I don't know what fairytale you're reading from, or who's feeding you that line of bullshit, or whether you're having a brain fart or not, but ... fair, my ass ...

That's probably an MS9 that you're not used to, but there will be more of it, because I am sick and tired of some in this community not holding MA accountable - and for what? ... I could give you a fucking laundry list ...

How's that for plain and simple ...

I'm working on a piece for MSM - it will take me a few days, I'll give a heads up when it's published.

In the meantime ... nothing personal toward you airboy, you've always been friendly toward me, and my apology that I quoted your post, but it triggered a level of upset in me that needed the response I gave. You're an ok guy.

    Carry on ...

    EDIT:

I was going to clean my message up a bit, but then decided not to, because it was where my head was at in the moment and I was inspired to say exactly what was on my mind.

I always talk about saying what you have to say, but being constructive about it, because I'm a huge advocate of effective communication. Well, I thought I was pretty effective, and I said exactly what I wanted to say.

I'll be constructive in the piece I'm writing for MSM, but I'll have a lot to say then too. I've been in a personal Think Tank for a month or longer and if I don't pull the plug soon, I'm not sure what will happen.

Well, let's be fair, in the specific case of Theryon Wars MindArk probably didn't play a decisive role. Pyxel Arts /Spaniard Blend obviously delayed their preceding project Anmynor multiple times and in the end it was never really released. With Jorge Ordaz the heart and brain of Theryon Wars left the company and Rafael obviously moved in another direction.

But for sure MindArk's performance is the key factor for the pitiful situation of PPs in general. That has been hinted at more or less clearly multiple times by the NEVERDIE, Ed Robles and David Dobson. Quite certainly skilled, knowledgable and passionate people are working at MindArk but the management looks like a fail.

  3. The problem I see with all this MA blaming is all information comes from players that are speculating that the problem is with MA not delivering the need systems, we, or at least I don't get much information from the planetpartners or MA. Players says that the problems with Cyrene is because of the lack of the Mech system, at that is MA fault. To be honest, I don't think it just the lack of a Mech system that is the problem with Cyrene. I could be wrong, but it's a bit hard do believe it only that.

And this is the biggest problem, players are speculating, as I do here, why things are as it is, and who to blame for the problems. As always I think both MA and the planet partners are do blame. MA are slow on delivering the system the planets wants, and the planet partners lack money, or will to spend the money, to develop and market their planet.

You're right Airboy, all the players can do is speculate, and perhaps that's what makes me more furious than anything else - they should not have to - there should be open communication, and even though I will admit it's gotten a bit better, it's far from where it needs to be.

No one has ever elected me to speak on behalf of the players, I've just done it on my own because I believe we deserve not only more information (the kind that doesn't give the secrets away) but definitely more respect.

I've had many wonderful opportunities in my 8+ years in our universe getting to know the players from many perspectives - through game play, the forums, events, societies, and my media endeavors. However, I've also had many opportunities to get to know those behind the scenes as a result of my media work, as well as being a part of an official PP team, and that's where I see night and day.

I'm not saying that MA is at fault for everything - I just know what I know, and could put a stop to some of the speculating (both about MA and PPs), which is what drives me nuts at times, but I've already said that I would not disrespect a confidence, nor what I learned as an official of a PP team.

What I would like to suggest, is that there be a little more critical thinking in the speculating, because there are those who are pretty good at it and give the community something to think about, but there are also those who are all over the map with thoughts that could be quite damaging. Bottom-line, everyone is going to have to wait to see how it all plays out, then you'll have the real answers.

I will be working on a piece for MSM this week, and it's going to most likely be one of the hardest things I've ever done, but it will say a lot.

I would now join McC up at the bar for a night cap, but he's probably gone to bed already, so I'll go watch a movie with Obie - that keeps me outta trouble.

Jordan, where Beladcom is based, is one of the more secular countries in the Middle East. From the conversations I had with them so far, they do not strike me as being religious.

Just because they are creating an Arab planet does not mean it'll be an Islamic planet.

MA has always been extremely tight-lipped for some reason. Apart from Marco, the whole company has been operating as a black box entity. The reasons for this can only be speculated on, but it's everywhere.

Companies like CCP (from EVE) have ready-made APIs coming out of their game, allowing developers and fans access to their items, etc. With MA, no such thing exists. Every piece of information out there on EU items has been painstakingly collected and documented by players. WOW has a thriving modding community, again due to APIs allowing players to easily pull information from the game.

Granted, some stuff should not be exposed due to the RCE nature of EU, but what's the harm in exposing mission-data, auction-data, global data, or item information, exactly?

And PPs are not allowed to say anything about MA's fuckups by contract. A clause in the PP contract prohibits them from making negative comments about MA, so any time something goes wrong after a VU that is somehow MA's fault, the PP will be the one left taking shit from the community, with MA conveniently being shielded by the PPs, and only having to face their PPs behind closed doors.

Why a company would go through the length of adding such clauses to its contracts is something one can only speculate about...

  10. That is probably a common thing, that a company should don't talk bad about their suppliers.

A lot of the information problem is probably because of the structure, we are customers of the planet partners and the pp are customers of MA. At least that the way MA wan't it too look like, but I and am sure many of the players often see MA as the real seller and supplier of the game.

