Loading EU again - first time since pre vu10

    I haven't played Entropia since pre vu10.

    I have been meaning to get EU up and running again but every time I plan to give it a go there seems to be another update and a bunch of new problems being reported on the forums.

    I now have a few days break from work and I would like to give it a go. But I wondered if anyone could give me some fasttracking technical advice to hopefully make the setup as smooth as possible.

    I have a decent PC - but not top of the range - Vista (32bit), Intel i7 CPU, 3GB memory, NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT (512MB).

    The NVIDIA driver is 182.50.

    My first question is - should I uninstall the old version of EU (9.x) currently on the PC before I download the current version?

    Secondly with the setup I have are there any other things I should look out for?

    I use my PC for work so I won't be popular if I mess it up installing EU!

    All tips and advice welcome (for reference I would rate my technical knowledge as medium).

    Hi and welcome to our forum.

    Your rig seems very similar to mine. Maybe a bit outdated, but perfectly capable of running EU. Uninstalling is always a good idea. I think VU10 will automatically uninstall, but doing things manually gives you total control.

    Things should work, but if I remember correctly, a lot of people experienced trouble due to MA forgetting to include the C++ redistributables in the install. There's a link to it here, and another to a patch for it here. Be sure to grab the x86 versions :)

    Your 'puter should be able to handle Crytropia, altho not on high settings.

    As mentioned, uninstalling is always the best option, make sure you delete any remaining folders by hand - the updater will uninstall everything anyway, but the default installation folder has changed.

    If you have trouble with the installation just post here, i've collected a couple of download links and such and am quite familiar with the most common problems.

    I manually uninstalled the old EU and the new installation went fine.

    I'm back in the game! (on high settings)

    (but where have all the players gone??)

    take a look at Swamp Camp and Nea's, a lot of new players there atm.
    Also Twin Peaks for some old players

    Alot of them quit when VU10 came. I would love to see some average people online per day 2009 preVU 10 to 2009 Pre CP sale so the CP babies wont be counted into the graph (tops 5-10% of them will stay anyway)

    Only thing to go by for us right now is the trackerstats and they show a dramatic decrease in terms of unique avatars globaling
