Has MA actually tried all strategies? in fact have they run even one ad on TVs at all? No there are many strategies as there are variations in personality types. Problem is why dont they see their options and make use of it? Even you have to admit, they can do better. Would be nice, if the community, could encourage them to do better, in the face of ingnorant indifference. Yes Aridash, TV coverage worldwide is most substantial absolutelly. If MA dont run a 30 sec spot for 2 Months worldwide, dont you believe thats substantial at all? Gamers watch TV too. I know the Discovery channel and Nat Geo is big on Games and running ads on it. Mindark pe, wont know if they dont actually try it, now would they? When they open the first planets in conjunction with the TV ad launch, the Verse is gonna get flooded with new players. I am convinced of this. In fact all Planet partners could financially chip-in on the ad deal. But dont forget Bambuco, MA should aproach him nicelly for assistance;) o Yeah! they should also run those ads on Cinema screens at the Movies, before the main show, u know:) immagine if they could run that with the movie "Avatar". better than what? how do you know they are not meeting their internally set expectation and results? they might be ahead of their plan for all we know. you still dont seem to be getting my point - maybe they dont WANT to flood the game with new players. can you not conceive that they deliberatly do not advertise on TV or in games media etc because their strategy is not to encourage high numbers in short periods of time?
Eh, what about the Verse expansion? More depositing Gamers, more turnover. Better for economy and loot pool. What could be better than doing this, quoting myself again: But just one Idea I am toying with. I knowing the game and quality before this amazing VU, would certainly encourage MA and say go ahead! First, they have to get out of the mindset that this is a national thing EU is by definition global almost every self-respecting virtual universe is. If you think small and provincial, you get what we have now. There are so many ways this community could help them if the community wasnt so pissed off, and if there was an ongoing intense dialogue between it and the MA people oh yeah AND IF THERE WAS TRUST between us 3 realy BIG if's... How could the community help? How many of us are on Facebook? Where are the EU Twitters? Etc There are so many social networks out there and going viral on them (going viral = spreading like a cold virus) is the cheapest way to go these days but of course, that is only possible if you have a good enough product
Potential in gaming has a fundamental flaw: you can’t play it. they can only sell what they have now, not their plans for the future. Nobody will join now because over 5 years we might get vehicles… they join to play the thing as it is. The best selling point EU has is the RCE. It is the only one that has it, and this should’ve been a gigantic selling point. It is barely mentioned… Of course, in all this time when this unique selling point wasn’t utilized to its full potential, the competition was programming and developing like mad… In the very very very very near future, EU won’t be the only one with an RCE, but one of many with RCE… and then, one would have to search really hard for reasons to stay in EU and not go and start over in another MMO with RCE…

Could Marco really believe that in game contests and game forums are effective methods for marketing and attracting new players? It's not that tough to market EU if MA really wanted to..they just need to realize free advertising has run it's coarse and now it's time to invest in a little advertising. And now they are offering to sell land owners teleporters? for fucks sake I don't think that plan is going to generate their xmas bonus. Attempting to get more revenue from existing players and not even consider making a freaking late night TV commercial to attract new folks?? really?? I see a chronic flawed thought pattern here. I think some new staff is in order at MA.

as i say to shinobi, do you not consider that the current strategy is according to plan and working? im saying i agree with it either, just seems saying "why dont they attract more players in with massive ad campaign" suggest only one business model is possible. they have been running a profitable cmpany for 5 years, the shareholders are happy... why do we the player base think its not going to plan? getting more revenue from existing customers, upselling, is a very common business strategy.
Its not just about the profit.Thats secondary and quite good, no-one is contesting that. With an ever expanding Verse, it would be the next correct step by the board of trustees planet partners. A busy verse well populated, intead of marginally populated. Product fame and popularity. Status. Way before my ban and VU 9, I actually believed EU is the best of the best of the best in gaming online. Sheeesh! look at the product now, in terms of quality, its world class. Right? Mindark is a Multinational, right? This game should step up to the International Wall of Fame plate, and be the contenter in its class. Besides it is a classy product.
I don't think MA's business plan is going as they hoped, unless they wanted less deposits that showed in their last quarterly report. Every successful company has an interest in expanding their revenue by one simple thing.. more customers. MA seems to of has failed to make this their priority. I know a lot of hardcore gamers and not one has ever heard of Entropia. That's not good for a MA as a company. I also know non gamers that have heard of WOW..that's a really good thing for them. "Upselling" is a customer retention strategy, for those folks that like, and can afford all the bells and whistles. But does it really help much with revenue? It's nice to see other fancy options being created EU but I hope MA discovers that a larger customer base is something they should focus on. *I also believe that the whole 150 ped a month thing was a attempt at attracting monthly subscription type players*

Mindark doesnt have the funding for a big TV ad campaign. They seem short in cash for their bank also so I doubt they wanna do ad campaigns and fail the bank license

Quality? Original, maybe. Quality is severely lacking, though. Actually, that's the ONLY selling point as far as I see it. EU is by no means outstanding in graphics, music, content, playability, user friendliness, support, intrigue, exploration possibilities, events, or quality in their releases.
