This poll is simple. Will you risk and Tier up your Unlimited items? Or just use them as they are? Please vote. And if you have time let us know if you will just tier up only armor, or only gun, or all your UL items. Thank you EDIT: error in second answer. "No, I will not take the 5% chance of losing the new item"
I probably will do some eventually, but not anything that's very expensive or hard to obtain. I'm thinking about doing Ghost or Gremlin when they're ready (I haven't seen any armour upgrade recipes but I assume they're not significantly harder than the weapons), and ultimately I guess I'd like to do a Maddox IV, but I wouldn't want to risk anything more than that. I'd probably do my Bravo and maybe Vigi too. Any of my better stuff is not worth the risk, and any of my lower-level stuff would probably be a waste of time. There's no way my Mina or Emine armour will be getting upgraded. Too expensive and too rare. Of course I'm still evaluating the usefulness of the enhancers and waiting for prices to settle so that will affect my decisions.
When you say you are evaluating, that means you have some numbers? I'd be more than happy to know what an enhancer can do to a gun. for example tier 1 enhancer, can boost my damage by x% or something like that...
as I understand a enhancer will upgrade your damage with 5% ans yes I will probably try in some day, but I will wait to see if the thing Marco hinted at would appeare
But at the cost of enhancers, which are stackable, and seem to be consumed totally randomly. As for the poll, prolly not. I might try upgrading my Shogun and Opalas, but my more expensive gear will most likely wait for either the system to change, or those items that upgrade things (refered to by Marco) drop. My imp21 would be nice to have tiered, but considering what I paid for it, I'm reluctant to risk anything.
There's some info on Entropedia about the effects. I haven't looked into it much yet, just picked up a few things on the forums like the 5% damage boost that Razer mentioned.
The 5% isn't the whole story you'd also need to know about the actual enhancers used (e.g. how many required). Basically you need to do a cost benefit analysis ;) ....if the costs are higher than the benefits then it's not much use imho In some cases they would be usefull and in some cases I think you'd be wasting your peds.
Well as for myself, I'll probably tier up some low end UL weapons like a TT Knife or longsword, as well as the opalo. After all I think a 1 in 20 chance of losing a low end item (which will set you back only a few peds) is an acceptable loss As for the higher end and more expensive guns, I probably won't do it. After all there is some break even point where upgrading a UL Weapon is too cost prohibitive Ben Coyote a.k.a. "The Blind Sniper"
But it will also cost you a lot in materials to do this. We don't know yet what it will take to go all the way to Level 10 of course, but I'm sure you'll be looking at hundreds, probably thousands of PEDs. Do you really think there will be a benefit to having a Tier 10 TT weapon? Why not just use a bigger (L) weapon? Upgrading low-end stuff seems pointless to me (with the caveat that we don't yet know everything about the system).
Yes I'll tier up some items, even the expansive ones like the Jaguar armor, I'll never take the risk to tier up items very limited, in number of copies, ingame like my EP-41 SGA. I hope only that prices of tiering process will lower more
It all depends on if MindArk/FPC fixes the enhancer system so it performs as it should. I do not accept a randomly decaying enhancer as a functioning system. The Enhancers should have been like a amplifier or any other attachment. A set decay rate and a tt value high enough to last atleast a full normal 1000ped hunt. Doesnt matter to me if it would be L or unlimited aslong as the markup isnt crazy. So with that said there is still some stuff like my LR66, Skildek Cobra and Hermes that I might wanna upgrade for next LG if decent enhancers appear for a decent price. I dont want something that costs 1ped a click or so Realistically only the Cobra will get upgraded through use since I dont wanna with Hermes and LR66 unless I would find a really high tier part and exhange vs my old parts which ofcourse is mostly below 100tier
I have all the tt weapons at 0.9, barring the LB, currently on 0.6. I'm going to tier only when I have accumulated the components during the course of my normal activities. I'm about halfway to doing my first click, probably Opalo. I have some low TT Opalos I don't mind risking.
I have not tested it yet, but i think it is everything else but random. If you make items with a fixed decay, they will only be able to provide a fixed bonus. The enhancers give a certain percentage as bonus, depending on the item you stick em on. I'm pretty sure they decay according to the bonus they give on an actual item (i.e. 5% more protection on pixie is way less than on supremacy), mixed with a "normal curve" - the decay on the long run will be depending on the item you us them on, but be pretty stable with larger numbers - and end up somewhere at known figures (i.e. for armor, it will be close to the usual pec per protection point rate)
I do hope the "random" part in the description of the item is just poor english by the one who wrote it. If it indeed is "fixed" on same damage items it makes it so much more interesting ONCE the prices are down to 105-110%. For pk only I would be interested in paying more since that is not everyday use
Every weapon is based on (roughly) the same 4 dmg/pec, don't know the exact costs per hitpoint absorbed, but this is even a more exact value. And Mr. FPC himself stated several times that "EU is based on a certain economy model and that will not change"... Having this said, i simply want to believe that this is the way it works - when costs are not tied to the gained advantage it makes no sense and contradicts all we know from EU. After all, people pay thousands of peds to gain a (comparably small) advantage in eco and/or damage per second. A factor that can't be taken into consideration is too much of a risk for people who want good eco. In the octagon, and especially in lootable PvP, a couple of meters more range or 0.1 seconds lower reload means a lot, so people will buy it no matter what... I'm pretty confident people will do a lot of tests to find out how it works, but for sure not right now with current price tags.
