I have an idea spinning around in my head and would like you guys let me know what you think. Some good points but at same time pretty sad stuff like this is needed in PE...used to be pretty nice and calm in terms of scams. Also would like to know what you mean with "good standing". I for instance is a person people love to dislike but I have borrowed Mod Mercs,mod.faps,armors,rockjackers etc in the past and always given it back in time. Who determines whats good standing and not?
A very valid point Knuckles. And that is exactly what I am trying to figure out. As a business person I cant care what peoples disagreements with each other are, I need to be able separate their monetary honesty from every other aspect. In the theoretical situation where you were one of the people borrowing or co-signing, I believe that most of your enemies would agree that you could be trusted monetarily, "IF" they were honest. (I cant claim to know you well enough to make that judgment though) I am looking for ideas or recommendations on how to determine if someone or a list of some people are of good standing in the community. One idea would be to have an open poll with the 7people involved listed where people can vote for people they know and trust personally. The 7 people would need to vote as well, and by voting claim responsibility publicly for the loan. People would be free to PM me with any concerns they may have or red flags they have for a specific avatar on the list. In effect there would be 6 people insuring the 1 person with promised cash should they default, and multiple people insuring all 7 people involved with their own reputations. I think that complete transparency on an open forum before a transaction takes place while not completely insuring honesty, would go along ways. Let me know what you guys think, narfi
Over time, this could be an interesting way of doing things... but just know that those scammer/trouble maker lists are highly dependent on the society in question and may or may not be huge lists... i.e. there's a heck of a lot of bias on the lists sometimes... not often... but sometimes... just because someone was caught doing something slightly unethical or blamed of it, and could not or did not take the time to prove, or was not given a chance to prove otherwise should not necessarily mean that the individual in question should be banned from business forever... I am in the NBK and have read their lists. I agree with most of what's on there, but I also have seen people get kicked out of various societies, both in NBK and non-NBK that I've been in before for reasons that were completely uncalled for, in my opinion... but I wasn't running the show so it's was not my call... just something to think about... Popularity contests don't always give good indications of which business man or woman is the best one to be dealing with in any particular case. Be careful not to judge others... Also be darn careful to remember that "All Trades are Final"
All I can think of is having a reputable person, like Joe Jeff, Entropia Law, etc. act as witnesses for such loans as security by Law. That is if you can find one with time for this. Always record chatlogs and fraps the trades pls. No matter who loans.
The NBK keeps two different lists and only 3 people in the NBK are able to add or remove names from the lists. Our Black list contains people who have proven that they have a habit of causing problems for the NBK, or just causing a lot of problems in EU for various people. Our Red list is actually larger and contains people who have been involved with scamming people, spreading trojans and keyloggers, or have facilitated others who have done those things. The degree of severity on the Red list ranges from stealing spaceships from noob miners all the way to the most notorious scammers. Our lists are kept private and for internal usage. Anyone who would like to know if a specific name is on our list can contact me.
Are you on the redlist for going into email accounts owned by EU participants? Its kind of pathetic you maintain these lists though since I bet alot of honest people are on them for no reason. Is Britgirl from NBK Miners on Red list by the way?

Please don't turn this into a flaming thread though :) if you want to discuss personal things from within this thread just quote it and start a new thread. Right now my business partner(actual owner of the items ive been renting) needs some quick cash, so Ive listed them on ef to see if they can sell quickly enough. You mean the time that I went into the email account of GTF the scammer using the password he voluntarily gave me? You bet there are a lot of innocent people on the lists? Why do you bet that? Furthermore there is no reason to put Britgirl on the list. Oh thats right you are just saying that to piss me off. Your obsession with me and your willingness to bend the truth is proof of how pathetic you are knuckles.
