With the Second Golden Age now officially concluded, we are curious to hear what everyone's experience in it was. Did it live up to the expectations everybody had? I dug upwhat I believe was the very first quote made by FPC early into SGA (To put the quote below into context, this was in a thread created after players found out it started on a non-EU Website, and with wording that seemed to indicate only new players would be able to loot SGA items). Link to quote: http://www.entropiaforum.com/forums...ge-declared-open-post2038827.html#post2038827 To sum up the purpose of this thread, will you remember SGA as "an Age to reminisce in the years ahead"?
I honestly didn't get to play enough last year to actually have a subjective view on this. :( I wish I had though.
I have to admit, my expectations were low from day one of the so called "Second Golden Age," but for me it was even worse than I expected. I never expected any SGA item, as "events" never have been kind to me. In close to three years...it was the worst period I've had in EU. Loot was horrible, and frankly when you keep losing your ass day in and day out no matter what you do.....it's hard to have much fun. It got to the point I almost never logged in. Things seem to have improved a tiny bit since it ended, but not enough to make me want to go back to mining yet. ;) So i'll keep skilling on snables and bibo's until it does.... just my opinion.
hmmm  Second Golden Age...........what to think.......what to say....where to start. First off VU10 put a big damper on my old PC. I was able to run EU prior to VU10 on high settings with little or no issues and VU10 made me realize my machine was just to old. On top of this I have been looking for work for quite some time and could not justify the expense of a new PC. So I began looking at places I had money tied up and one such place was EU. So I sold a few items and withdrew during SGA. I got my new PC and some expensive graphics software to continue my education plus paid off our washer and dryer with the funds. I kind of figured that my change in gear and withdraw might in some way "blacklist" me from any SGA. During the SGA period I did play between 4-8 hours per day on a wide variety of mobs. Many right in the middle of SGA loot waves as well. Never saw an item on my own and as time went on I figured I would not. I did get a lucky que in a team and a SGA item ended up in my loot window. As I liquidated more ped I ended up purchasing that said item and many other SGA items. Somewhere along my path in PE/EU it seems far less expensive for me to purchase rather than try in vain to loot. That does take some fun out of the game for me and it made me realize a thing or two about EU I really don't like. I'm not whining about not getting a SGA item on an individual basis but it makes me look at grinding in EU as not a means to an end for most cases. The items were obviously doled out as SGA went on and maybe this is a draw back of MA's "black box". Its not so much thinking today I can go out and hunt such and such mob as it is waiting for the balancing team to decide to get around to entering certain items in loot. Once entered they may not have exact control who gets the items but I fear there are certain variables that can exclude or include avatars into finding items, well that is just my gut feeling and something I just can't shake. I personally think all items barring event items should have been available from day one of SGA but maybe MA has limitations in their system who knows......... When I think back to PE in the early days it just seemed more fluid and less forced. Great items popped up in loot now and then and it always seemed like maybe the next time I look a "???" I might see something great. Maybe that was my newbness thinking "anyone" could loot anything when it was not so back then as it is now. My thoughts on SGA is that it should not have been limited to a time limit period. CE2 VU10 is the Second Golden Age of EU and just like the first great items where looted from time to time. Having such a short time frame left many feeling either feast or famine instead of thinking maybe someday I can loot that great item. Now that its over many are left a little disenchanted with the whole process. I also would have like to think SGA would have brought us something a bit more original and maybe a unique item or two to continue with that type of loot. ahhh well I am sure EU will chug along but honestly this whole experience has sort of left me wary and less enthusiastic about any MA or FPC events involving anything to be looted. I guess thats just another conspiracy theory for another day.
Well. Sga was a ped drainer for me for sure. Deposits 28k ped. from august to dec. Down 28k ped.. gained skills worth 8.7k. Turnedover aprox 176K ped in mining and hunting. Looted a opalo sga in team and pixie gloves M from a stray fugabarba. All in all I had the time off my life getting shat on by mindark once again,
Looted my sga off auction I didn't expect to get much so my disappointment was low. I also took a 2.5 month eu vacation so my odds of getting sga were probably lowered by that. From what I read I think ma kinda miss lead people into thinking everything was lootable at the start. I think that was wrong. Sga felt mostly like a vast event to keep people in game while ma rebuilt the game features that are missing. Kosmos
I actively played little during SGA. Even though I was online on a regular basis, mostly only 1-2 hours doing other stuff then hunting. I agree on Sirhc that SGA shouldn't have been a fixed period. All items MA/FPC wanted to give out should have been thrown in the lootpool all at once and by that means SGA might have taken only 2 months or maybe even 12 months. But with the feeling that your next loot could pop you some SGA item in loot. On the other hand, even with a minimum amount of hunting during SGA, a Daikiba managed to drop me a Castorian Enblade-A SGA. Which of course decorates my Mansion no. So I decided myself not to play ball and save my deposits, I did loot an SGA item. But to say, as Marco stated, that SGA would be a period that we will never forget... Erhmmmm, nope....
utter waste of time and promotional effort. after my first ordinary Fap 80 i realised they weren't dropping SGA versions of everything, after my third i realised it was just a few select items on select mobs. growing disheartened, when i heard Eon dropped in the days after new year, when i was home but thought it wasnt worth hunting, i felt conned frankly. that goki dropped one which i had been focused on was salt in the wound. combined with enhancers, i now have no trust or faith in MA any more. in the autumn i was looking at depositing to upgrade weapons, but now i think im looking to an exit strategy. for me, the SGA period killed the game.
I already knew where SGA would head so I didnt partake. And no disapointments by doing that :D Kind regrds. Ion
The bottomline I think is that this event was extended from 30 days to 4 months, at the "drop of a hat". The "drop of the hat" was because of the inept roll out of VU 10, IMO. SGA ... never before seen items... this was true. I never before saw Pixie SGA. I never in a million years thought that would be what SGA was. OK, I have had it, have seen these same things in the past. <Shrug>. I don't play nor deposit as much as I used to. I would never, ever, mention to another person that I come inside of EU. If they knew what it was; I'd be embarressed to admit I came into there.. That's what I think of SGA, and EU "In the morning" to you if you readed this though :D
I also missed SGA becasue of VU 10 making it very hard to play. I am currently reduced to mining. which i guess i didn't do that bad with but. I guess I am glad i didn't deposit a whole bunch to try to loot something. And i dont feel from the impressions of others that i've missed out on anything either which really is sad. You would think that with what was said prior i would have felt like i just missed something huge. Which i do feel about the first "golden age" when people where TT'ing Shadow armour.
Did the same thing i normally do during the SGA. So no big expectations, just viewed it as something it really was, a very small chance something nice would drop. And it did (jaguar shins) my first uber loot in 5 years
Yep. Me too. Logged in to buy some odd SGA pistol off of auction though. Way Cheaper Way Quicker Way less frustration.....
