For months Neverdie has hinted at a new Movie themed destination for Rocktropia. Even when directly asked he has never given any hits on what it will be or when released, but todays weapon discovery may be the clue we were looking for. Grindhouse Rodriguez(L) Blueprint The print itself is nothing spectacular. It is a level 1 blueprint that produces a level 16 weapon and requires a resource that has not yet been discovered before it can be clicked. The name however can lead to some interesting speculation. Machete Kills is set to open in US theaters on October 4th, 2013. With a long list of great actors and beautiful women this film is sure to be popular with the traditional 'gamer' types. (15-35yr old males) > It will be interesting how the film does in the box office as well as how (or if) NEVERDIE studios will implement it into a new movie themed destination on Rocktropia. Will there be bikes with guns? Eyepatches? Uzis? Pistol Grip Shotguns? Boob Cannons? Or maybe a few 'Machetes'? What do you guys think?
That's his RL birth name and his brother is Emilio Estevas something I didn't know before researching this.
I can't believe I havent watched that movie - the trailer looks amazing. ND knows how to bring us back to RT. some nice clothing, armor and weapons in the movie :)
hehe, have seen (and liked) death proof and machete, so could be interesting to watch. pics look cool. but lady gaga? baaah comón not every singer is a good actor...
Awww have to admit I was hoping for the Tom Cruise film or the re release of Jurassic park... but a grindhouse tie in is very RT indeed so should fit in well. :D
Some interesting weapons right there. Boob gun should be fun, but I want something cool to, as a guy :) Any word from Nd about this?
You mean like this one out of From Dusk till Dawn? (also directed by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino)
Nice cast of characters. Movie should be good. But I don't see how Rocktropia would put it together as a game. What will be the mob? At least its a better choice then doing Sharknado! If it does happen, I want a boob gun!
On totaly unrelated topic - Is it possible to invest and make a planet, run it few years, finish on profit and move to something else. Like 5 years are enought to double your investment and than all you got is less than the server expenses.
That would all depend on what the PP Agreement stipulates, as you would already have to have a planet in play, because from what I heard, MA isn't going to be doing any more full-on planets, except for the release of Toulan sometime in December. If the Monria concept works out well, then that's the direction they're probably going to go, but not sure how many of those they would allow since MA is doing all of the development, and their time is already stretched seeing that key things for Monria didn't make it this week at their launch. As far as any of your other questions are concerned, I think you would have to ask MA directly yourself. There were originally going to be 32 planets (I think that's what was advertised by MA at one time a long time ago), but we see how well that's working out, and now with the release of Monria, I think that's going to be the benchmark with regard to what direction MA goes from here. Every now and then, I see Skippie posting about his "Project Xenos" in various places, and if this is something that happens in the future, I think this may be the same concept as Monria. Project Xenos already has an affiliate website (without being released yet), so not sure what all this means. All you have to do is double-click on any of the items on the page and it will take you to an Entropia Universe sign-up page. All kinds of new opportunities are happening in our universe. Maybe the new concept (like Monria) is the one you should be asking about to get some details. It's probably best to ask MA directly to get the most accurate information.
The issue with EU is, and imo always has been player retention. In order to pull something like you described off, you'd need to be able to build up a lasting relationship with customers, and entice them to keep coming back. MA's model somehow ensures that the great majority of new players brought in by marketing efforts end up dropping off within a very short time span. That means that out of the limited set of people to who a game like EU would appeal, you're hoping to end up with a small number of cash cows that deposit enough to pay for: Pre-production costs and investment recoup Server costs Marketing efforts Graphics/storyline development Other overhead Unless you'd have a significant bankroll to start with, you'd have a real hard time breaking even, let alone profiting. Out of the existing PPs, I think Arkadia is the most successful one, but I'm not sure they reached the profit stage. The others have not. The new model of selling off smaller projects like moons, might make it more feasible to actually receive a positive ROI, though it'll have to prove itself first. For now, it seems like Monria is off to a decent start. Let's wait and see how things will work out for them :)
Wow so this is a turn up. I didn't know the PP concept was being ditched... I wonder what the Entropia Evangelist will do now er... John Bates? I guess what he did before the PP strategy probably. So I guess the planet with the pets as the main feature will never show... 32 planets... hmm... I think what might be a nicer model perhaps is for MA to work down the strategy of almost franchising areas of the existing game. Either small new space outposts like Monria or allowing contributions to existing planets. For example it might be nice for people to be able to approach MA in smaller teams with smaller cash levels to design say 1 server square. MA provide tools and infrastructure for this to happen. I'd still love to see someone take over Next Island. That story/theme had SO much potential and the existing areas are lovely.
