Yayyy, back on topic, great new jump&run feature added to Cyrene lately ! (Nov. 2013)

To be honest, McCormick, I don't think it's a bad idea necessarily. Wasn't it criticized so often that the other planets are just "a Calypso in disguise"?

This way, a "Jump & Run" as well as a "Quake Arena" might be a working way to distinguish Cyrene from the other planets - it seems Cyrene is trying to offer some cheaper entertainment for players that don't want to grind all day long, on their mind numbing "Gigazillion-Mob-Missions". The low-level & -cost daily missions are another.
I have to admit, this may make me want to fire up my Quad once more ...

I don't think it's a bad idea because it adds diversity to the EU. In my opinion the different planets should offer different gaming experiences, but atm they all are still very close together - just with different skins and textures.

Would I be in control of Cyrene, I'd follow the path I described - I'd make it kind of a "Best planet for EU beginners and for hedonistic people (<- Xandra!)", and I'd market it as such!

Only very few huge, phat mobs, most mobs with lower HP, no regen at all, but sufficient damage nevertheless.
Accordingly most resources and items in the low TT area, so that even nOObs can get something nice sometimes.

I'd even try to find a new way to get community-driven events made possible by MA, cost-free events where the common success is rewarded, not the highest loot.

Going out with a bunch of nOObs to slay one of the really big critters, the nOObs alone have shared loot on it, and the organizer/s receives a small part of the burned PEDs - for instance.​

This would require new mechanics (some way to elevate/distinguish the organizer/s for the duration of the event), thus MA help would be needed. Other kinds of such events are limited by imagination only (and by the powers of MA's developers ...).

More fun! Less grind!
Isn't it this exactly what many of us are missing so badly from "the good old PE™"?

I don't see a serious problem with it, contrarily, I'm welcoming it.
We have enough planets hand tailored for Ubers that love go for their ATH on a daily basis, on ridiculous phat critters, with crazy regeneration, accepting insane turnovers.
And at the same time we are starving from participant numbers, because anyone below "upper middle class players" don't have any fun anymore, doesn't loot anything worthwhile, and is leaving for good as fast as they are coming.

I don't think it's a bad idea necessarily what Cyrene is doing, if they do it right. Kudos to them for the try to do something different!

PS: Regarding the control responsibility, animation quality as well as latency of EU I'd think I'd not even try a "Jump & Run" here - snails in concrete don't like jumping ...

 

I just describe the situation using different words. ;D
Problem is, as soon as I link recent happenings/problems to similar things in the past...
...people tell me to stop digging in the past. Because it is the past. Just like this text, that will enter the past already after beeing read.

It is all history repeating. All the time. No idea why people tend to ignore that.
But I think it is, because some of them SEE it as an attack, insult or just bad PR towards their precious product, everytime I post.

They keep telling me, its all my fault ;D that new players stay away from Entropia, because of my attacks, insults and bad PR on the forum.

They keep telling me go go away, to finally leave this universe. Just because I dont like things and wished for changes since years.

They keep telling me that they are happy, MA never listened to me.

The same 5-10 people. All lthe time. Just like the same 5-10 people that agree with me (now and then) ;p One could say, it is precious time beeing wasted writing here. Because in the end no MA releated ppl are reading here. But I love sharing my point of view about this precious product. I dont do that for MA anymore, but for the "new guys". Be prepared. :p

It was more hardcore on PCF though and here we are the same 5-10 people all the time. But its still fun. ;)

I really hope they read (between the lines) and actually understand...knowing, that they cant get past the Simmonds&Timkrans mind(ark) anyway. xP

 

But then again I thought most of the current issues started about the time our new CEO did take power. But yes, about that time the world economy went down the drain but still.
