with both Rutuba armor pictures and swimsuit pictures, then just discard the Rutuba pics and enter the red swimsuit pics into the contest.".

    Someone was forced to work overtime and choose from these silly avatar pictures, and that someone was an office cleaner. In no other way I can explain the results. Another example of bad work, just look how MA updated their official site :biggrin:

    I don`t need this skill boosts, but the first place was to be my :curse:

    Other then the one by Malachalypse Mal The elder all avatars look way to 'plastic' to me. I have made my avatar with a few wrinkles to make me look more human.

    Aframo you could be on the winning list too.

    Actually when traveling ingame i saw many really good, not necessarily beautiful, but very creatively made avatars i would put on the list instead of some of the more ordinary-most-avatars-look-the-same-way looking winners.

    Thats why i was curious to see the pics people sent to them.


    I am also surprised to see that at least from the winning pics it looks like their (MAs) understanding of what an avatar is, differs from mine.

    I think an avatar is not only the face but body too and some non tight fitting clothes we can see on these pictures kinda hide the shape of the body and armors totally distort it - we have swimsuit round in real life competitions to judge that part of the whole picture.

    I think i would have to disagree a little bit on that.
    I think of an avatar as what represents you in the game.

    The clothing, armor, accessories that people see you in is your in game 'persona' or avatar and how your face and body fit what you display is crucial.

    I don't run around 1/2 naked, so I could care less what my avatar looks like naked, I care about how it looks i the clothing and armor that I regularly use and how people see me.

    The same is still true though for someone that does choose to run around naked, or provocatively clothed, the skin and shapes and how they fit with what little clothing they do choose to display play a big part in how people see them and their 'persona'.

    In all of this your face and facial detail as well as limb proportions are really the most important, and then the rest is just to customize how that fits together.

    My definition is closer to "body" in real life.
    There is my more or less unchangeable body and there are my clothes - two very different and separate things.

    And if i understand you correctly your definition would be closer to "look" or "style" in real life.
    I have so many clothes and can do so many different combinations of them that by your definition of "avatar" it would mean that i have few hundred avatars. :)
    I change my virtual clothes pretty often, like every few logins (before they got uglier in the new avatar system). Don't you ?

    MA would do better if they were more precise. :)

    My clothes after the update were awefull, so half naked is how I looked best... Irl as well ;) cough cough. :D

    I'm a little surpised by MA's choice too. But then... can you remember the other big screenshot competition whose winners were supposed to go into official promo material?

    I didn't even sent in my ava because I think she came out of the creation area too ugly and too generic. But looking at the winners my chances wouldn't have been that small I guess.