It's clear that MA have some problems with prioritizing and seems to have a habit of changing their mind/planning a bit to often, the SEE fiasco did don't helped. I miss Marco a bit, and I don't know if any other important staff that went over to the SEE development team disappeared when that development team closed down. MA have also probably been forced to cut back on some of the game development to decrease their cost.

But at the same time it's up to the planet partners to do the best of the situation and try do deliver what they can, and it's very common for the planet partner's to talk big at the start, but then a bit weak on the delivery. MA mission is to deliver the game software, the PP should deliver the marketing and attract players to the game. Both MA and the PP can improve in this area.

Arkadia seems to have a good cooperation with MA, both with gaming features and cooperation in marketing, it's also looks like Arkadia have succeeded to attract their own new playerbase. With the other planet partners I don't know.

There's a difference between not talking bad, or being unable to let people know where an issue really originated, and just having to take the heat for your supplier.

And that would be an accurate perception. MA literally supplies everything other than system and model design, marketing, and content. The framework, the platform and its features, the "support".

To me, MA seems deprived of any vision or inspiration of where they want to take their platform.

They should cut down on management, and making bat-shit dumb decisions like buying castles.

Right. In the beginning they probably haven't experienced the full extent of the MA 'partnership' yet. MA's management should just throw in the towel, and get someone passionate with games to replace them. Jan nor David have proven themselves capable of leading the company anywhere.

  12. I dont want to sound like a smartass here...but...some ?

Feel free to read my blog :

    http://content-of-oblivion.blogspot.de/

David William Simmonds once wrote: "I believe all SEE people (ex MAs) got fired / went on with SEE".

He believes ? He believes ?!? Sounded like he felt ashamed or had absolutley no f*ckign idea what was going on at that time. Nice company policy...
Oh and be sure you wont get any answers by Marco either. (or anyone else)

Btw. it was the creative MA/SEE people, that all got fired (with the SEE incident).
(and no, I dont have a link for you)

Feel free to read the "SEE Virtual Worlds" part in my blog :

    http://content-of-oblivion.blogspot.de/

If $ alone would make communication and progress easier with MindArk, Cyrene should have been already No.#1...I mean, they have THE $ !

But maybe $ isnt everything in this MindArk controlled Universe ?

Maybe SEE forgot to read the fine print ? Maybe MA turned into mean individuals, after getting rid of the good people ? Maybe it was a Bridge Investment decision ? Maybe Benny Iggland...Neverdie ? (lol) ...maybe maybe maybe...

You have to read a lot between the lines in this universe. And while people keep calling you a whiner, they miss all the ongoing stuff.

As many only want to satisfy their (gambling) addiction in here, while others cry for the missing love of detail, that was once present, in this immersive, alienated world.

No other online game did this feeling to me ever again.
The biggest problem why I am still here...

Probably the same reason I am. A distinct hope that at some point the Swedish clown squad will have a moment of clarity and finally realize that the reason EU has an active user-base of less people than fill a second-league soccer stadium weekly is of they themselves.

    One can dream, right?

  16. to another planet.

But for serious, why would you want to join MindArk in a planet partnership?
You will function as a extension on their own money consuming platform.

Really have the feeling MindArk his model on R.C.E, Planet Partners and much more are doomed to fail.

At some point in time it is also not the question anymore if you are able to create a game but if you are able to have a playing community that stays with you.

My best advice for people who want to have their own planet is just to start building it them self. Why pay millions if you can do it also almost for free.

  17. We got your point already ;)

Not everyone can make a planet, and not everyone can make it succeed. So yes there will be some planet partners who fail, while others succeed.

Just like a real life business not all of them are going to make it, but it doesn't mean the whole thing is doooooooooomed!! ;)

Why not. If you are talented team who can make nice story, great 3d models, is it better to make your own game and sell it on ebay and get hacket the first day and no one buy your game?! Here you get 10 years proven model to get money for your work. Yes you pay for that, but nothing is free. If you work on "standart game" there will be peroid of hard work and then may be months/years sitting with no work. Here you can constantly build new stuff for Entropia and constantly making more money. And if you have free time you can work on parallel project for some extra cash. I may be wrong, but I am actually expecting even more PP to pop up. May be even some well established game studio like Ubisoft will come some day "Hey dudes, no one is buying Assassin's Creed anymore lets make few planets inside Entropia."
And as a gamer what game is better. Game made for 3 years from 1 design team where usualy someone else decide how you gonna play and everyone play the same or game made 10 years+ from 5+ design teams working at the same time, where you and other participants make the gameplay.

  20. Guess company's think some different than us regular consumers do.
Still i guess we could see the list become longer in time with successful and unsuccessful planets.

It is also likely to see established game studio's take over certain aspects of games and just make their own product with it.

I really think having land, let alone a whole planet in a virtual universe is something really awesome but you have to take notice in what kind of universe you end up if you know what i mean.
If you have a virtual universe you have full control over everything as creator, why all happens what happens inside Entropia Universe?

Guess it is very hard to understand if you are only looking to what you wish to see instead of looking to what is really happening from time to time.
