I did one better ... I requested to have my account deactivated at PCF yesterday - it's done, and I couldn't be happier. They keep harping on the rules, yet they are half-assed about performing their moderating fairly. The forum is filled more every day with an increase in negativity, but justifiably so, and I added to that level of negativity with good reason., They follow the rules in a way that suits them, and are never consistent.

I'm done with that over-moderated and unfairly moderated site where moderators are shielded and supported in what they do no matter the injustice. There's no voice there, even when something is clearly wrong and against the rules. I don't back down from bullies either, but I've had enough of that shit pen they call a forum moderated by two of the people who have literally destroyed the experience of posting there.

Threads and posts get deleted, and posts get edited but they still leave in personal insults against another member which is clearly in violation of the rules, yet try to justify their actions. After the database was sold, it has progressively gone downhill from there, and continues to get worse.

The last straw came yesterday and I pulled out the scissors and cut it, and it felt good. I'm always constructive, but even that can get you in trouble these days, and I'm just over it.

"Freedom of Speech" isn't an entitlement on a privately owned forum. If you don't agree with their rules, then leave with dignity (or expect to be expelled). If you STILL don't want to abide, then a solid session of kicking and screaming violently on the floor might help you relieve that self-induced narcissistic rage.

 

I agree that rules should be followed, and even accept that certain cases may require a little flexibility, but I also agree that applying the rules as a moderator should be done fairly and consistently, and this is not the case whatsoever when residuals of an edited post by some leaves behind personal insults to another member, which clearly breaks one of the rules (as an example) - there was no need in this case whatsoever to employ any level of flexibility when the message was clear.

Far too many threads and posts are being deleted and edited seemingly on a whim. If you're going to follow the rules, then let the rules apply to every member, not just who you choose in the moment that they should apply to, or because you have a personal issue with a member.

 

Unfortunately you lost all credibility from my standpoint Menace, as you repeatedly exploited. Don't get me wrong I have been in several arguments with Serica regarding over-modding on PCF and have been "mildly" vocal about it, but in my view such a person as yourself can not be the flagbearer in this crusade.

ps. this whole trapping business will make me leave my society as the newly elected leader was temp banned as well.

Probably just a matter of time til Serica screws up like JC did and get a temp ban herself... Not sure it'd fix her attitude though.

I actually take pride in knowing that I was temp banned from there at least once, and have had at least two of the urls to two of my blogs put on the naughty word list over there, joining the ranks of Entropia Reality, and who knows how many other sites that the forum nazis over there don't want seen by public eyes. (kinda surprised the tinyurls haven't been added to the block list yet - guess I shouldn't have mentioned that since now they'll probably read about it here and block those too until I just create a new blog and some other tiny url, etc.)... Try typing Entropiareality, Entropiatrash, or Entropiarelated on PCF and you'll see the bad word filter that come up that changes them all to !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Same goes for some of the alternative names for Mr. Peterson's alt avatar who recently logged in long enough to sell a mall shop a few months ago even though many thought that avatar was banned for good in game... I thought about bypassing the filter by creating a bunch of blogs with words they can't possibly filter out or it'd kill their own forum's ability to communicate, really just a mater of downloading the blog's exported file, re-uploading it and blamo, done in about 5 minutes, but I probably won't go that far as long as they let the short urls stay...

As far as the exploiting goes, Mindark doesn't actively fix bugs before they go live and even in many cases after they've been made aware of them. They REALLY need to change that. It's just bad level design and bad programming to allow trapping to continue. All the level designs in game should be created in ways that the poly's won't line up in ways that mobs get trapped, but Mindark is too darn lazy to actually take the time to create tools to test that all the levels are designed in exploit-free and bug-free ways so they just slap it all together and put it on the live servers and we end up with a huge mess that we see in game, exploits available and all. They really should have used the CLD sale income to hire a few pro programmers and testers but they didn't so things will carry on as they always have been...

 

I still think the problem isn't people, it's the lack of competition. Given monopoly power, most people will abuse it. I sincerely doubt I'd perform better than Serica - differently though.

The status of PCF is weird. It takes a quite special mindset to use 'community' and 'official' in the same sentence and to think it makes sense.

Well, from now on I will waste some of my time on fostering the competition. :)

Hmm. I did the same back in August and was ignored. Perhaps I should try once again.

 

Well I have to say that the moderation level on PCF has gone beserk. The original post explain that meance had left obsidian has been reduced to 4 entries. I believe really that mederators have the right to close threads but not delete the content as long as it is not derogatory to other ppl or has an element of legality about it

 

The band wagon has been slowly murmoring their disgust about PCF for years. Even when it was EF. It's not like a lot of people didn't give it their best to spew their disgust over Mindstar9 as a moderator over there.

How ironic.

EF was made to replace Entropia-Pioneer's forum. EF grew quickly and Entropia-Pioneer's lost popularity at an insane rate - because people felt the latter was over moderated.

History speaks clearly. Every single popular forum has been accused of over moderation. How long until Entropia Planets is over moderated?
